I like how opting out of the circle jerk and having a differing view automatically renders my comments as "trolling". Also the Kool Aid comment was directed at the person that said that the 5c's plastic practically felt like metal. If that's not a serious case of Kool Aid O/D I don't know what is.

I believe that everyone is entitled to there own opinions. They are. My opinion is that the 5c is a very nice phone and anytime you go by a display model at an Apple store that has had millions of hands touch it the. It's going to be slimy and greasy. Last night at my Apple Store there were as many people looking at 5 c's as they were 5s's. The 5c's had more teens/ early 20's people looking at them. I did look at both phones and to be honest the 5s was slimy and nasty dirty as well especially the screen. I just don't believe going by a device you see in an Apple Store is a good thing to base it off of. My fiancee's 5c is nice. She cleans it almost daily and it's very very nice and not nasty and grimy.

I understand it's your opinion and I respect it, but I just believe your basing it off of something that's not going to give you the best idea of the Device. Just my opinion

I'll just add here in regards to the handling of phones by customers at stores. You also have to keep in mind that Apple customers also bring their kids and that a lot of times these devices serve as temporary babysitters while mom or dad are busy with the store employees.

My iPhone 3GS is the phone my kids play with and I usually disinfect it with a wipe every so often and wash my hands afterwards. Two kids with runny noses, sneezing and coughing on the phone and wiping their noses with their hands and then handling the phone.

Get any kids like that in a store handling the display models…well you probably get the idea.

Not that this changes my opinion, but just a factor to consider.

I'm switching from T-Mobile to Sprint so I ordered me and my family a few of the iPhone 5C phones. If I like it I'll keep it and if not I'll simply exchange it for the 5S. At this point, long as I can text, email, and talk consistently I can really care less what the iPhone looks like anymore.

This was exactly my point. Last night when I was at Apple there were plenty of children handling the "colored" devices. Mom and dad was at the Genius Bar the kids were at the iPhone 5c's. When you have that kind of handling going on it's going to be nasty and grimy. It's not like they take clothes nightly and clean them.

Having replaced my iPhone 5 in for a 5 c a week ago, I can honestly say I love it more. It feels much more solid and iOS 7 just goes really well with its coloured trim and backside.

I have seen a lot of people complain about the 5C because it's not what they were expecting and say it looks cheap and plastic, but having held one it's a totally different story, and all my friends agree and say the same thing, and that is that it looks dead smart.

I know the 5S is the latest and greatest

You made a very smart choice. Personally I like the 5C far better than the 5S I bought & eventually gave to a family member. I wanted to try it, and indeed it didn't offer anything of substantial benefit to me. Good thing I kept my iP5. Yet I'll probably give that away and buy a 5C for its superior ergonomics, same great specs, and a bit larger & more comfortable to hold.

I think the 5C is okay, but I can't see how it's an upgrade rather than sidegrade to the 5. Basically, if you put the 5 in a case, you have a 5C (in terms of thickness, weight, and appearance). The internals are effectively the same. The "well I like it"/"it's a good phone" argument isn't an argument as it has no tangible basis. You can go 100% against all logic and still say it... Usually reserved for those who are otherwise defeated or realize their preference (which is still okay!) is not based on what's necessarily best.

I can see it for those who were going to buy the 5 once the 5S was released anyways, or as a first iphone, or upgrade from an older phone. My mother is considering a 5C as her first iPhone.

What I find strange is that iOS 7 seems to look better on the white-faced iPhones, yet the 5C only has black fronts.

The colorful iPods have a white front so having the phones with a black front is probably a differentiation.

But other iPhones have white fronts, and in any case, the iPods have metal casing.

Doesn't bother me any, I don't like the white fronts much, or iOS 7's obsession with white lit borders to photos and album art.

I love the 5C its a really nice looking phone. If I was getting one for my partner who needs a great phone but isnt as careful as me with stuff its the best option

Very few people (including 5c fans) have claimed it is an "upgrade" to the 5. I don't think Apple has claimed this either. However it doesn't need to be. As a 5c owner I would not recommend any 5 owner buy the phone. I upgraded from the 4S and have found the phone to be fantastic. At the end of the day it runs iOS7 beautifully with strong battery life, which is the main task of any iPhone.

5c feeling great in hand.

Apart from the white one, the other colours I just find childish. They should have included a black one, would have been a good alternative to the 5s.

I'm yet to see a 5c on the street in London.

It's a nice jump from the 4s. To be honest ios7 is so smooth on the 5, it's really ideal. The people claiming that the 5s is so much faster, are trying to justify thier purchase, I have both and there is really so little In the speed for day to day operation. In time when apps become more demanding the 5s will have the edge, right now, camera and finger scanner are the only practical advantages.

Was a dinner party last night and used the phone. One person said "that's a cool case on your phone" :p I informed them it was the new "cheap" iPhone, and handed it around. They said "how is it cheap?" Explained the new processor on the 5s, etc, but people were unconvinced. "Nice phone" they said. As far as running iOS7, 5c, 5s and 5 (and frankly the 4S) look identical to most users.

While still waiting for my gold 5s to get delivered, I decided to stop by Best Buy today and check out the 5c.

I held it side by side with my iPhone 5 and then looked at all the colors together. Leading up to the phone's release, I never thought that I'd want a 5c, but after finally checking it out in person, I was surprised with how nice it actually is.

Considering that Best Buy was selling them for $50 cheaper, I ended up picking up a green 5c using another one of my lines' upgrades. I'm still not positive if I'll end up keeping the 5c or switching to the 5s whenever it finally comes in, but the 5c is actually quite impressive and I would be perfectly happy using this as my main phone.

I'm definitely enjoying the time I have with it for now. I don't know if it's just the newness of this device or what, but I currently prefer the 5c to my 5. We'll see if this keeps up for the next few days.

I went to get i5 screen replaced at Apple today, and while I waited I played with the 5Cs.

All I can say is photos do the 5C no justice. Boy is it a beautiful phone! It feels it extremely good in the hand. The colors really pop out too.

If I didn't have the 5 I would be all over the 5C.

Going from a 5 to the 5c felt like more of an upgrade than 4 to 4s or 4s to 5. It's the freshest feeling iphone I've owned in years and possibly my favourite. Didn't want or need touch sensor because I download one app every few days and don't use a pin lock. Didn't believe the camera rubbish because they pushed that feature improvement even more with the previous upgrades and the difference was always hardly noticeable. Didn't want another phone that would be cold to hold with sharp edges, and would inevitably have a big ugly scratch at some point unless I bought a case. Basically, I am very happy right now with a blue 5C!

I took my daughter (13) and mother (71) in to the Apple store to upgrade from their iPhone 4, they both love the 5c. I was impressed by the build quality and as others have mentioned it does feel good in hand. The only cost of the upgrade was the activation charge as they traded in their 4, so it seems like a good value, I didn't want the hassle of eBay or craigslist selling. For me, I am waiting to get the 5s (they had none of any type in stock) but they were selling quite a few of the 5c while we were there.

OP went from 5 to 5C, which is why I mention it. 4S to 5C = 4S to 5, which is an upgrade of course.:)

You know there's nothing new about a phone when its ads (the "greetings" ones) just show people using a phone... could be any iPhone since 4 (4, 4S, 5, 5C, 5S), and it would still be identical. But alas, those commercials are attempting to appeal to the lifestyle aspect of the iPhone.

The one thing I like about the 5C is that it seems to be made more for the human hand (a little grippier, thicker, curved edges) than the 4/5 bodies.

I'm not trying to slam your opinion, but don't you get that same "fresh feeling" from putting on a new case?

Don't get me wrong. I like the 5c and got a few of my dumb-phone aunts to finally upgrade so I understand the reason it exists in the market. BUT, I feel the missed opportunity with the "C" series is that they shouldve made it thicker to accomodate a bigger battery.

The 5s is obviously the better device. But imagine the purchase dilemma if we were given a choice between TouchID/Camera/64bit (5s) vs Same Guts/New Shell/20hr Battery (5c). I think many users would consider a true all-day battery to be a more appealing feature than "Gold".

And by then the iPhone 6 will probably be out!!

I couldn't get a 5s and now I don't plan to.

I'm sticking with the 5c. It's even more premium than the original iPhone. It's made with a different kind of plastic it's almost like metal.

Highly disagree, it feels like cheap plastic to me. I can flex it and if you tap on it with your fingernail it sounds hollow.

This is me holding one so you don't think I'm "just saying that". Some of them "creaked" too if you squeezed them in the right spot.

There are some devices that your not sure if it's plastic or not. There is no mistaking the 5C is plastic.

It is plastic, but it is a very good, dense plastic. Much better than Galaxy phones, for example. If you can't have a plastic phone, the 5c isn't for you, but otherwise, the internals and feel are great

I need to know what color you picked before I can decide if you are 'girly'. :D

Just kidding, enjoy the phone. It looks nice to me. Good build quality, even if it is plastic. That is not necessarily a bad thing.

I'm not saying you speak for everyone but plastic is one of the reasons everyone talks crap about the galaxy etc. It's just funny how people say things to fit their argument at that given time.

Oh now Apple has plastic phones? Well plastic isn't that bad.. Yet two months ago plastic was the crappiest thing on the planet.

Not all plastic phones are built the same. A Nokia Lumia 920, for instance, is much more solid than a Galaxy S4. The S4 is not a bad phone, but to say it is the same in terms of build quality or solid feel as an iPhone 5c, Lumia 920, or even HTC One X is a stretch. Plus iPhones were plastic for two generations (3G and 3GS), so this is not the first plastic iPhone. A plastic phone can indeed be a premium feeling device and Apple is not the only manufacturer to pull that off.
