Hey folks, I’ve been an Android user since my teens and only started considering an iPhone this year because of the overall photo quality (mainly the telephoto lens) in a compact device (not the Max/Ultra versions). I’ll be getting an iPhone 17 Pro next month here in the EU.

Just signed up today, I am a new owner of a MacBook Air 15 and learning the ropes; slowly buy learning. I am older and have to redo things many times before I remember them. Been watching videos and such and learning some very helpful tips and tricks. Looking to find out what programs are not good for MAC and thinking getting an easy program play around with my fishing pictures. I do have an iPhone and iPad vs9. Have a great day ya'll.

Hey y'all! I watched the Apple event today, and I'm intrigued. After using androids all my life, Apple has finally given me a reason to take a peek over the fence. I currently carry 2 android flagships, so I'm going to add the iPhone 17 to the crew. I believe it's a great device for a 1st time Apple user. I know I'm in for a steep learning curve, but I'm looking forward to it. Learning is life!

Hey man! Great to see you here! It reminds me of the series of Linus Tech Tips where he challenges iPhone users to try Android and vice versa (all at different times) and as a long time iPhone user I can say that the gripes people had, were just that they didn’t know how to set up whatever it was they wanted.

I say all that to say, for 99.99999% of whatever you are trying to make happen on an iPhone, it probably can.

MacRumors and the wider Apple community are super helpful and supportive, also, how can so many people be such huge fans and all be wrong? People love Macs and Apple stuff for a reason

Afternoon all, after lurking here for far too long, I finally threw my hat in 'The Ring'. Long time OSX user here (anyone else miss big cat names?). Looking forward to finally contributing!

Definitely more interesting than the current. MacOS Wing Chun has tickled me this morning :D

Hi! I'm a long, long time lurker and for some reason decided to join the forums recently. Some fresh meat for the MR sharks I suppose...

I recently picked up a 11" M4 iPad Pro earlier this year and am in disbelief that I get to upgrade my 12PM next week to an orange Pro Max. I'll make sure to give my fullest impressions. Let's do this!

That sounds like an amazing iPad, I had been looking at the M2s a couple years ago, but still haven't been able to justify to myself the upgrade from my 5-ish year old iPad, it still runs great. What are your favorite things to do with it currently? Have you played around with Procreate? I'm not much of an artist, but Procreate is so great, and has replaced desktop photo editing for me. Much easier to Airdrop, Apple Pencil, Procreate, bingo bang boom, done. I love it.

is the "orange Pro Max" an autocorrect fail for iPhone? lol I didn't know Apple made Oranges
jokes aside, welcome in, I'm new too and love it!

Thank you! I believe that to be true and I'm here for it! Best believe I'm bingeing all iPhone for dummies type videos and have joined forums because I KNOW all the Apple people can't be wrong, lol. People usually stick to a particular brand because it's what they know. I'm stepping outside of my box (android) for the 1st time since owning a cell phone...I'm 48. o_O

My mom just got her first iPhone - switch from android too and she loves it! So it’s never too late

This will be a bit of a test... Another of these threads started with good intentions... but was soon taken over by regulars.

if you just joined MacRumors, reply and introduce yourself.

This is only for new Macrumors users... only users who registered within two months of the current date may reply...

All other users posts will be deleted. (moderators, please enforce this). This will be for myself included... only comments by truely "new" users will be allowed in this thread.

Discuss away...

(this could fail miserably if no one replies :) )

Hi I'm Kevin and have been using my iPad, iPhone and watch for a long time. Always interested in tips.

Hi, I'm Alan from the UK. I've had iPads for a few years now. Got an Samsung tablet because IpadOS wouldn't allow me to display portraid apps as landscape. Just upgraded to IpadOS 26 and I really like the multitasking stuff which, guess what, allows me to do just that - so back to Apple.

My phones have always been Android - and will probably stay that way.

Cheers

Alan
