Final answer to me through online chat with Customer Service was "no, not possible, sorry". I have sent an email to Kindle Customer Support about it. Seems odd that it can be extended to some and not others. Plus, as noted by techlover828, it is counterinuitive that those people who pay full price for Kindles cannot take advantage of offers given to people who spent less on their Kindles. Not that it's about who spends more, but I think people can see how that's a little backwards; spend more with us = no deals / spend less with us = great deals.

I'll see if they get back to me on this and if anything changes.

In the bigger picture, maybe in a software update for the Kindle people who paid full price will have the option to receive/see the offers and the option to turn them off. I can understand the subsidized Kindle SO having to have the offers visible but the other Kindles should be able to opt in/out as desired. IMO.

I think it's because they want you to get the one with the ads. The more people who have the ads the more they can advertisers.

You're too late. This sale started at midnight last night. I ordered mine at 5:30 AM this morning. Got the tracking number early this afternoon. Mines due by 10AM tomorrow.

okkkkk but what did it say that time ... ships within 24 hours or something?

It said In Stock, ships same day if ordered by xxx time. Just like always. Amazon is very consistent. It's a promotion which is what many apparently don't understand. It's got nothing to do with how much your kindle cost, you had to meet the terms of the promotion.

Amazon is very consistent.

My experience, when compared with at least one member on this forum who, despite not having the Special Offer Kindle, has received the code from Amazon, shows that not to be the case. Perhaps you hadn't read the whole thread.

I do understand it's promotion. The concept is not so advanced that I can't grasp it. I also understand though, that at least one person got in on said promotion without meeting the requirements. I simply tried to do the same. If it works, great. If not, no harm done.

I agree. However, I don't think it's unreasonable to see how customers who spend more money on the same device would like to get the same offers made available to them. Simple as that. As I stated before, it would be good if, in a future software update, Amazon allowed regular Kindle owners (as opposed to the Special Offer Kindle) to opt in on the ads. That would be more beneficial for Amazon too; they get more money up front for the device and then they also have people opting in for the ads. Win win for Amazon and customers.

Ordered mine using this promo. I was waiting for my J&R gift card from Nextworth for selling my 1st gen MBA but this deal is too good to pass up. I'll just use my gift card for something else unless somebody's interested ($212.50 J&R gift card) when it arrives...

Thank you very much OP! :)

Just want to say a few things...

First, thanks much to the OP! I placed my order for the base 13" tonight!

Second, I just wanted to say that I tried 3 times today to get the code through Amazon support. I was denied twice in chat and once through email. It must be very rare to get a rep who will give you the discount code.

I ended up picking up the Kindle (my fiancé wanted one anyway).

I'm super excited for it to arrive. Now if only I didn't have to wait 1-2 months...

Amazon isn't dumb. It's all about marketing and rolling money. They made a ton of money because of this, selling Kindles. Even if a lot of poeple return them after they got a code, they still used your money. That's how corps do it and they thank you for it :)

sdfjlsdfj I'm so mad that it came out NOW ):

If i had boughten this a month later I could have saved 200 bucks. ****.

Anyways, does anyone wanna buy a code? ; ) PM.

So I have my 20% off coupon, and I just returned my Air to Best Buy, HOWEVER, I paid for my Air with cash (sold my Pro then went straight to Best Buy) so I have to wait 5-7 business days for my money, as they send it in a check. My question is, should I buy a base 13inch off Amazon now and be completely broke until next Friday or should I wait a week and buy it when I get my Best Buy money? I know the promo will still be going on, I'm just scared they might take off the 13 inch base Air, as the 11 inch base disappeared. Any suggestions?

You must have a Kindle with Special Offers model, which is a slightly cheaper version that displays ads and special offers like this one.

Can I just go into a Staples and use the code from the display Kindle?

I don't have a 20% coupon but I do have good news:

I just called GEICO, and saved 15% on my insurance!! :p

Are you guys absolutely sure that it's one per kindle and not one per Amazon account? Could you log out of your account and log into another and get the code again? Could anyone with a Kindle SO a d 2 Amazon accounts try that?

On the Kindle it says one per device

Well. I for one will be saving the money. The problem is. I sorta feel like I should have ordered a mbp 15 with it. Wonder if amazon will allow me to change now.

Contact Amazon, I bet they will let you, but I would talk to them before canceling your order.

I'm just sticking with the air. It was only ever meant to be a stop gap but I've now (with awesome coupon spent half of what I had originally. So if my gf wants it later she can probably have it.

Tried that today and it wont work.

does seem a bit counterintuitive

The reason the cheaper Kindle is cheaper is that it has advertising. A bunch of people just went out and bought notebook computers. I'm guessing that even with the 20% off they still made a margin, and sold some more Kindles along the way. It was only "select" notebooks.
