Does your kind of guy put actual effort into avoid reading the threads?

I scanned through it, looking for someone saying the same thing. So I must have missed one. Its a 4 page thread, gimme a break.

And I'm not your guy, buddy.

Well i think its a good alternative, granted I havent reread this individual thread so I'm not sure what the downsides of that are.

But if your willing to carry around two or three extra batteries, why not a batter pack instead?

LOL, when did I say you were MY guy? Man, I guess you actually DO put effort into NOT reading things.

I have mentioned some of the problems beginning with post 35.

Edit: The one Chromerium linked to weighs 4.4 lbs and has 200Wh where the inbuilt battery has 95 Wh. 4.4 lbs. (it will make sense why I mention this when you have read from post 35 onwards.).

ive got to be honest mate, you're coming across as a bit of an arrogant cock.

you don't need to mention in every post that you have a leaf back, and you definitely dont need to insult every member as if there lower than you.

I agree the Pro's are becoming more consumer and less "Pro", but there not forcing you to stay loyal, just change brand?

Your so right with EVERYTHING you said!

Subtle southpark reference. I guess, for you, one needs to put a smiley after every single passing joke just so you don't get offended. You do seem to be overly defensive.

There are batteries with larger capacities on that site. The 444Wh model would probably cover a day's shooting pretty easily, but weighs 9lbs.

As long as the internal battery is fully charged to begin with, you won't be charging the internal with the external, and one would expect to get the full use out of both without the losses you talk about here.

Lets say you get the advertised 8 hours from the 95Wh battery. Whats that, something like 45 hours, of 'advertised' battery life using the 444Wh external battery?

If you assume half the life goes up in smoke from temperature or inefficiencies, or because the OP hammers the HD with his constant shooting, thats still 22 hours or so.

I read post #35, but i cant seem to find a problem with ^this post. How much weight are all the extra batteries going to weigh? I'd think 9lbs is actually great for the battery life your getting (im talking the 22 there).

".....Feel free to insult me or post an angry rant back....."

Ahhh, what good would that do? I mean, to call you a dick would be an insult to real dicks! And besides, you seem to have all the answers and are obviously much more intelligent than my-own-sad-self, so a battle of wits would surely leave me laying in a ditch in a puddle of my own juice! No.....I bow to you, Oh Master!

Sigh …

UPS-weight was far from the only problem I mentioned. I said 35 onwards.

And 4.4 pounds for what amounts to two of the internal batteries are certainly not "great" by any shot.

It shouldn't be necessary to have to repost every goddamn post because you guys can't be bothered to read the damn thread. Seriously, how idiotic is that?

What is your point? Do you have one other than, "External battery packs won't work, you'd know that if you did ANY research, so ****".

WTF are you getting so riled up about?

Didnt the OP say his batteries last like 2.5-4 hours? How is 9lbs for 22 hours (after factoring all the loss you talked about) not decent?

I think he's just desperately trying not to 'lose' the conversation, somehow.

Sad.

Now we dont need to jump to something like that, but I'd appreciate it if he'd just calm down. No ones being hostile towards him so I dont see why hes so mad.

@Tosser

lol, and I was worried about sending this thread off-topic, looks like nobody even read our little debate about external batteries.

I agree that its a bummer that Apple went this way, although I can understand why they did it. At the same time, what did Photographers do up until 10 years ago? Portable dark room?? I think spooky made a good point, we all act really spoiled, technologically speaking.

he's getting riled up because nobody read any of the previous discussion about exactly these points in this same thread, only 1 or 2 pages back.

There is no inefficiency to speak of here. As I pointed out, charging lithium batteries is extremely efficient, and regardless, this external pack doesn't charge the internal battery. The only problem is the poor energy density of this external battery that people keep linking to without realizing it's already been linked to earlier in the thread.

I think it would be cool if Apple built their own external battery made out of the same stuff as the internal battery, giving just as good a energy density, and offering some typical apple solution to connecting it in an elegant way.

does somebody know what the weight of the 17"mbp battery is? I think somebody just said it was 4lbs, in which case what I said about poor energy density for the external battery is bunk.

Somehow i really doubt its 4 lbs considering the whole machine is just over 6.

Agreed.

The way the (western) world is heading: I want more faster, better, bigger... I don't have enough, I 'need' more damn it!

Stop complaining buddy; vote with elsewhere with your $, or adapt.

Apologies. I deleted my post. Each to his own, and my angry rant didn't answer your question. As everybody's mother tells them, 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all'.

Best of luck finding a solution to your problem.

Wow, so in amongst my angry rant there was a shining point I made :p

I've been thinking this for a while now. I went from my iPhone to a Sony phone for the evening and complained to no end...it's was one of the more recent phone's and at some point in the night I just stopped and thought, 'Christ! What am I on about? Ther'es great tech in this phone, I'm just spoilt with the iPhone'.

I honestly think it's true of a lot of things. I work as a photography/cinematographer and at every turn now, I try to think 'how would people have done this 90 years ago?'. It's great for learning and understanding, and also helps with the budget (since you're not buying overpriced equipment!).

Just remember, when tech isn't spot on for you, just consider all the other great things it can do.

Also realise that technology doesn't make a photograph (or whatever it may be) better. It's just a means to an end.

The world does not revolve around you....not even close. You are in such a neglectable minority, that its almost a non-issue.

most pro's use a power source, since it is required for things other than taking a a thousands of shots, tethered to a macbook pro.

there are so many solutions to this...like carrying an external power source which can charge your macbook pro via its power adapter.

oh dear another flame war over the non removeable 17" macbook pro battery, im not even going to get involved but i think we need to stop people making threads about this issue already. Steve knows what you want, and you want non removeable batteries.
