I wouldn't be surprised if the website stopped updating over the holidays, then picked back up in January.

As for recent updates, there have always been filler posts. I like the new handicap system; I never used it previously, but now I will in Brawl.

I use the handicap a lot, that way I don't just pwn my sister and it actually makes fights a challenge. I was never keen on the way Melee handled it. Sure it's good to have attack strength and defense lowered, but it got a silly at times. I'd do giant attacks and lengthy combos and do about 20% damage. Smashes were impossible unless they were at 300% (on a lv1 versus lv7 handicap).
This new system sounds better.

I never used the handicaps because the numbers were so abstract. How am I supposed to know what difference a lv5 handicap will make vs a lv7? So I just never messed with it and told my friends "see if you can kill me once before I kill you three times" or something like that (depending on their skill level).

I like the new one much better.

Well today's update was quite good! Watching games over wifi and betting on a winner? I used to spectate the pros in CS:S and HL2:D when I was just starting out.
Like the sound of the menu layout too, it's like they're building a menu for the casuals. And rightly so with the Wii's marketing.

I hope you can specifically spectate people on your Friends list as well. Not a big deal if you can't but it would be useful.

Thanks, I think that you will start using that on other people(when I get a little better and can beat you) :)

Hooray! 2 nice updates in a row. I like the sound of the Smartbombs, and colour changes! With 6 colours! They probably realised people like to play with different colours and not just use them for separating who's who (ie, everyone the same character but different colour which is probably why they limited it to 4).

Yeti DK :D

The smart bombs were yesterdays update...for the US site.

Yeah, Jimmi, come on...you're so behind things when it comes to Smash. ;)

Does anyone know if the alternate costume colors are in lieu of entire alternate costumes? The blue tunic for link would be cool...but not as cool as the oni suit, and magic armor...among other things that Link has worn in the various games.

I never said they were on the same day :p it's just been so drab recently with final smash announcements.

I want to see them start revealing Kirby forms! What does Kirby look like when he swallows Sonic? Snake?

Saki Amamiya appears from Sin & Punishment: Successor to the Earth!

Yay, we get a Treasure character after all! If only Saki were playable...

One wonders if any other characters from Treasure franchises are on the way.

Nice update today on the controls. I don't go to friends house much but that's still nice to have.

I am curious if in the last days before it's released in Japan, if there'll be a "classic land" or "mode" that you can unlock in Adventure Mode that will allow you to unlock the classic "other" characters, like Ness, Dr. Mario etc etc.

Leaving all those people out from a game that seems to have nearly everything would seem like a big huge hole.

What I don't like about that is controls are saved a profile. I'll probably stick with the GC controller, but it'd be nice if I could change my setup quickly.

I'm guessing profiles will be tied to Mii's too. Seems to be what Nintendo's own games are doing now and would make stat tracking easier.

It's not so good around here when it comes to spoilers, so you're best having a MR holiday

this is my last post in this thread for a while, so i'm going to make a bold prediction.

there will be another delay announced by january 6th, pushing the us release date to march 31st, just in time for opening day. just a hunch with nintendo and their delays.
