hey guys! I’m newbie and i happy to be here. I’m from Kazakhstan and i work for international IT-company. 1 month ago i was bought my first Iphone 15 Pro Max, and that is incredible device ( Apple really doing a good stuff) and i want to participate and educate that ecosystem, some new feauters. Thanks developers for working and supporting Apple community, now i’m officially joined to this dream team 🙂

New to your forum.
I was actually researching a company called Swan Technologies back in the 80’s and ran across a series of posts here of some old timers who actually were aware of it. A lot of fun going down memory lane. My background goes back to the early 80s.
My first computer was a Tandy Radio Shack TRS—80, 16k Color Computer. Cassette recorder for storage. Had to connect it to a TV for a monitor. I think it was about 1982 or 83. It’s been awhile. Later moved up to a Commodore 64, Commodore 64+, Commodore 128 and eventually an XT. Moved up the MS world through Intel 286, 386, 486, Windows, NT, 95…
As of two years ago I switched over to Apple M1 iMac, MacBook Pro, 6th Gen 12.9 iPad Pro. and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
It’s been a long journey, but a fun trip down memory lane.

Hi all! I’m a retired musician and Apple fanboy. I currently use a 2021 16” MacBook Pro with Pro chip & 16 GB RAM and my project: a mid-2010 MacPro 5,1 running OpenCore Legacy Patcher 2.2 and Sequoia. It runs great except for the 27” Cinema Display built-in Camera. It works perfectly with FaceTime but not with Discord and Zoom. In System Settings I get errors. I attached them here.

Hello! Thank you for letting me in. My name is Lee Jackson, and I'm a composer from Garland, Texas. My best-known work dates back to the 90s, and includes soundtracks to the videogames "Rise of the Triad," "Duke Nukem 3D," Stargimmer," and "Shadow Warrior." I also wrote "Grabbag," the theme song to the game, "Duke Nukem 3D."
I just laid down four large and made the leap back to what PC users would call "The Dark Side" last night when I ordered a brand new M4 Pro MacBook Pro, plus accessories and a 3-year subscription to Apple Care+. The MacBook Pro has a 1TB SSD, 48GB of RAM, and a nano-texture display. I plan to add an external TB5 SSD to the system, starting with 4TB.
I used the phrase "the leap back" in the above paragraph because I have some experience with an Apple II+ in the Computer Lab at my High School in the late 1970s-early 1980s. The systems had floppy disk drives - single-sided 160KB drives - and they even had (gasp!) color screens.
Right now, I'm here looking for info on the external TB5 SSDs. I'm on the cusp of buying either an OWC Envoy Ultra or an Acasis 80Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure + a Samsung 990 Pro NVMe stick. It's my last decision before putting together my "Jabberwock" of a system, which will be used for writing and creating music. I'll ask the appropriate questions in the proper forums, of course, but I hope I'll find some of you there so we can talk.

Back to Mac (mini M4 pro 24/512) after a 30 year hiatus in Windowsworld. Sequoia is a bit more complex than System 7, but the knowledgeable folks here have been very helpful.

Just a quick update to say the Dell S2725DS monitor that I thought would be OK with the mini has been returned and replaced today with an Apple Studio Display.
The difference between monitors, as I'm sure most everyone here already knows, is pretty much night and day. I'm glad that I gave the Dell a chance and maybe others would be OK with it for various valid reasons, or use other well known monitors and are happy with them. I didn't want to keep going down that path, and opted for the sure thing.
It certainly helped that the ASD was on sale, if not I even still may have tried to swing and miss with lesser monitors. The Studio Display knocks out of the park from the get go, and of course just feels so right staying within the brand.
