If we get MMS before we get ***** copy/paste I'm going to blow a gasket.

the word phone makes for 5 out of 6 letters in the word iPhone. and the iPhone is currently the ONLY camera phone in the market (as far as I know) that does not support MMS. i think that's pretty shameful and, most importantly, a lot more crucial than copy & paste.

things like that can fly here in the US but the European market already rejected the whole notion of a phone that looks pretty but can't do what all other phones could for a LONG time.

Those 5 phones have not been iPhones, if you havent noticed AT&T treats the iPhone a little differently than every other phone

AT&T doesnt treat the iphone any differently than its regular smartphones. They actually treated the iPhone different in the 1st gen. The 3g has the same pricing plans as all of AT&T other smartphones

I still don't understand why Apple just can't include this service. It's ridiculous. It pisses me off that Apple is taking so long to add this functionality to the iPhone.

I agree.

The disparity of "OMGWTF AT&T will charge me extra for MMS!!!1!1" is not valid. MMS is included with every one of AT&T's messaging plans and has been since 2006, even with the iPhone despite the fact the iPhone doesn't natively support MMS.

Actually, MMS is blocked on every AT&T iPhone account so it is not included, jailbreak it and try SwirlyMMS and see what happens

i would very much like to be a fly on the wall when the iPhone product managers sat down to discuss why they would not include MMS as one of the core features of the phone.

there is absolutely no way they would not include it because it's technologically difficult to accomplish. if a joe schmoe can code it in his parents' basement in a day or two, i'm sure a couple of apple engineers could knock it out in a week, complete with QA and testing.

makes me wonder what else they considered to not include just because. address book? keypad?

remember when iPhone 3G was announced and Jobs did a whole spiel on how 3G is faster than EDGE? i was in the audience and can tell you, 20 out of 5,000 people barely granted him a golf clap. that's because everyone was thinking in unison; DUH! that's what we've been trying to tell you since day one!!

i fear when MMS finally arrives to the iPhone, we'll see another media event just about that and a new series of ads that will start with "Say you want to send a picture message to your parents..." which will be met with much the same reaction as the addition of 3G.

You know the thing is, I'm tottally fine with emailing... however.. what the problem is 95% of my friends/co-workers don't have smart phones.. And I'm not going to inconvenience them by saying hey resend this picture to my email... What at&t should do is allow MMS to be forwarded to our email... I mean I can't even download pictures off their site... its all flash.. What crap.

Why would AT&T allow the use of this app when right now they BLOCK SwirlyMMS? It makes no sense. Why are Apple and AT&T so against MMS? It boggles my mind.

This will never happen in the US.

For fricks sake! Get the stupid MMS on the frickin phone. I want MMS and have been vocal about it, but even now, I am getting annoyed by people (myself included) begging for MMS. I just can't take it anymore. :D

Even I want to complain about something new, this missing MMS thing has gone too far beyond ridiculous. I'll be happy when the day comes when I can start complaining about no cut and paste only.

bah. i have maybe used MMS once in my life.. and i've had cell phones for 10 years now. I am more than happy using email, posting to flickr, facebook, etc.

Same here, I've never found a good use for MMS and it's even more pointless now we have rich email on the go.

I couldn't agree more, not to even mention that MMS costs extra whereas rich e-mail is included in the flat rate data plan.

woopty-doo

"the brand is displayed on the user's phone"

Cellphone companies and their mulit-tiered, multi-fee rate plans are already the most obnoxious service I grudgingly pay for. Re-introducing one of the most obnoxious features of cell phones is hardly a step forward in this customer's eyes.

MMS and copy paste are the ONLY 2 things missing ....bring it on

and video recording which even my 5 year old phone can do

These, and a faster network and carrier level insurance is all that I am waiting for.

Oh, and a less expensive phone bill since I don't like paying $60-$80 extra for stuff I already have.

Now that I've had it with the iPhone and sold it to get a Blackberry Storm, this comes along :[

I'm sad.

Don't be sad, at least you have a stronger, and real smartphone that can actually create Office documents.

Same here, I've never found a good use for MMS and it's even more pointless now we have rich email on the go.

I can agree, but not everyone has an expensive smartphone. OR, not everyone with a smartphone uses all of their emailing/internet features.... OR, not everyone has an iPhone.
