I was a beta tester for OFM 2011 and I would beg to differ. It is great and it is amazing... Microsoft has embraced the Mac with this product.

It seems the negativity surrounding this release appears to be nit picks. This looks like a solid upgrade and I can't wait to purchase it.

I might have missed that so apologies in advance, but let me just ask on how many machines can you install this? And is there any kind of the usual ms verification/authentication/genuine ms ********* advantage and the like?

I am asking this because by the looks of it when I get the new air I ll have about 4 macs and if these guys make buy extra copies for that...well I am not going to be a happy camper exactly...

You're not gonna be a "happy camper." Only 1 computer per copy. The copy will be "tied" to only that computer. They've gone to the key system like with Windoze.

Yes I read it and found him to be bit picking on certain items. From many Beta users I've heard really good things about it. I'm also going from version 2004.

I have 2004 too. And based on his review at 2004 I will stay. His reviews, etc. are usually right on. He has no axe to grind and he's not in MS's pocket like so many others. His points are all valid and far from nit-picking IMHO.

What's the point of the academic version where there is "home and office" other than just ms being royal pita and having us google the difference?

The academic version includes outlook while the home and student does not. It's also cheaper. It's also much cheaper than home and business. There is no "home and office" version.

You can get a multi-computer license. Plus even the most expensive version is nowhere near the cost of the previous ($400+).

Also I would like to propose a global ban on both "M$" and "Windoze" because they are old, busted and make you sound like a 4th grader.

Where? Post link.......

I'd like to propose a ban on using "Bold" lettering. That's what my old Grandpa uses when he gets mad! Are you a Grandpa too?

I've lost my **** mind

Seems that way..........

Is it available in Microsoft Tech Net plus subscription yet?

Nope, and I cannot see when that will change. Technet is Microsoft's repository for evaluating Windows products.

Office 2008 was never hosted there and the only Mac program I see is Virtual PC. Microsoft has no interest in encouraging people towards OS X.

Office 2011 went RTM a while back. That is the time Microsoft's software gets hosted on technet and MSDN replacing any open betas. If it isn't there yet, it's not suddenly going to pitch up now.

Wait a minute...Microsoft doesn't charge $500 for Word, for one computer, anymore?

Where have I been? (Using iWork for 5 years, thats where)

This point has been glossed over a bit, but when I saw the new pricing, I was stunned. Microsoft has either finally figured out that it's better to sell your software for $150 to a lot of people who will pay, rather than for $500 to only a few people who would pay up (and everyone else pirates it). Either that, or they are running scared because they know that competing products (OpenOffice, iWork, etc.) are rapidly gaining foothold.

Personally, I'm waiting for the HUP version too ;)

It appeared on MSDN today for me :)

It is on technet for me as well as communicator. Oddly enough I can't get a key for it though.

Now if I could only buy it through my work... They are only showing the '08 version for mac on the Home use buying program site.

It is available in my TechNet Subscription. This is only the second Mac application I've seen posted to TechNet (RDP is the other).

I believe it's two installs per license; atleast thats what my program admin is telling me.

It probably does that geeky network serial check as well, to make sure no one else is using it.
