Hi,

Just phoned O2, spoke to a lady.

"Its all a bit of a mess to be quite honest because everyone wants an iPhone"

An honest O2 employee, thought I would never see the day!

I think a fair few have managed to get it to work. I posted back on page 5 or 6 saying mine worked, its just this thread is so long already we can't see all the people that have had no issue.
Personally I ordered at about 08:50 with no issue whatsoever, did a new customer £30 a month with £7.50 unlimited text with a 16Gb Black.
I'd not have had a clue anything was wrong with the site if I hadn't come on here as got no error messages at all, and then got a confirmation email a few seconds later. I've also now had a second email saying the order has been taken to the warehouse. I've also checked it online and it says "in progress" with all the correct options.
The only slight odd thing is now the order tracking doesn't work and just keeps taking saying "thank you for logging in. click here to go back to homepage".
I'm not trying to rub anyone's face in it or anything, just saying that it clearly has worked for some, and we should remember this thread (as with most forums) will be full of those who are having problems (and I do feel for you, I really do) rather than the many (most probably more) who had no issues.

You were fine because you were a new customer. Everyone trying to upgrade is having serious issues. I have not seen anyone saying they have successfully upgraded yet, either from an iPhone contract, or another O2 contract. It is us loyal customers that have been screwed by this.

I find this really annoying. They knew the level of interest was growing and have had a month to get ready (even longer i suggest).

Perhaps what will be most telling is how this process is handled by other operators around the world.

If more have problems, then perhaps Apple were being somewhat difficult with information etc

You know last night I had a dream that I was trying to get the upgrade but it kept failing. And here I am 11:45 and no damn upgrade.

I'm not still dreaming am I?

O2 CS are getting all the flack from the management screwup, so it's not surprising they're a bit frustrated.

It seems O2 looked at their preregistrations and thought "Nobody is really going to want one of these things, let's stick half a dozen on the website and see if we can sell any"

I think that's the important thing as new customers seemed to be able to get phones easier than upgraders.

CPW now taking pre-orders. Just got an email.

See how CPW throw in insurance automatically for about £11/month! Cheeky. That is exactly why I dont want to order through CPW. But O2 are not helping themselves here.

Ah, that makes sense, I suppose it is more complicated to setup if its an upgrade rather than a new contract. Stupid o2, you'd think if anything existing customers should get some sort of priority, not risk now loosing out on a 16Gb model online.
They really don't seem to have thought enough about getting this all working right.

CPW have their info wrong. Says 800 mins on the £35 pcm tariff? Here.

From O2's point of view it makes no sense to give existing customers priority - they're already paying money. New customers are increased income.
