Playing with the 5c in the Apple Store prompted me to go to the bathroom afterwards to wash my hands (no joke). It was really disgusting touching that greasy, slimy back, covered with oils of hundreds of adolescents vying to get their hands on this POS. It's somehow more slipperier than even the 3G/3GS. Anyone that thinks a thicker, cheaper, more disgusting feeling phone is some kind of upgrade from the 5 is in serious denial, and it really only speaks volumes of the marketing prowess of Apple. Oh and LOL at the guy on the first page that said it feels it feels almost like metal. Man you need to take it easy on that koolaid.

Build quality is the quality of the build, Atleast thats what I take it to mean, Plastic is cheaper than metal. Thats what cheaper build quality means, its quite simple

Yes the quality of the build. Some might argue the 5C is more durable than the 5/5S. The 5S certainly looks more exquisite and I don't doubt the build quality is phenomenal from a manufacturing standpoint. When I got my silver 5 last year it reminded me of a finely crafted watch. It was flawless and the tolerances were unbelievable. But it is more delicate and probably more prone to scratches and scuffs than the 5C.

For me when someone says cheaper build quality I think of something that feels like corners were cut during manufacturing. I guess if one wants to argue that using plastic over aluminum is cutting corners they can but people who don't have to baby their phone or stick it in a case would probably disagree.

Wow could you be any more arrogant?

But isn't the entire premise of this thread to defend a personal choice by seeking out approval from strangers?

If you're really going to judge happiness by expression, the happiest iPhone users are the ones who are silent because they are confident enough in their purchases that they dont care what anonymous internet users think about it.

I was smoothly going along with the tenor of this thread and then there you are- making perfectly good sense and causing me to change my mind.

Had no intentions of upgrading until the 6 was out but damn this is a nice phone. Really liking the yellow and green. I guess I could always ETF and sell my current one unlocked to make up for the ETF. Decisions decisions.

I'm sorry to offend you but my PERSONAL OPINION is that the 5c is ****. People deserve better than this kind of junk from Apple in 2013. How is the slimy plastic back on the 5c any better than a POS Samsung S4? Yes it's thicker and heftier but the texture is still the same: slippery plastic. Also why don't you focus on the subject matter at hand rather than attacking me personally?

Nothing wrong with the 5C, I really like it.

Edit. I take that back.

I finally got to play with a 5C at the Apple Store in Lincoln Park. It felt like any other modern plastic smartphone too me. I could see how someone could wonder if it's plastic or ceramic.

I was there with a friends girlfriend and she wanted the 5C because of its price. She couldn't justify paying more for the 5S as she was upgrading from the 4 so in either were a big upgrade.

Overall it's a nice phone but it's still a cheap version of last years phone for the same price the 5 should be selling for. And although this is my opinion the color selection sucks! Why no black?!

That's assuming Apple could/would have lowered the price of the 5 $100.

You're right in me assuming but I feel it's a safe assumption. Just compare the 5 price (when it was new) to the iPad 4. The iPad had more of everything and was more expensive in nearly every way (minus a flash) yet the iPhone was more expensive to purchase. It's just supply and demand.

It's no secret Apple has some of the highest profit margins in the biz. They just don't want to cut them.

This is overall my real problem with the 5c. "It felt like any other modern plastic smartphone…"

We say here that we should be content with our choices and that we should not be influenced by the opinion of anonymous internet users. So why buy an Apple product at all?

Why buy the 5c if it's just the same as any other plastic Android or WinMo phone?

Another one of my problems with the 5c. Or with Apple. The 5s doesn't even have a black option and that is one the major reasons I bought my iPhone 5.

Are you 5 or 6? I've held a C and a Galaxy and their different feels. Drop the ****.

Part of my issues with this years devices is that black was left out. I personally prefer the black over white. That said I do own a White iPhone 5c and as far as the overall quality of the phone I don't understand how some people have said it feels like any other android phone because it does not in the very least. It's a bit heavier the the iPhone 5/5s, but it's not a noticeable bad difference.

As far as the one guy who said its a slimy pos that's just his opinion and arrogance coming out. Obviously any phone that is touched by millions is going to feel nasty. At my local Apple Store the 5 s's feel nasty as well so ... To each there own.

Eyoungren I was going to ask you though. I know Sprint phones are locked, but when I run my IMEI it says unlocked. I know that only means for international use, but I've never asked Sprint to do this. I wonder if it's because I bought it from Apple?

This is not an attack. Instead of hijacking a thread that is clearly for people that may actually like the 5c, a good idea may be for you to get your opinion of the device aired on your own thread called "The 5c Sucks". That way, additional like minded posters would have a vehicle to air their opinions on that subject. I respect your opinion though.

This. Exactly well said!

I don't disagree and am not defending the 5C pricing. Only suggesting we can't know for sure Apple would have cut the 5's price by 100. But I still think the 5C is more about differentiation than anything else. It's Apple creating a product portfolio around the iPhone. Time will tell if Apple wasn't aggressive enough with pricing.

I own the 5S and it's definitely the latest.. greatest depends on your needs and scenario.

I think the 5C is an awesome phone too. 64bit, etc.. are cool, but to an extent not really fully taken advantage of yet. The M7 on the other hand I see taking off. I'm into fitness and already enjoying some apps that use this.

Get what you want end of the day though. I was almost sold on the blue 5C.

I agree. The blue 5C is attractive to me as well and the phone really does feel nice in your hand. No way in hell I'm breaking my contract or giving up my 5 for it though. If I could get one off Craigslist trading some random item I don't need anymore, I'd be a happy camper.

So in other words, let's keep this thread a circle jerk about how glorious the 5c is and not have any differing opinions. Gotcha.

It's okay to have different opinions. Just no troll comments like yours :)

Oh, and hypocrite much? Saying people are drinking the "kool aid" for liking the iPhone 5C. Newsflash thats their opinion too haha.

So because I made the observation that the plastic of the S4 feels just as greasy as the 5c, I must be 5 or 6 years old? Btw read more carefully, I did say that the the 5c's plastic is thicker and has more heft, I said that the texture feels the same.

Yeah, black is a major choice driver for me. The last three phones I've had since 2005 have all been black and that was a conscious choice. My 3GS, which was given to me is black too. So, not having black as a choice is a major hit to me.

Anyway, I will say again that because the 5c is an iPhone that makes it awesome. I just don't like it as a personal choice, just like I don't like the iPhone 4 and 4s. But I don't begrudge anyone owning those phones.

As to Sprint, I'll PM you so the Mods don't delete my post for being off topic. :D

My first instincts when seeing the phone was that it was just a cheap version of the 5 (in a way it is)

Yep. That's the iPhone 5C. A cheap version of the 5.

I understand upgrading from the 4S or an older model to the 5C, just as I understood people last year upgrading from the 4 to the 4S after Apple released the iPhone 5.

I wouldn't really call it an update to go from the iPhone 5 to the 5C, though. There are likely objective facts stating that it's actually a downgrade (durability, etc).

I have to believe the polycarbonate on the 5c is much more durable than the plastic they used for the 3G and 3GS. My 3G had hairline cracks and I babied that phone, never dropped it, never was rough with it.

I have done A LOT of things with my 3GS, REALLY a lot; and it still looks as new. No cracks here.

I like how opting out of the circle jerk and having a differing view automatically renders my comments as "trolling". Also the Kool Aid comment was directed at the person that said that the 5c's plastic practically felt like metal. If that's not a serious case of Kool Aid O/D I don't know what is.

I didn't say that, I actually said having different opinions is okay. But your comments were clearly trolling.
