No, data is so damn expensive NOT because its expensive to deliver, nor is it because its hard to deliver, the SINGLE reason why it is so expensive is because theres no competition at all whatsoever and the carriers can get away w/ charging w/e they want. Just look at text messages and keep in mind that its nothing more then just data - and a kb of it at that, how in hell does that add up to 20 cents per message? and yeah yeah, theres fools out there trying to excuse the prices w/ some stupid arguments like it being more network intensive, requiring some special w/e etc bull**** - its all just data.

Too bad NASA doesn't offer mobile services. It costs the carriers much more to deliver a MB of SMS data than it does to deliver a MB of regular internet data.
Just an official reply from Nullriver....
We're not quite sure why Apple took down the application yet, we've received no communication from Apple thus far. NetShare did not violate any of the Developer or AppStore agreements.

If this did not violate the SDK, this proves that Apple is AT&T's beech. I cant believe something like this gets on the app store, yet, mobile chat is still in processing... Why is mobile chat getting such a hard look but this tethering app isnt?! that makes NO SENSE!!!![]()
if someone posts this app on torrents, can another person feasibly use it ?
No, of course not. Apps from the App Store are just like music, movies or any other content from the iTunes Store. Its all protected by Apple's DRM (apps included).
If you wanna give it a try, theres still a Super Monkey Ball torrent out there, except w/o the password to authorize it the account w/ which it was purchased on your computer you can't use it at all.
This isn't technically tethering, so it might avoid legal/contract issues.
Technically the app using the data is the proxy server on the iphone. The iphone is *not* routing a second device (ie your computer) onto the net. So, technically, it's just like any other iphone app that uses data.
Another example would be say, running a VNC server on the iphone and connecting to it from your computer and browsing the net with it. You're still browsing the net with an iphone app, you're just controlling it remotely. (And if this seems useless, consider running a compiled X11 version of firefox over ssh with X forwarding.) This shouldn't violate a contract either.
You can't run a device as a server per the agreement I am pretty sure.
The fact that this maks it a proxy server makes it in violation.
D@MN!!!!
That's what I get for not checking MR last nightI would have been all over this!
So what's the likelihood that Apple will let it back on? I mean as smart phone tethering goes right now it's "on your honor" to pay the $30 if you use it that way. Most people who just use it while on vacation or something like that don't pay the $30 (in fact, I'd guess that none of the people who use it on vacation pay for it). Of course AT&T might require you to pony up to $30 if you get this app but that would total and complete crap.
I wish I would have downloaded it![]()

Why should we have to pay more its the Same data being transfered to a computer.... Blackberry users get it for free....
