Just had another email from O2.

Dear xx xxxxx xxxxx,

Re: Order Number xx-xxxxxxxxx

This email contains important information about your order.

** New Orders **

Your order is still being processed and, if accepted, should be despatched to you within the next 5 days. Any iPhone 3G orders will be delivered on or after 11th July.

We'll email or send you an SMS to confirm when your order has been accepted and despatched so that you'll know when to expect your delivery. You will need to sign for the delivery, but don't worry if you're not in, the courier will leave you details to rearrange delivery.

If you selected a chargeable delivery option a refund will be applied automatically to your credit/debit card within the next 10 days.

The easiest way to track your order is by visiting www.o2.co.uk/trackyourorder

** Repair/ Replacement Orders **

If you've had your handset for more than 28 days and have arranged a repair replacement with our Returns Helpline, we would kindly remind you that the replacement will be despatched from our distribution centre on receipt of your faulty handset.

You will shortly be sent an O2 Returns Notification email with your Returns Authorisation Number (RAN) and the address to send back the faulty handset. Please make sure you clearly quote the RAN on the outer packaging.

On receipt of your faulty handset at this address we'll get your replacement handset sent to you immediately.

To avoid any complications caused by phones going missing in transit, we do recommend that you use either the Recorded Delivery or Special Delivery options provided by Royal Mail.

If you've already returned your faulty handset, there's no need to take any further action. Your repair replacement will be despatched on receipt of your faulty handset.

Thank you for choosing O2.

Regards,

O2

O2 have successfully provided the worst upgrade path ever. I started at 8am and have never had such a frustrating time to buy anything online, obviously they didnt do any scalability testing.

The upgrade site also looks like someone went overkill with AJAX, I know its suppose to be WEB 2.0 and so on, but seriously, time and place... It's just not v

I've still not been able to purchase anything, but in a roundabout way I'm glad I'm not the only one...

Well after 5 hours of trying and I have finally ordered a 16bg one through the upgrade process. I'm just waiting for another email which says "16GB are out of stock..." At least I have an order number though!

Ok, Just been to the o2 store:

- They are only doing new sign ups...NO UPGRADES
- They put me through to customer services and basically 16gb Iphone is sold out and you will have to wait for new stock. I expressed my fustration and trying to do this since 8am and several times reaching the confirmation only for it to crash and have logged a complaint.

Not good....not happy. Alas I am stuck with o2 if I want an Iphone 3G

Statement to the Media

Just found this nugget on the Telegraph website:

"Due to extremely high levels of demand, the O2 online shop is temporarily unavailable. We are working to restore the service as quickly as possible. Customers who are unable to place an order online can still go into store from 8.02am on 11 July, although we urge people to get down there early as demand is expected to be very high," said O2 in a statement.

Note in the statement o2 do not distinguish between new comers and existing iPhone owners

What would happen if I claimed under my insurance?? Since old stock has run out and new stock has run out would I be without a phone?

Wouldn't have had this problem with orange or vofafone... Maybe Steve will switch next time!!

Have hated o2 since they threatened me with court for oweing them £0.00 LOL fraks

Si

Still pissed at no White! :(

I got as far as payment details... I entered them and pressed on accept and I am waiting and waiting...

And it timed out and went back to the default form... sighhh

How many times people? Existing customers will NOT be able to upgrade in store or by phone. You have to order online.

Remember, you have an outstanding contract with O2 for a great number of months yet. O2 is doing everyone a favour by allowing you to terminate that contract early, but they are under no obligation to.

I would expect that the stores would have no technical way to upgrade iPhone customers before their due date because they will likely only have access to the same systems as they have always had.

If you are an existing iPhone customer and go to an O2 store on Friday, you will be disappointed.

"demand is expected to b very high". So O2 keep telling us!!! So why the F**k did they not sort out the website? Seriously. What a joke!

Still waiting!

Just had another email from O2.

I am a new customer and placed my order at about 10am and have not yet received any confirmation emails?! Should i be worried? I do have an order number and can do that "track your order" bit, but its always nice to know that everythings in order!

How can demand be unprecedented and unexpectedly high when O2 had a pre-registration signup going? That would have given them an idea of just how many people would have been wanting a phone. So they maybe open it up to them on day one, existing O2 non-iPhone customers on day two, then brand new customers on day three.

Just an idea.

But hats off to the person who suggested the design for the upgrade website. So many questions about that one...

Well, I've been trying to upgrade online, and am asked to enter my mobile number to get texted my upgrade code. That works and I received the text. But then once the loading icon has stopped and the page comes back, there is not anywhere to enter the upgrade code?.

Now, I have read some of the posts saying that people have spoken to O2 customer services who said that you WILL be able to upgrade in store on friday, BUT I just spoke to the manager of the O2 store in Maidstone in Kent, and they said that you will NOT be able to upgrade in store. The reason for this is that when you do this online, the system knows that you have not completed your original 18 month contract and just overides it to give you the upgrade. BUT, the system in store does not have this capability. They said that if they entered you mobile number in their system it would just say that you have not completed your contract and so you are not eligible for and upgrade yet!!!!.

I cannot believe that their systems cannot be linked for such a simple procedure. F*****g unbelievable.

If the servers are getting hammered, they should introduce a queuing system, where it counts down until you can start your order.

That way it wouldn't get overloaded. Think like those free download hosting sites.

If anyone from O2 is reading this!!!

Are people still getting on to the upgrade site?

It is just hanging with a blank page for me?

But after it was processing payment it went to the default failed form!

And I can't get back into it now! The most useless online ordering system ever!

I have an order number and printed the confirmation page but I've had no email.

how do I track my order to ensure it worked?

If you have an order number your order is safe. Don't bother tracking things right now.

how do you know that? I've had no email confirmation and my "my o2" section shows no mention of my order.

The computer generates an order confirmation number when it has successfully added your information to the database.

I got right to the credit card bit. Pressed confirm order and then it timed out. I didn't see any order confirmation screen.

However, now I can't do the upgrade process as it tells me this number already has an upgrade in progress. Spoke to o2 customer services who seem so stressed out with it all they simply weren't interested in what I was saying. Just kept saying try again later.

I give up.

Maybe I might get a confirmation email later. Who knows!

Whoever decided to use Ajax for this website needs to be fired NOW! Like someone else said, there is a time and a place for Ajax and a high demand website like this is not one of them!
