Got mine in September, I don't mind the back of the case having a "patina" the sides have pealed very badly. I'm very active run daily exercise so maybe cant withstand the pocket rubbing?
The solution is simple, you are carrying it wrong. Purchase an Ultra 2 watch and leave the phone at home. 😉

It’s bio degrading. That’s by design. Apple Translation: That means you’re using it wrong. Bring back leather cases non painted just good ole leather.

For 50 bucks you should expect more.
Bring back leather and change just one thing: "now our leather cases come from regeneratively farmed sources". Improve the land the more cases you buy. Cleaner rivers, thanks to better soil structure and significantly reduced wet-weather runoff and more robust riverbanks and improved land, thanks to holistic planned systems that mimic natural herd-prey behaviour by intensively grazing and then allowing a long rest period; improved soil means improved plant and animal biodiversity, thanks to more worms, microbes and bugs building a more robust base ecosystem. Not "green" because we tell you it's green, but green because real work has been done, rather than simply recycling oft-heard slogans and making stuff from plastic and calling it "vegan".

At first I didn't really take a look at the photo because I've seen a bunch of "FineWoven" sucks posts. But then I looked at it and this might be partially her issue. Take a look at her lenses. Heck, even the glass next to the lenses is dirty. I don't doubt that the FineWoven cases don't age well, but she may need to wash her hands more often than the monthly ritual she currently has going on.
Looks like some finger smudges to me. Your fingers don’t smudge??

Agreed. The phone is disgusting in general.

Also, if she's anything like my wife, she'll put lotion on her hands five times a day and get it all over everything.

This feels like it was a business decision, great for the company’s bottom line and maximizing profit; but all in the name of “going green”. There’s a reason that leather has been produced and used since the dawn of time.
Leather is also a very durable material. Real leather trainers or shoes, well made, be they pig-skin or cow compare greatly to everything else out there. There's a guy on YouTube who's entire channel is him cutting up shoes to show how they are made and what's in them. The only time he has trouble cutting up shoes is when they are real leather. He compared the "vegan" Docs to the leather ones and the leather ones were about three times stronger—and both were the same price! This means the leather ones will last much longer and be more reliable.

I definitely prefer the old leather ones but my FW has held up ok - had a few drops so it has some signs of ware but it’s far from bad, will probably repurchase when get a new phone next time.

Absolutely my point! Thanks for reiterating the fact that leather is much more durable and long-lasting! :)

To date, designing a cover in fabric is also the stupidest idea Apple has had. They might as well design a cover out of napkins that you could wipe your fingers with. I dare not think how many bacteria hide inside the fibers of a well-used FineWoven cover.

A product you touch so much and use in all situations must not be made of fabric. I don't understand how Apple, which is otherwise good at thinking through details, can make such a mistake.

Not directly related but Apple's silicon case for iPhone 15 pro is also below expectations. Had it replaced twice already since I got the iPhone in September

I still don't understand why people don't just buy a $10 cover that lasts years. Get a Spigen one, works great, just doesn't have the famous Apple logo on it.

I have a Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear case on my iPhone 12. It's starting to yellow a bit but it's still in excellent physical condition.

Funny, I bought my FineWoven case on the day the iPhone 15 series came out and it’s doing just fine. Maybe it’s not worth the price but mine still looks good, is lightweight, doesn’t add bulk and does its job.

I think some people just don’t take care of their stuff - like those who inevitably drop their phones and crack their screens in the first year of ownership. Every time. Everyone is different.

In some photos of FineWoven case damage I find it hard to believe the phone was not dropped. Some corner damage we’re seeing clearly didn’t happen on its own. In other cases, it looks like the case was laid in something caustic or the wrong type of solvent was used to clean it. I don’t think these cases deteriorate that quickly without a reason. We’re not getting the full story.

But some people will swear on a Bible that they’ve taken good care of the case. Human perception varies wildly and constantly makes me scratch my head.

Really like my fine woven case and card holder. Love how soft/silky fine woven feels. My case still looks pretty much new (purchased when launched in September)…I keep my hands clean though
