So does anyone know what Apple do in a situation like this, ie when an app gets out in the wild that they're not happy with and then pull. Do they have the capability of revoking it for the people that bought it? Has anything like this happened before?

I'm kind of worried about syncing my iPhone again in case Apple remove it.

What annoys me though is that I'd be happy paying O2 a bit extra every month to use my iPhone connection with my MacBook and I'd be happy with restrictions on usage. O2 offer it on other talk plans so its just stupid not making it an option for iPhone users.

ok, i'm in the UK and tried to download it, and got as far as the pop confirming the purchase, but decided to cancel seen as i dont even ave my iphone yet. does the popup box saying 'no longer available' come before this or after? might be interesting to see if different countries and operators have different views on this, not sure what 02's stance on tethering is. regardless, i would definetly pay an extra £5-10 for tethering. i'm going to uni soon, and my halls of residence charges a bomb for the internet, and have even considered a 3g dongle instead. you can o2 home broadband when you're on a o2 mobile plan for £7.50, so seems fair to offer the same to iphone customers, but use the iphone to get that broadband?

Actually if you look at the screen shots, the steps to make it work are more complicated that just tapping on the app, pretty much what I am doing now on a jailbroken phone. It's not really that bad it got pulled.

What I want is for apple to come out with a solution, where it's one tap, or an option in itunes to set up, not all this create that, then that, add that type that, lol

Its not that much work. It took me two minutes but that was only because I was reading the instructions from within the app on the iPhone so I had to keep jumping around. Could of done it in 30 secs if I had a printed copy.

Though they are slightly complicated if you don't know your way round Wifi, IP addresses and so on - I could see a lot of people having problems getting it to work.

I sure hope this app doesn't get removed.

Nullriver makes some of the best damn apps period. Well respected dev.

Its definitely gone in the UK as well. It shows up if you search for it but if you click on it to view or buy it comes up saying its no longer available.

I just have to say, why buy the chicken, when you can get the eggs for free?

ye i totally agree. why pay for Sunny Delights, when you can have a Godzilla for nothing?

(i'm joking, i have no clue what you're on about. i presume jailbreaking the iphone? but then you're paying up the ass for data charges i presume?)

Same in Australia. There one minute, unavailable the next...

Watch...this will have negatives...rofl.

It's nice to know I can legally tether? Yay!

I gave this a negative as it is no longer available.

Maybe server problem or something? iTunes was just updated and I can't believe that whoever at Apple checking the App store hadn't heard of Nullriver before.

OK this is AWESOME!!!!

With a Mac you can just create a "Tether" location with all the settings saved. You only have to input all the information once, then it's just selecting the location. Blammo.

I used the free jailbreak version earlier in the airport when my plane got delayed. It kills your battery, but it was really useful in the end. The setup part wasn't enough to phase me in particular, but it seems like it might be a bit much for someone who hasn't done something similar before. Hope it's eventually made legit.

Iv managed to get the app before the app was taken down. Could someone maybe human-ize the instructions for me. Like how i find my TCP IP address and such? Please mates? walk through

If AT&T was smart

If AT&T was smart, they would develop their own tethering application and sell it for $30 bucks on the appStore.

They would see immediate (but minor) up front revenue from the tens of thousands of folks that would purchase the app, and it would further tie and cement the relationship between AT&T and their customers.

Why they continue this dance on egg-shells approach baffles me.

I used to use my MacBook Pro tethered to my Blackberry with no problems and unlimited access. Granted it was a little difficult to get setup, but for gods sake AT&T has an opportunity to take the cake as a fantastic wireless provider.

WaTF are they waiting for?

I'm so pissed that I missed out on this. This is what I get for not sitting at my desk 24/7.

Oh well, lesson learned.

How does it work

Is this thing based on bluetooth, or what? How does the computer connect to the iphone?

Just use the examples they give in the walkthrough.

For Canada

After looking at the screen shot, I noticed a Canadian cell provider in the top right corner. Maybe Canada was the intended market.

For those of us who got it, is there any speculation as to whether or not syncing will cause the app to vanish... Or worse yet, problems with syncing?

EDIT: That's the left corner... :)
