I need an one-handed friendly, light weight(138g or less) and able to unlock from desk without picking it up. One more thing, latest A chip of course.:p I am happy with it.

People that think SE2 will have a plastic back lmao. Not a chance. SE was exactly like iPhone 5s, not 5c.

A plastic back is a bad idea because it adds weight, assuming you want to match the strength of aluminum and glass.

iPhone 5 = 112g
iPhone 5c = 132g

You need 20g of plastic, just to match the strength of aluminum.

iPhone 7 = 138g
iPhone 8 = 148g

The glass back added 10g for iPhone 8.

Great info. Did not imagine the plastic being heavier. For this new phone though, I imagine the plastic as just the glass portion on the iPhone 8 but the aluminum band frame remains. Not like the 5c where even the aluminum band was replaced with plastic.

This isn’t anything near a flagship device and yeah, Apple’s software is a lot better.
So you think Siri is better than Google assistant, iCloud mail is better than Gmail, iCloud is better than Google drive, the non existent customization on an iPhone is better than Android, apple maps is better than Google Maps. I can keep going buddy iOS is sad compared to Androids software

Any details on 9/SE2 e-SIM compatibility. Right now the smallest iPhone with e-SIM is 11 pro. General consensus seems to avoid XS. I wish 11/XR were smaller.

If the released product looks like this render and matches all of the rumored specs (3GB ram, A13, etc).

I'll finally be moved to upgrade from my iPhone 7. Day 1 purchase.

I'm still not seeing how this is a great deal with the iPhone 8 as a direct competitor. Phone's look identical, display is the same, battery will probably be slightly larger on the 9, cameras are better, and processor, but you lack 3D touch, and you can probably get the iPhone 8 for another $200 cheaper at this point.

The SE worked because it was extremely cheap (same cost as used or new older generation iPhone's), and the same as the 5S but better. The 9 to the 8 is chunkier, loses 3D touch, and is likely more expensive.

Likely Replacing iPhone 8 instead of competing against it. iPhone 8, much like iPhone 7 now will still be available via 3rd party channel.

So 2020 Lineup

iPhone 9 : 4.7" / 5.5"

iPhone 12 : 5.4" / 6.1"

iPhone 12 Pro : 6.1" / 6.7"

I hope they call it something else though. iPhone 9 sounds as compared to current 12. When you get A13 inside. I think the price will be the same as iPhone 8 if they release it in March, and $50 drop in September when iPhone 12 ships.

If there is no 256 GB that would be unsatisfying :(

Am currently on an 8/256 for easy one-handed use but since all iPhones' physical access security (up to the 2017 generation) is unfixable broken thanks to the Checkm8 flaws I'd like to replace it but I don't want to give up on Touch ID :/

It's a real POS move from Apple that they continue selling products if they know that they have unfixable flaws.

They really want to save the design of the iPhone 4 for the iPhone 12. If they use the 4 design in the iPhone 9, it would kill the X and 11.

I was naively thinking to have hybrid (i know it'd be ugly) design - chin bezel + touchID and small forehead bezel or notch - just to have more screen real estate (extra half an inch ??)
But y'know it would look like original iPhone's back, and would be fun to have reminiscence of some kind lol.

Honestly tho - I've been thinking of getting iPhone for so long (moving from BlackBerry z10) and this iPhone 9 (SE 2) maybe a good entry point for me.

Back looking nice - I wish it comes with full screen and touchID on the side, hence make the device bit thicker to get more battery life like 4500 mAh lol

Absolutely I think Siri is better than Google assistant because she does everything I need (even has tested better at commands) and doesn’t mine my data.

I despise Gmail for similar reasons and think it’s harder to use.

Same with Google Maps...Apple Maps is more than fine...I prefer it.

iPhones has better security, privacy, and support than Android...period. iPhones have better chips, better resale value, and longer usability. Better video and as good or better cameras than almost any other Android phone, the “better” being subjective at the very top.

iOS > Android

yeah MrWhoseTheBoss posted a video that iPhone Camera is consistent to get Silver Medal - and iPhone does "good" job - and this consistency is hard to beat.

Android is almost always shiny on spec especially on Camera and Display - but support often ends at 2 years mark - and OS / Security update is almost non existent unless you get Pixel phone.

If the price is the only issue on iPhone - this SE 2 will bring "decent" good phone like original SE did - and hope the trend continue as budget friendly 'SE" line

This is the funniest s#@t I have read all year! I won't even begin to explain why cause you must not travel out of the USA. Apple maps sucks and Siri is basic as hell

Instant buy if:

- bigger battery for the sake of dropping off 3D touch
- A13 chip (long software support)
- camera supports night mode as rumored (even 2018 iPhones didn't get the night mode)
- 64GB with the price of 399$ (would be 499€ here in Europe probably)

kudos if:
- IP67 rating
- Bluetooth 5.0
- wireless charging

I want to believe.

If this is true, one might just pick up a OnePlus or something. This is simply to dull at that pricepoint.

For my usage. Else I’d be using android.

I'll probably get one *if* it has eSIM/Dual SIM (which is really the only feature I'm missing on my 8 as someone who travels a lot internationally) and isn't significantly bigger or heavier than the 8. I have no use for 3-eyed cameras etc. and don't like the added weight and/or bulk of the new higher-end iPhones.
It's like you are me. That would be the sole reason I buy this. Hate the bigger sized phones and would indeed even pay the same price as an 11 to be able to have a dual-sim variant of an SE or this so-called 9.

Please Apple: Why can't we get a 5S sized device with a modern full-face display? (i.e. matching display size of phone 8 etc, but in a body the size of the 5S).
Probably due to current technological limitations regarding battery capacities. A full-face display would consume so much more battery power, that is why they gravitated more and more towards larger phones which are easier to make with so much space inside making it easier to place parts in.
