that option is becoming more and more probable. Since the 9th June, O2 have had one thing to sort out! And they have f**cked it quite royally. This is such a joke!

To be fair, we get the bulk of the upgrades with 2.0 anyway. And I'd rather have a nice working iphone that hasn't been rushed out of the door of the factory to fulfil customer orders.

Existing o2 iphone customers have until October to upgrade, so I'm just going to wait it out.

The whole online deal was I'd imagine to alleviate pressure of sales coming through the shops, meaning more contracts and iPhone could be signed for sold and delivered.

PPPPPP O2.

True, but why then open up the floor to new customers online!

Surely upgrades ONLY online would have stemmed this mess!!!!

All that O2 had to do on iPhone V1 launch night was get the phones out the door and they f*cked up.

Just spoke to O2 and they said the site wont come back online until this afternoon, but you can upgrade in shop on the 11th. which means you can probably get a white iphone that way.

I got two emails straight after ordering. "Thank you for your O2 order" followed by "Important news about your O2 order". Still says In Progress, and although they've taken the money out of my account (twice!) I don't think I/we have yet passed the credit check.

Also, nothing will change until at least Thursday...they'll only be sending them out that afternoon/evening. So it's fingers crossed for us all!

Ok - well I did the credit check in store last week so don't see a problem there - just waitnig for full and final confirm

Just a reminder - if you are a new customer try going through Quidco first. You have nothing to lose and could get 35 pounds back..

I've gone through Quidco and am now waiting for it to 'track'. However, it says on the Quidco page that this could take 2 days with O2..

I'm still getting the whole upgrade shop is offline page. How can one company be so incompetent when it comes to an online order process? I mean it's not like they weren't expecting it to be popular. They had over 200,000 people pre register their interest. Surely that was the first clue that it was going to be busy?

oh btw... while the site was up.. it was saying that there was a extra something for being loyal? anyone know what that was/is?

Maybe that kind of thing wasn't thought through...

We'll see - seeing as O2 can swing from in store pre-orders and checks, to an online store pretty quickly, they may well change their tune about how things happen online too, rather than trying to just fix the order side of things online.

I hear the being loyal reward is a lengthy frustrating wait. But then we may have to pick that prize up at the store ;)

Can you please confirm that this is correct? I am sure that the way I read it you are unable to upgrade anywhere but online.

I saw that too. It says that for all upgrades for existing customers whether to iPhone or not. I am pretty sure it is nothing. As far as I got in the order process, there was no option to choose something "extra." Not convinced by that at all. A free bolt-on for upgrading would be nice.

It might just be early termination of old contract for free. It could be to do with the rewards scheme for existing customers - extra minutes/texts. Who knows!

You can upgrade in any 02 shop from 8.02am on Friday unless the shop is inside a shopping centre. This is confirmed on 02 website. So you wont need to wait for the mail man.

Have a look here under O2 Customers
http://www.o2.co.uk/iphone/paymonthly

Towards the bottom it states:

"Upgrade online.

The iPhone 3G will then be available for upgrade from 11th July at 8.02am in any of our O2 high street stores. Any stores in shopping centres will open at their usual times."

Existing O2 customers who are NON iPhone users can upgrade online now (if it was working) or in store from friday. iPhone customers must upgrade online.

It actually said 'an extra 'thank you' for existing customer'....

...so thats it they will add an extra 'thank you' at the bottom of the receipt!

Something like this;

Thank you for purchasing the iPhone 3G,

Hope you enjoy the phone

Again thank you

O2

See, notice they will say thank you TWICE!!!

MUPPETS!!!!!!

Hi peeps

I found the following on the o2 web site

http://www.o2.co.uk/iphone/paymonthly

O2 Customers Tab

Under the upgrade online section.

The iPhone 3G will then be available for upgrade from 11th July at 8.02am in any of our O2 high street stores. Any stores in shopping centres will open at their usual times.

Good News.

Ok cool. But do you still need to go through the whole online upgrade order process or just go into the store on the 11th and then speak to them there and then?

has anyone actually managed to get an order through yet? If so, was there an option for the white phone?

Only new customers managed to get orders through, and only at aprox 8:00. There is no option for the white iPhone, because the black is better :p
