And the 13" base MBA just disappeared. ARGH!

Maybe that'll help me rationalize ordered the 13/4/256 instead of the 13/4/128. :)

Sam

Hopefully it comes back in stock just like the 11" base.

I'm having a hard time deciding between the 128 and 256. 128GB is not enough space but I feel like I will flip the MacBook Air as soon as the new MacBook Pros come out.

I know I want the 13" over the 11" but having a hard time rationalizing +$300 for +128G storage. I have a Mac Pro, so the MBA will not be my primary machine - ergo I think I can get along ok with 128G. I installed apps (MSFT Office, iWork, Photoshop Elements and misc. utilities) on my wife's 11/4/128 - and she still has >100G left which is plenty for documents. Her machine is a secondary machine as well.

If I have to, I'll go for the 13/4/256 - but am hoping the 13/4/128 will come back soon.

13inch

Waiting for 13inch/128gb as well. Was deciding between 11inch vs 13 inch, by the time i decided upon 13inch its gone.

i wanted to get 11inch, but after reading various threads on here, decided to get a 13inch one. Better resolution, bigger touch pad etc made my decision easy, now amazon is making it difficult. 13inch/256 is available still.

Looks like Amazon stock has been refreshed. Base 11" is in again.

I purchased an 11" and it said it would come from AJ Computers. It noted they had two left. But it says I won't receive until end August / early September. I went back after the purchase and AJ says one left. So if they had two left or now one left, why such a long delivery quote?

If you ordered it from AJ the discount code should not work. Did you use the code?

That's why I went 128. This is a stopgap machine.

Either you chose to buy it from Amazon, or it made you buy it from Amazon because you used the code.

I think you are correct that they chose the reseller for me. I still hope that one of the two they list in stock was mine and will ship sooner then quoted date.

Well, the actual code is good until September 8, so let's see if availability improves, or keep getting worse. It's down to 10 Apple notebooks right now. It started at 13. I needed a new Kindle, anyway, so I picked up a code.

Or worst case scenario, Amazon pulls the Apple laptops from qualifying later on.

Hopefully if the 13" comes back, it will come back at the sale price of $1235.

Those were from AJ Computers, so you aren't getting one of those.

I just spoke with the local Target customer service desk. As long as you have the receipt and original packaging a Kindle can be returned within 90 days.

I was at Target (california) today and they told me if you open the box then there will be a 15% restocking fee. Do they have different return policy in different states?

peter

You probably won't even make enough to recoup the eBay fees. Craigslist are always trying dicker down the price.

eBay fees work out to 12% if you include the 3% PayPal fee. If you live in a state that is aggressive at collecting sales tax (like New York, Illinois, or California), the eBay route is questionable, since 12% plus the tax percentage is pretty close to the 20% discount (if not more). People in Delaware or New Hampshire where there is no sales tax have a better chance of selling it for more than they paid.

Wow this worked out great. I originally bought the base 11 a week ago but returned it because I wanted the bigger size. And then I find this thread. I bought a code on Ebay for $50 and purchased the base 13 model. So in the end, the difference turned out to be around $28 (well plus the fifty) for the upgrade!

Thanks very much guys. I'm glad I just found this forum.

yeah, just got back from my big fiasco. went to get the kindle at target, I asked about return policy he said 90 days. went got banana's and came back to buy it all, and he said his supervisor said no returns on kindles once they are opened. I walked out and went to walmart... after buying the banana's.

I can't return a Kindle bought at Target? Are you sure? Can I return it to Amazon???

I don't know. It seems overwhelming amount of ppl on here say you can, but maybe it's just the supervisor feeding bad info to discourage returns. I simply went with walmart because I had 3 ppl tell me I can w/in 15 days and I sure as heck will make sure I do, I even was talking about it to a sales guy that was right next to a manager doing something else. I would have expected him to speak up if the sales guys was wrong. Either way, you still come out on top.

I can't believe I'm saying this because normally this would probably be the type of thing I'd consider doing, but doesn't anyone else think buying a Kindle/getting the code/returning the opened Kindle/using the code to be rather unethical? I mean, believe me, I've exercised the liberal return policies of Best Buy/Target/etc in the past, but I try not to abuse and would NEVER return something after having "stolen" (although that word is rather strong) something. Yes, I've purchased laptops and yes I've returned them opened if they did not meet my needs, but to me this is really pushing it since you're essentially taking something for nothing from Amazon, and also forcing a store to take a hit on the opened item that you're returning for no reason.

I bought a Kindle with the intention of getting the code and using it, but I never once considered returning it opened. I have no use for a Kindle so I was either going to give it to my wife or sell it. As it turns out, I decided against the whole thing so I WILL be returning it, albeit still sealed in the box.

Can anyone who's had the KSO for a little while tell me if a new awesome(subjectively) Amazon offer comes after the last one expires?

There aren't deals like this time after time. There are some good ones like some people mentioned, like the 20% off HDTV's, but it's not like it's one after the other.
