And no, I doubt that. He said that assist trophies have two different moves. I assume that simply means that, unlike the Pokemon, assist trophies will do more than just do one attack and disappear. They might do more than one, or they might do a random attack, so you never know what to expect.
I doubt two different moves is enough to make a playable character off of.

I'll feel alot better if/when they say that all characters from Melee are returning.
I'm still worried that the player count is going to be smaller than Melee (or not as large as we hoped)...prove me wrong, Nintendo.
Huh... We're already at 25 characters in Brawl. King DeDeDe was the 24th and Falcon has yet to be announced (or maybe a different F-Zero racer - there are already F-Zero trophies in the game).
As Praxis said earlier; add in the potential characters like Luigi, Falcon, Falco, Ganondorf. Then the clones.
Conservatively I think we're looking at 35-40 now.

So, do you think that they're announcing all of the main characters and leaving the "clones" as a surprise? What if they don't include any clones in Brawl?

But they won't be. Pikachu, Pichu, Jigglypuff, Pokemon Trainer, AND Mewtwo? I suspect Pichu will go at the very least, possibly Jigglypuff and Mewtwo too but I hope not. I like both of those characters.
And Ness is very likely to not be returning. And I really hope to see Doctor Mario gone or as a costume. And Young Link could be replaced with WW Link or MM Link.
I think some of the characters are too important to go. Losing Captain Falcon means we have no F-Zero representation; that can't happen. And Ganondorf we're all pretty sure is coming. IIRC I don't remember the whole quote but basically the Twilight Princess team submitted art for Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf for Smash Bros...they've only announced two of them.
If they don't then it doesn't matter. We've got 24 characters announced that aren't clones. A step up from the 25 in Melee that included clones.
Clones are just the icing, their subtle differences are quite important for some players.
1) Todays updates. 3 taunts per character? Absolutely awesome!
2) I was hit with a sudden idea. We've all discussed "what if Megaman was in Smash Bros?" then started arguing about which MegaMan...but what if they took the original MegaMan and made him like Kirby? Remember, the original MegaMan's ability was to copy the attacks of opponents. Imagine MegaMan copying the forward-B move of any opponent he chooses to.

My guess then that he would only gain an opponent's ability after taking them out.
I suppose; but then, usually, Kirby's eating of his enemies kills them, and he can only eat minibosses after killing them, but it doesn't work like that in Smash Bros. They could give MegaMan some kind of grapple or something that steals powers.
But then again, I love the idea of stealing the power of anyone you kill. Though that gives you a big disadvantage on the first round.
If he does steal powers, then he could "grapple"(if that is what it is) Bowser and start breathing fire? Or Grapple Fox and get a lazer gun?
Maybe just as a kind of Assist Trophy, nothing more.
Perhaps she would have a bunch of star bits to rain down from the sky and everyone would get a little hurt from them.
The updates are getting boring now, I'm guessing the release date is a way off
Maybe they were previously just making updates at a really fast pace....because the game was supposed to be released in less than a month from now. However, since the game was delayed, they don't have enough stuff left to do the big updates. Maybe they already announced all of the major features...heck, maybe they even already announced all of the characters!
We might already know pretty much everyting that there is to know about the game...only minor stuff left like specific assist trophies and menu options, etc.. Is this the first sign that Brawl is beginning to fade away? 
so brawl isn't going to be a big deal in february? if so, it's time to start warming up the batting cages...
