Office 2008 promotion - has anybody received?

Any of you guys with Home edition in hand and no Expression Media get a response from Microsoft yet??

I havn't turned in my form yet - was debating which edition- don't need exchange support and automators actions seem virtually worthless so it seemed the home edition offering 3 licenses vs the 1 for special media edition was the obvious way to go - if they are not actually shipping Expression Media then I might change my mind (assumign Expresion is really worth having - is it??)

I don't know anything about Expression Media, but I can't imagine I'd want to use it compared to a Mac substitute (whatever that might be). For me the 3 licenses vs. exchange support are the more important factors.

But it did say the Home version should get it, so just keep pestering MS and hopefully you'll get it. It's still early, most people haven't received their shipments yet.

Ok, I started the thread and now I can conclude it myself. I received the package today. So you can pretty much ignore the confusing backorder email from Microsoft. Once your credit card is charged, you will get it in a few days, although you may still get an email informing the backorder status and delayed shipping date.

I ordered Special Media Edition, which I realized was a stupid mistake. I wasn't paying attention when I filled out the form. Home & Student would have been much better.

I got a second backorder email today that was followed thirty minutes later by and email that said it was in stock and processing.

They better be sending that media software with home, I was planning on selling it on ebay. They make good office software (their on great software) but I'm not that convinced there media software isnt some type of apple rip off.

I just made my weekly call to the number on the claim form since I haven't received any email from sending in my stuff last November. The CSR was apologetic and said they're bogged down - they expected only 10,000 upgrades and have received 50,000 requests. She assured me that it will all work out and I'll get my copy. Yay!

Looks like they underestimated the Mac market...

Has anyone that ordered the student home edition received the Expression Media as well?

Why is everyone so upset already? It says to expect up to 6-8 weeks from january 15th to start recieveing your software... The best I can figure, it's only been 2.

Call them up and tell them you want to change. I don't think they will have a problem with that.

You're right! I just called them up and they said it wouldn't be a problem to switch it. They said it will still show on the website as Special Media but they will swap it out at fulfillment (which she quoted as Late Feb/Early March).

Hope I don't run into any problems.

got it today

my credit card was billed a couple of days ago but order status still said back ordered. it just arrived today and as of yesterday it still said back ordered.....of course with all the bad press on the forums I am a little leery of installing it until they update some of the problems

As long as you are not wanting to sync with a PDA or smartphone, then the issues you run into should be minor.

I received my copy of Home and Student version today but my copy of Expression Media was missing too. Has anyone called to find out what happened?

I received my 2008 upgrade yesterday, via DHL. So far, so good! BTW, I bought my 2004 edition in December when I purchased my new iMac.

Mine came in the mail today via USPS media mail. Installed on my MBP and my wife's MB, WOW!!!! These apps are much faster and I like the new layouts a lot. For the price, it's a value!

Microsoft nightmare

I too sent in the requisite forms for my upgrade 2008 promotion in late November 2007. Not having heard from them, I sent them an e-mail.

(MS first reply) We don't have any records of any submission. --- I sent the forms.

(MS second reply) Did you send in information with tracking? --- Which I didn't. Never said on the forms to do that

(MS third reply) We are not responsible for lost mail, etc... ---- Here's my proof, I sent them PDF copies of my mailing

(MS fourth reply) Sorry, cannot accept anything electronic. We are not responsible...

At this point, I had just had it. This e-mailing back and forth took a better part of the week.

I called them last week. They had no records of my mailing which they found odd. They said they will "look" for it and to call back in two weeks.

I have very little hope of getting my upgrade to 2008. I am very upset to say the least. Anyone have any ideas on how to kick this up the chain of command or something else?
