my 24 inch iMac overheated and killed the logic board after 4 months. took 7 SEVEN long weeks to repair at Cancom in Edinburgh Scotland (AppleCare? NEVER again)
i was told the 24 is too big and there were a dozen others in the shop.
beware when buying. doesnt happen to all of them but it is happening

You realize that this is anecdotal and unsupported evidence, right?

Here, let's try this;

My 24" iMac, purchased in April 2009 is over six months old and is running great, therefore I think all iMacs work great and no problems to speak of!

Or...

Just about everyone I know with a MBP has had some sort of hardware failure...and I'd like to say that was a big exaggeration, but the fact it almost all of my close friend and most of my classmates has had theirs break.

Doesn't mean avoid them, it just means get AppleCare.

I guess its safe to say its gonna happen soon.

I want my matte LED screen quad core iMac with goodies (hopefully both touch AND blu-ray) already.

So get a pre-order page up or at least do the minor bump refreshes so I can feel crushed and move on with my life! :p

Hi guys:

A few minutes ago I went to the store to check if anything had changed, and I saw this:

When I clicked the "Select" button it just gave me some error gobbletygook, so I hit back in my browser and did a grab.

Surely I'm not crazy?

looks fine, but i'm hoping for an 'Apple Store Down' today! I really want to get rid of my Dell (even though it's a beast)

.....Will the iMac get touch capabilities? I see Gateway's just new AIO joins HP's and Dell's touch screens.
Gateway's new AIO also has: Quad CPU, 64 GB SSD and 1 TB SATA Hard drive (both!), ATI HD 4670 GPU, wireless keyboard/mouse, and a TV Tuner for $1399 USD.

Hopefully, Apple will top or at least match these specs. I've been waiting a long time to get my first Mac!

If there would be an update today, which I doubt very much, so would the Apple Store already be down. But I can not wait - I have been without a Mac for almost three months. Spend time with a PC is not the most fun. And the only time I have lots of money to spend is now form e, and then it takes so long for the update to come.

ARGH.

My guess is still on October 13.

By now I'm pretty sure there is no event. Invites would be out already for any update in October. Also, Oct 20 has to be the worse date to launch produc updates. Apple won't steal MS thunder, it will be the other way around. Press will talk about Apple for one day, then every thing will be about Windows 7. I think it will be on the 13 or 27. Probably the 13th. I just sold my iMac and need a new one quick.

Whatever the specs are, I've been irking out a computing existence on an AMD Turion-based laptop for the past few months whilst waiting to see if there's a refresh before I buy; NEED MAC NOW, UNNNGGH

Not necessarily, last years October event was the 14th and invites were sent out the 8th.
