2 Rebates/Upgrades

So I submitted two rebates/upgrades (multiples are allowed with this offer).
The first one I filled out the online form and then sent in my proofs of purchase. I'm still waiting for my special media addition, but as least I can check the status online and everything looks fine.

The second one I had to mail everything in without doing the online form because for some stupid reason microsoft took the online form down from the website on or around jan 13th. This one is causing a problem. They are claiming that they never rec'd my proofs of purchase which is probably a bunch of crap. Here's my latest emails to them:

ME TO MICROSOFT:
Hi again *****,

You guys should definitely have received that stuff for my second rebate by
now. Is there a fax number I can resubmit my copies to get this rebate in
process? Or can you submit it with the attached copies of everything?

The attachment in this email includes: A copy of the rebate form, A copy of
the box top, A copy of the unique receipt from Staples, A copy of the dated
envelope the rebate was mailed in on January 14, 2008.

I know I submitted everything necessary and sent it to the right place (see
copy of dated envelope) so I don't really understand why it's not in your
system yet.

Let me know what I need do to get this rebate processed.

Thanks a lot, ******

MICROSOFT RESPONSE:

Hello *******,

Thank you for your e-mail.

Without tracking information, we would be unable to confirm that the materials in question were successfully received, until they were individually processed. Unfortunately, we are unable to use copies of the required proofs of purchase by fax or mail in the event that the originals are lost in transit.

Thank you for contacting Microsoft.

ME TO MICROSOFT (WAITING FOR RESPONSE):
Hi again *****,

Are you saying that if that you don't receive the original that I'm out of
luck?? If that's the case please escalate this to a supervisor. I filled out
everything correctly and to the letter and submitted the required proofs of
purchase. The rebate form doesn't require that the proofs of purchase be
sent with tracking information or even suggest using it. I've never had a
piece of mail get lost by the USPS and my other proofs of purchase for my
first rebate made it your location without any problem.

Also, you can compare my two rebates and see that the time of purchase,
transactions number, etc are all different so it's obviously not fraudulent.

Please have a supervisor give me a call or email me.
Thank you, ****
END OF EMAILS

Rebates are always such a hassle and I'm pretty freakin sure my proofs of purchase made it to them just fine and they probably lost it or skipped over it or something. I WILL GET MY REBATE/UPGRADE EVENTUALLY!!

I know there was a least one other person in this thread that had this problem. Did anybody have any success at getting your rebates put through with copies??

Wild. just plain wild. So what's the purpose of making copies of the originals if they won't accept them if they get lost in the mail?

That just seems backwards and unsupportive.

UPDATE: They emailed me back and said that they couldn't have a supervisor email me or call me. I would have to call them and ask for a supervisor---so i did and the guy says he'll be looking into in and call me back on Monday...we'll see.

Geez, they've pushed my order back to 3/17. Has anyone received the Media Edition yet?

I have NOT received 2008 Media Edition

Geez, they've pushed my order back to 3/17. Has anyone received the Media Edition yet?

I called 1-888-285-6247 on 2/15/08 and was told my expected ship date is 2/18/08. My last e-mail from Microsoft said the same thing. The e-mail was dated 1/24/08. On 1/24/08 I tried to work some executive customer service magic by asking if I could have my shipment expedited. Microsoft's response was:

"I received a response from the Program Manager who runs this program. She informed me that the SKU for this offer is currently undergoing the manufacturing process and is scheduled to arrive at our vendor’s warehouse during the second week of February. Unfortunately, there is no way to expedite this process.

At this point I will proceed to close this case. If you have any questions about this final response, or if you require further assistance with this issue, please "reply all" to this email.

Thank you,

Office 2008 promotion - has anybody received?

hi all,

i got an email from microsoft on friday 8th of november but i have yet

to receive the package. my understand is that although the uk customers

posted the paperwork to germany, the software will be posted from

uk !!! 9 days !!!!

My media edition has been pushed back 3 times now from 1/14 to 3/17. I am pretty ticked about. If they had just left it at 6-8 weeks after initial release that would have been ok, but by sending out the email they got my hopes up. I am calling tomorrow to complain. I am sure it won't do anything though. The least they could do is pay my shipping.

My media edition got pushed back to 3/10.

As long as that's the last delay, I don't really mind. I was more worried about them "losing" the proof of purchase.

Microsoft WTF?!

Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd contribute to this thread. Maybe someone could hep answer a question?

Anyway, I purchased the upgrade on 2008-01-14 and sent off all the relevant details pronto. After hitting off a few replies back to Microsoft (due to their strangely worded emails) I checked my statement early last week and noticed I was charged £15 on 2008-02-08.

Subsequent emails (asking why I'd been charged so far in advance) have so far gone unanswered.

Since I notice a few people have seen deliveries lately I'm hopefully gonna get mine this coming week. But since it's coming from Germany (I'm in the UK), and they use a no frills postal method, I have no way of tracking it.

Anyway my question is, should Microsoft have charged me for this already? I've paid for software I can't use!

Well, the microsoft supervisor called me back today (I emailed them again yesterday saying that I didn't get a call back as promised)...he said that they now HAVE received my proofs of purchase and my order will go out with the next shipment....kinda weird how I had to make a big stink about it before they located my proofs of purchase...i hate rebates...but at least I'm getting both of them.

Yes.

As with pretty much anything you order online, they charge you just as the product is being shipped.

(Otherwise your payment method could be declined after they'd sent you the item).

Mine got posted on the 8th February (I didn't send the stuff to them until January).

Still no email but my credit card was charged $7.57 last Tuesday (2/12/08) so it looks like it will just show up any time now...

I finally got my H&S copy yesterday. Installed on the Intel iMac and runs well. Will install on the G4 iBook tonight. I'm keeping my Office 2004 installed on both machines, just in case...:)

ordered mine in Dec. Estimated date is 3/10 for Media edition. I could have walked to Microsoft and back by now.

I am really getting annoyed at the delay for the non-Home/student version. If I didn't need Exchange support I'd have this evil piece of software by now! :(

Just to update on this, mine came today with Royal Mail (just through the letterbox).

It's the full boxed product as well, I was expecting a cheap brown box or something.

So it looks like about 2 weeks from shipping for UK orders.

Time to start complaining

Well, my expected ship date came and went with no Office 2008 Media Edition. Calling Microsoft is useless - they only say that "it could go out at any time", yet they cannot tell me if they have any in stock to ship out.

I filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General for not delivering product. I doubt they'll do anything, but it's a start.

Good for you! If MSFT doesn't start making good on this offer in the next few weeks, they could be heading for a class-action lawsuit.

it's here !!!

although it was posted two weeks ago, it arrived today early morning.

so far i have gone through word only. much better than the word in

mac office 2004. it runs smoothly on a 2GHZ & 2G RAM mac book and

mac mini. the real test will come with excel and how fast it can reproduce

10000 random variables. if it comes in less than 1 sec then it totally rocks !

For those of you reporting that you've received your software, would you mind specifying whether you requested the Media Edition or the Home/Student Edition?

Yeah, I requested Media Edition and my ship date is in March...

When Windows Vista was being released, Microsoft ran a similar promotion and it took 6 months for my Vista upgrade to arrive (after a lot of chasing) so good luck guys
