And for the record it was not an Apple store Employee that he asked. It was a Apple corporate business Partner. So Who knows who gets to know what info when. But he was not saying anything for sure, He was just giving his own thoughts on the matter based on what he already knows which may or may not be more than any of us!

The event has to be next Tuesday. Apple will most likely unveil the tablet during the Keynote in January therefore moving up a design refresh of the iMac and mini to October. And the one more thing will be the touch with a camera. Why would apple steal it's own "thunder" by refreshing the iMac line with the tablet? Friday cant come soon enough (the potential deadline for an invitation to the anticipated event).

On every wednesday it's my birthday because someone ought to understand that it's understood that you have 2 be a 0-day thermal virus head.

Are you an actual insider? Why should we give you any acknowledgement of;

Well, I'm not an insider, but I do have a Ouija Board...it told me, while laughing, to go to H E double toothpicks.

I'm also technically a newbie, but I've been reading here for a long, long time. I finally have decided to post...here's what's bugging me:

I was surfing around Apple and saw that Apple now has Mac Minis back...two to four weeks to ship. (That's changed from: buy it now from PowerMax, they have five..no four...left.) But here's the rub:

You can get the 599 Mini Mac for 729.88 from Techno Intelligence (hey, free shipping!) and the 799 Mini Mac for 949.88. And it still takes an extra 3-4 days for their processing, but they do say it's in stock. While I was surfing, I noticed other price gouging (that's what I'd call it)...some refurbished models OVER 800 dollars. WTH?

amazon also ran out of all models except one ...

that was awhile ago...Amazon has all models 3-4 business days shipping. The Apple Store (US) has all models shipping 24hrs with one 1-3 business days. Best Buy does everything in store, but I bet if you checked they'd have some too.

Its all back in stock, so now what?

I'm like several others here....sitting on my hands waiting for this alleged refresh. The last time I bought a Mac....the Intel chip came out a couple of weeks later and I've been ticked off ever since.

That non-Intel was a G5, and served me well, although it was kind of my first lemon. (I've had a Mac since my toaster Mac Plus II, that had a whopping 8 mb of ram....it still works and I can't let it go.) It had the random shutdown that started on day four, and Apple jerked me around for a year before finally saying Uh, maybe you need to take it in for service. I never bought Apple Care because I never needed it...and they said bring it in right after the warranty was up. However, I did a lot of crying and they took pity on me and made it right. They put in a new power supply and I only had random shutdowns now and then, instead of a few times a day.

But...power supply EXPLODED about two weeks ago. I've always replaced/upgraded parts myself, including power supplies in earlier models, but this one scared me. I live two hours from an Apple store, so was going to take it to Best Buy (who knew they worked on Macs??? but they really don't, they just say they do in their yellow page ad) and have them replace it.

However, they had no way to test it, so I would have to order the part, take it in and they'd replace it for under 100 bucks for labor. And that's *assuming* it was actually the power supply and not the logic board (a possibility apparently). Then I thought, you know, for a couple hundred more bucks, I could just get a Mac Mini. Oh, the CD/DVD drive was play only and about dead....so this computer hasn't been the race horse my other Macs have been.

My plan was to buy a nice Mac Pro next summer, but right now I can only afford the Mini (I just bought a new monitor and external drive to replace the broken DVD drive). It's been a bad six weeks in computer terms.

Then I come across all of this speculation and geesh....I don't want a repeat of the Intel disappointment. That's really started to suck, finding apps that only work on the Intel-based Macs. So with the Mini, I can get the Intel, Snow Leopard and a shiny new little cutie all in one. I'll use it for two years, then buy whatever is for sale then. Mac Pro Plus Super Dooper or whatever. The Mini will serve my needs for now. (I also had been looking to upgrade the graphics card on my G5, but decided to wait til next summer and just get a MP...but the gods intervened)

So that's my big woe is me story, and I've been obsessed with this site, Google news and Apple Insider ever since.....waiting.

I had finally told myself I'd wait until today and then if nothing, I'm ordering. LOL. Now I've found an excuse (I'm busy...haha) to wait until Friday. Oh wait, as long as I'm waiting til Friday, might as well wait until NEXT TUESDAY.

Somebody get me some Xanax!!!!

And then I find that Techno something store selling the Minis for 150 over list price...that did me in.

In the meantime, I'm limping along on my G4 Ibook. Good little guy, but I've only got 768 ram in it and I'm on Panther. That was fine for traveling and the few things I use it at home for, but I've hooked it up to my wide screen monitor (blahhhhhh) and my keyboard and my Graphire tablet/mouse. So I've got a temporary fix, but I really need something.

Has someone checked their top secret sources today? Or the magic 8 ball?

it still appears as though amazon does not have any Mac Minis or iMacs. There are resellers associated with Amazon that has some, but not Amazon itself.

You can order from best buy online and Mac Minis and iMacs look thin, with one of each model unavailable for ordering.

I had no idea until the last week or two that Best Buy even carried Macs. I've been watching their Minis, and both models are there, but says they're backordered. One says out of stock, don't know when it's coming back and the other says not available online now, check in stores. (I checked, unavailable.)

I don't know about the other models, just the minis.

John Lewis, a respected UK chain of department stores has 6 Mac models (4 iMacs models, 1 Mac Pro and 1 Mac Mini) on its Apple desktop page (be patient as the link seems to load several makes and then deletes all non-Apples), but if you click on each model only the Mini is in stock. That's unusual, but given what others have reported recently in this blog, it doesn't mean much and they may have all in stock soon.

This would go along with the info I posted this weekend of an aquaintence going to Cupertino on Monday for an "event"

Ah, but since Monday was a holiday of sorts, perhaps Wednesday is the new Tuesday, at least this week.

That's what I was going to say! All the reading I've done this year on this site points to evidence of "when there's a public holiday, any Tuesday event / activity is usually moved to the Wednesday."

But as everyone keeps saying.. it's just another way of making 'tomorrow' more believable / hopeful

You know I first thought Apple wouldn't hold an event the same week Windows 7 launch parties were being held. Now after some thought it would actually be a genius thing to do.
With all the Mac vs. PC commercials and the fact that Apple wants people to know Macs run Windows makes me think there very well could be an event the same week Windows 7 is launched. Great PR.

If this is the case we can expect invites tomorrow or Thursday.

We will see I suppose.
