I'm totally digging Ike's up and B move. Maybe with this extra time they'll add ranking and leaderboards to online Brawl. Perhaps even online tournaments?

Leaderboards could be cool. I'd imagine they'll be in there since Strikers has them.

I hope Nintendo let you upload videos too, I was pleasantly surprised when Tony Hawk American Skateland on the DS. Could be useful for learning off pros.

This is so unreal.

A level editor where you can submit levels.

P**s off Nintendo you have just taken away my free time.

So... Submit is this new button that was being kept secret. No surprise then that we'll be able to submit screenshots and movies too then?

WTF is with this game. Why is it so perfect? Why is it hitting every note?

Makes me really appreciate the delay. I mean, I was disappointed it was pushed into 2008 (heck, it was supposed to be a launch title!) but if it was delayed for stuff like this, it will all be worth it. So, so worth it.

because it is a huge behemoth of features ;)

seriously we are at 23 characters announced already and knowing that there will be some unlockables too which means we will be looking at a massive cast alone
christ at 23 confirmed ones we're talking alread about an hour to play with every character once

8 players Nintendo. That's all I need now ;)

I'm also hoping this level download feature works over Wii Connect 24 and without the blue light or message alert. It'd just make the whole experience so smooth.

A little part of me wants mini games too, non-fighting based ones. Sorta like them Pokemon Coliseum games. Something different to do during marathon plays. Just steal and beef up a few Warioware games ;)

Omfg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I so welcome the delay. Let's just hope it's just this delay though and not another one. ;)
And I couldn't tell but maybe custom music?

I sure hope we can opt to save our custom stages we get from other people. I would hate to just have the MR stage for 24 hrs. ;)

From what I gather-

-Maps made by you and friends (either on Wii Friends or the games friend codes) will last forever and can be saved to the SD card for mega backup.
-Maps downloaded from the daily download thing will only last 24 hours.

Personally I'm hoping for an iTunes like thing where you can download and rate a level, and they keep a list of highest rated levels. Maybe.

I think it says you can only use music you've 'unlocked.' Currently I rate this feature a 9... if they let us use mp3s from our SD cards, I will then rate the feature a 15 :D

Alright, only a few features until ultimate perfection:
- return of all melee characters
- unlimited match recording to SD card, and now
- custom mp3 music for stage creation

I mean, they've gone this far, they might as well go all the way.

The screen would be too crowded. It would be a mess to try and fight with 8 characters on the screen at once.

I'm trying to keep my excitement about this game moderated. I think that many of you guys are setting yourselves up for some guaranteed disappointment with the amount of hype you're feeling. This is clearly going to be a good game...so let's all just expect a good game and leave it at that.

Do you think there's a possibility that they're adding all these features because they don't have that many characters...you know, kind of as a way to compensate for a lack of characters? Or do you think the designers have a green light to pack in as many features/online components as they can to truly demonstrate the kind of things that developers can be do with Wii games?

I have a seriously hard time believing there's not a lot of characters. We've only had 12 veterans revealed, out of the 25 original characters...there's gotta be more than that, and I really, really doubt they're going to reveal ALL of the hidden characters on the Dojo.

There's gotta be at least 30 with the clones removed, and even that number sounds a little small.

Shuuuuuuun! :D
This is worth the Wii purchase price alone. I would pay a monthly subscription fee to play this game. :)

As I said earlier in this thread - tag matches.

Melee was my fave game last gen. I still play it today, single or multi. I don't care the whole game is freakin awesome.
So if you take that, add more characters, better soundtrack (I didn't know that was even possible) and everything else announced. There's no way it can fail. It's formulaic yes. But it's a fighting game and not *insert hyped FPS here* so it's allowed.

No, they're doing it because Melee was the most popular Cube game. People loved it so they're making it the best game they possibly can.

I have never abdicated buying a system for one game (cept when I got an Xbox for Halo, my library had 4 games in the end). But I really would buy a Wii for this even if I wouldn't play any other game.

melee had 25 characters including unlockables

currently announced playable for brawl are 23

What's everyone's opinion on the ability to add custom music to the game, like bobber mentioned? I, for one, would prefer to only have the in-game music..or downloadable game music for Smash. Being that these are all videogame characters in videogame based stages, it just doesn't seem right to have non-videogame music. It wouldn't fit and may even dilute the experience. I can understand custom music in a racing game, a sports game or a shooter...but in a game that is all about the nostalgia of videogames...it just wouldn't work.

What are your guy's take on this?

I don't like that idea. the music in these games has always been perfect, I don't know why you'd want to use Atomic Kitten or whatever it is you listen to ;)
