I spent about 30-40 minutes on Amazon live chat this morning trying to get the promo code applied to the new 11" 128/4 Macbook Air.
I only spoke to 1 CSR. The following things happened during our discussion.
1. She looked into everything (took about 5 minutes). She found the model number I wanted and she pulled up the promo code that was sent to me.
2. She sent me a link for the "approved" computers (which didn't have the MBA) and told me to select a computer from the list. I clicked the link and told her that the computer I wanted wasn't on the list. She told me again to select a computer from the list.
3. I began asking her if the list was modified from this weekend when I received the code. I had to ask her 2 or 3 times if the list of approved computers was revised from the time I received the code on Sunday. She dodged the question a couple of times and told me to select a computer from the list.
4. I told her it wasn't right that Amazon revised the list of approved computers AFTER sending me a link of approved computers containing the Macbook Air I wished to purchase. I told her all I wanted to do was spend $1,000 on a computer according to the deal that Amazon sent me.
5. She paused for a couple of minutes and replied that Amazon is allowed to revise promotions whenever they wished, but she would apply the 20% discount manually!
6. I bought the computer and sent her the Order Number. Within minutes, the 20% discount was applied.
I'm not sure if I was fortunate or if I just asked the appropriate questions. Either way I thought some of you might like to know my story.
To make it all a lot better, I bought a Time Capsule (1 to 2 months delivery time frame) with my MBA (1 month delivery time frame). I contacted Amazon via Live Chat a few hours after my purchase and requested that the items be separated from one another and made into 2 orders. The CSR separated the items and upgraded my shipping, for free! My Macbook Air now is schedule to arrive next week instead of September 15th!
Good luck!
