Sad but true?

Ok guys I think I might burst quite a few bubbles (including mine) but here's a couple of things I realised while looking around the forums:
1) Student offer ends Oct. 31 ... This means that Apple will NOT release a new macbook series while this offer stands right?
2)The previous macbooks and updates were released in November.

Now, from these two facts I come to the conclusion (logical one..or at least more logical than the "14th Oct" rumor) that the new macbook series will be released in November.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm trying to think logically and not just rely on rumors.

They always update the iPods during the student promo and just revise the terms to say it doesn't include the new models.

dude, it doesnt make sens : the 14th october rumour was bringed to the table a few times, so thats logic

student offer? Who cares, it's not even in the States

I don't think the student offer would hold them back. I think they would just apply the student offer to the new macbooks as well then. I am REALLY hoping for an October 14th release. C'mon get those invites sent out apple its almost 7:30pm ET

Quick question -

Is it feasible that any sort of invitation was either not leaked by its addressees, or covered under a NDA of some sort? I know that's not the norm, but, after the whole App Store fiasco, someone at Apple could still be a little NDA trigger-happy...

In any case, I hope we hear some news soon, already!

i really doubt there will be an event like everyone is saying.

i think they will silently release them on their sales site like they did with previous notebook releases.

also, as said earlier in this thread, the whole idea behind an event is to show off new software. there isnt any new software out, that we know of.

if there really is an event, it will be a really short one because all they have is hardware.

Why on earth would an invitation to a new product launch be under NDA?

Ars Technica cites “grapevine” sources claiming that Macbook and iMac updates may not be launched via a big press event. This seems very plausible to Mac Predictions. After all, when Apple launched the first Intel Macbooks, which introduced a brand new enclosure, glossy screens and a built-in iSight camera, this was done with minimal fanfare and a simple press release in May 2006. It’s quite plausible that the new Macbook Pro will get a similar low-key launch, with Phil Shiller taking a few press enquires by telephone, and not much more. Dare we trot out that old Mac Rumors forum classic “new Macbook Pros on Tuesday”?

Didn't they have an event called "something fun" or something like that and announce some iPod speaker dock and something else really insignificant?

It wouldn't make sense.
The point of an event is to show new products, not to hide them:)

Possible, but, then again, MacRumors Forums have been cited as grapevine sources on more than one occasion (Case in point: The fake MacBook Pro ad that was all over Digg back in August) :D

It's weird, because sometime they launch small products or small refreshes (like the let's rock event) with an event.
Sometimes, it's big(like the macbooks) and it's silent

So we never know

I hope so. I'm ready to upgrade. I wonder if MacMall will have them the same day they're announced assuming they're going to be available in stores. I bought my previous MacBook there and got it cheaper than from Apple and didn't have to pay sales tax.

NEW DELHI: Apple is back in the Web buzz. And the spotlight this time is not on iPhone or iPod, but on MacBook.

After a flurry of launches by Apple this year which includes its iconic mobile device 3G iPhone, the new line of iPods and the lightest laptop MacBook Air, Apple is now expected to refresh its MacBook models next week.

If Web reports are to be believed, Apple will unveil the new MacBook at a press event on October 14. But the bigger news is that Apple's new MacBook cases will be machined out of one solid chunk of aluminum.

This will mean that Apple will introduce a new manufacturing method that will make its laptops smaller, sleeker and lighter.

The process will involve cutting out the body of the laptop from one solid chunk of aluminum. Reportedly called MacBook Brick, the brick/chunk will be cut out with lasers and jets of water to produce one case for the new MacBook models. The new models will come with a LED-backlit display and is expected to sell at an aggressive entry-level price point.

Also, reports suggest that Apple might do the final assembly of the product in-house. This means Apple is all set to get in the business of manufacturing notebooks. Till now the manufacturing process of MacBook was outsourced to Chinese or Taiwanese manufacturers like Foxconn. But, now it seems Apple is in charge.

The new process is expected to make design changes faster and reduce costing. Experts say it would not require bending of the metal and even eliminates the need for screws to hold the case together. In fact these models are expected to be unlike any notebook available in the market in appearance and design. Seems like a good Jobs, all over again!

Who's to say that New Delhi News website got all there new information regarding the new macbooks from this website?

i dont think there will be an event
tell me. when was the last time apple gave 2 events in 2 months?
