While it's hard for me to visualize Street Fighter in anything other than 2D, I'd have a blast with Ryu... I already yell "Shoryuken!" whenever I uppercut someone with Luigi 
Just cause they have arm canons doesn't mean they are similar... Ok maybe they are, but it doesn't mean they'll play the same way. Look at Mario, Luigi, and Wario, all completely different. Megaman is probably my most wanted 3rd party character to come in.
My vote goes to Megaman X, or Zero from the GBA series. Or protoman, original megaman... they're all good. Except the network ones... but I wouldn't mind that either.

Have you seen SF 3-D (forgot the real name) it was horrid. Anyways, I don't think they'll go with a SF characters since they are from a fighter, the cool thing about the smash series is that everyone is from a non-fighting game. Taken out of their element for a "Brawl". Ken and Ryu would be eh... not that I'm not a fan (new SFIV trailer looks amazing), but I'd much rather have non-fighting game characters in it. If they put someone in from Mortal Kombat in there, I'm going to have to kick someone's balls.
Zero would by far be the most fun to play; the arm cannon is a secondary weapon that most players almost never use, as his primary form of attack is a beam sword. He'd be kind of like Marth, with some ranged attacks on the side and elemental special sword moves. However, Zero is also the least well-known character (the best-known being the original, and second-best-known being X).
My vote would go to Zero. If not Zero, then X.

just a question, but are there brawl leagues forming soon? i would like to get set for this by april (when i think this game is coming out).

If you're lookn' for a league this is probably where you will find it. And the release date is set to be Feb 10th.
They really need to get a ranked system into online. I would pay to get ranked gameplay in Smash
I can imagine so, like Zelda/Shiek you probably hold a button whilst the game loads up.
I was thinking that it would be cool if they replaced kid Link with cel-shaded link. The graphical difference might be jarring, but it just seems appropriate.
