My UTD status still says.
Ships by: Oct 25 - Oct 29
Delivers by: Oct 29 - Nov 2

I'm in Seattle, but since I just got my iMac I didn't order it until earlier this week. I'm just doinking around now, with the notion that I'm going to wipe it clean with Leopard when it arrives. Would be nice to have had it for the weekend, but I'm having enough fun with the new iMac to worry about Leopard too much.

Purchased my new Imac at a Apple Retail store on October 2nd.

Tried to use up to date online and it said it couldn't process my serial number and to apply by mail so I did.

Didn't think about it again until today so I check my status and got a big REJECTED. Everything I sent them was in order.

I was enjoying my newfound Apple life...until now.

If you live close enough to the store (or even a different one) to make it worth the trip, you might be able to get it straightened out. I'm sure a lot of stuff is automated and you probably got caught up in an error. The managers have a little bit of clout there, it seems. The sales manager in St. Louis took good care of me once, bypassing the "rules" to help me.

Heh. Yeah. I don't think the iLife apps are going to change much with Leopard.

Did you refresh/check again? Mine goes from 29th to 30th with each refresh. Hmm. Makes you wonder about automation sometimes.
Unless we're getting one on each day. There's two on order in the same "ticket".

yeah it switches almost every time i refresh. don't know what that means

I ordered mine over a week ago, and it said 'ships by: October 26'. Just now the status changed to 'shipped: via federal express' with a tracking number etc.

However.... the tracking number says it was delivered in MAY 2006

That must mean i have been using Leopard for a while already..... Except it went to Idaho. :(

Wonder if they will fix it. ?

Rejected!

Just got back from the Apple Store where I purchased my iMac and explained my case. We found out my new iMac 2.8 ghz 24" Alum had a different Part Number than what matches on the qualifying computers list. They think there's a typo on the qualifying computers list since all Imac part numbers start with MA and everything in their stock starts with MB. But if this was the case there would be TONS of rejected customers. I haven't seen a rejected issue except for me. Perhaps all the IMacs sent to this Apple Store had a typo on the Part Numbers? Whatever the case may be they said I had to wait until Monday after they talk to their supervisors about the issue.
???

Anyone has "Up-To-Date" OS X packaging pics, is it the same pretty box or the low key upgrade envelope and CD? Mine will arrive on Monday.

Mine says it's goint to get here on the 30th. Went by the Tampa Apple Store tonight to check out the hoopla. Played with Leopard a bit.

Ordered on the 19th, it shipped on the 25th, supposedly will come on the 29th. I am hoping (against hope) that it'll arrive until tomorrow. But I can survive until Monday, really! (My Mac Mini arrived a week ago.)

You can Archive and Install, technically speaking Upgrading has the same meaning as Archive and Install. Upgrade is used because you are installing a new operating system.

The limitation of this Upgrade DVD is that you must have 10.4 installed before it will proceed cos thats was wat the disc was checking before installation.

@Ice-Cube: so no way to do a "format and install" Leopard installation even if Tiger is already on th HD ?

Thanks.

Guys I just got mine in. Its only a Upgrade Dvd not a full retail one. Along came with it was the user guide. Preparing to install now. :)

Such a pathetic question but did it come with any packaging or just a disc in a slip envelope and the user manual?

The status of mine says backordered! I have no idea when mine is going to show up. Anyone else's say that?

If erase and install was what you meant, yes the installer can erase the previous operating system and install leopard.

Thank you for this!

I have been looking for this answer for a LONG while now.

So how about those pics?

Some nice High Res photos and good lightening please :)

EDIT: The following is directed at ICE-Cube:

Not wishing to sound pissy, but are you sure that Erase and Install is there? I mean from a previous post you don't seem to understand the difference between Upgrade and "Archive and Install", so are you sure you're not mistaken here? When you install did you click the "options" to see what are available, or did you just do a regular upgrade?
