iPod Touch 8GB is still $229???

But the iPhone is either $99 , $199, or $299??

Apple might as well ditched the 8GB touch and just did 32GB 64GB & 128GB

No consumer should pay $229 8GB for flash memory

The iPhone 4 is actually $599 / $699 (I think?)

I'm sure they would lower the price of the iPod Touch to $99 too if you had to pay minimum $85 to use it every month.

I thought it was an impressive event. The products all look nice. I haven't purchased an iPod in years but I might get the nano just to use as a wrist watch.

The news that there are 230,000 new iOS activations per day was very impressive.

So, for the record, the new iPod Touch has a 2mp camera? It's funny how it's not listed on the Apple site.

I'm confused, do I buy the nano, the iPod Touch, or both?

When will these be available in UK stores?

(Sorry, just got back from the gym so I'm pretty knackered and suffering from information overload atm).

WTF...why rob the nano of the camera and video playback and keep the price the same? The nano is WAY overpriced now.

Glad they brought the buttons back to the shuffle. The iPod touch is a solid update, no complaints.

The nano is now a joke. Who is the audience for this?

I am.

Wristwatch app (analogue face) with white strap for a Red nano...

Sold. :D

Now to ponder on the Touch...

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. It looks pretty sick. I'm still waiting on those 27 inch Cinema Displays though.

Market Segments

Man, I have not seen this presented yet in this way. So let's talk market segments:

Shuffle = Work Out Person, Homeless

Nano = My First MP3 Player, look a touch screen just like Mommy's!

iPod Touch = The Nintendo DS for Apple Fanlets + iTunes :D

iPhone = It's a computer away from my computer for adults, hence $$$$ + a phone

iPad = It's also my computer away from my computer but mainly to take to work and look cool.

So can the new Apple TV play apps?

Not currently, but again, the A4 makes me think its running an variant iOS version. I think it will run apps in the future. Even w/ out the hard drive, there has to be flash memory for the OS...and hopefully more space for apps later.

Well, Jobs got thinner, so...

It would have been tremendously cool if it had been designed so watch bands could be easily attached.

Even cooler: it docks into the band, which contains a BT transmitter for stereo BT headphones. Or it snaps out for stand-alone use with headphones.

On a serious note, I remember when everyone was complaining that iPods didn't have radio. No one has said anything about the FM radio in the nano.

I may pick up a 8gig Nano. My 2G 2gig Nano (aka, running Ipod) is getting long in the tooth.

I was hoping for (but not expecting) an update to the the Macbook Air. Is it too much to ask for an Air with a Core i7 640UM and Geforce GT 320M?

Sounds awesome, I'm sure something like that will come along from a third party. :D

The iPhone is subsidized.

arn

so is the R&D of the iPod Touch (via the iPhone)

I think the point was that this is an iPhone minus several expensive parts, plus nothing, and costing "more."

say it's subsidized all day, but the prices are wrong. especially the nano's price. The shuffle seems like a good price, though. more than competitors, but not too much more, and it's apple.

the 8gb touch shouldn't exist, and the 16 gb should be 199-219 or so.

Disappointing resolution on the iPod touch rear camera.

Come on Apple. Not everyone wants anorexic electronics. Make the iPod touch thicker and give it the same camera sensor and LED flash as the iPhone 4.

And its time to kick the stainless steel backing to the curb too.

I was thinking of getting a new iPod Touch to my wife so that she can also use it as a point and shoot camera while traveling. Oh well, that won't be happening.

Yeah, having apps like game apps to be run on the Apple TV could open up a new revenue stream for Apple.

Though, I was hoping for some beefier hardware in the new ATV.
