lol, and the internet hits a new low, trolling the service reps pretending to be computer illiterate to glean information. Love it
You: yeah do these come with a blue ray player as an option in custom order?
Grace G: Macs do not currently include that option.
I did it for eveyone to see. I'm patient but enjoy reading eveyones take on the update. The only thing that she did was pause a long time before she stated that she "could not speculate" on the problem regarding the shipping delay and there was a great pause after i asked if new components were on the horizon.
Theres nothing wrong with pretending im twice my age and in to cars!
I wish I could have gotten some new model numbers from Best Buy!
They always say could not speculate, on everything nothing newI did it for eveyone to see. I'm patient but enjoy reading eveyones take on the update. Its gotta mean something! Hopefully you will be receiving the new imac! Does it still say not delivering till 10/19/09?
I think it is slowly sinking in - NO UPDATES this year.
I will make a crazy prediction - and let this post stand as a record:
In 2010 Apple will be forced to diversify their product line.
We'll get the mid-tower. We'll get far more variety. It won't be Dell style plentitude, but it will be greater than today.
Here's why. Apple's strategy was good until the economy collapsed and the consumer has moved - in my opinion permanently - to cheaper alternatives. Doing more with less. I've seen this happen in the high end film and video camera market. Pro-level equipment by Sony and Panasonic f.ex., has dropped by 50%-70% on current high end broadcast cameras! The high end is dead and dying. The same for still cameras and now is happening in computers - power is moving downstream and becoming cheaper.
The second reason is that Apple has trapped itself. By focusing so exclusively on a narrow range of mobile chips, they are limited as to the markets they can penetrate and more importantly, can update - LIKE NOW. It doesn't look good, if the PC computers are both cheaper and more powerful BY A WIDE MARGIN. You can ask for the Apple premium - but only for so much. When you ask people to pay twice as much for twice as little, you lose. So it's move to the full range of Intel chips, or watch the buyers revolt. Yes, even Apple fans. They are really pushing it right now, and I think they know it.
Expect this to be the last "bad" patch of Apple falling behind and having no updates like in forever (as they did with the mini for almost 3 years).
For now, no updates. Next year, you'll see a new Apple.
I HAVE SPOKEN. You shall see the truth of my words when the future arrives. Then you shall thank me, and beg me for more words of wisdom. And then depending on how nicely you behave, I might drop a hint from time to time.

The fact tha sales of iPhones and MacBooks are actually up in this economy seems to cast doubt on your theory, Corpse.
No, it confirms my theory. Drastic price cuts (iPhone - how much was it when it first came out... and how much is it today... several hundred percent lower price) and lower end machines (MacBooks).
Lower prices. Everything moving to the lower end. More variety of product. Faster updates to keep product turnover fresh. Watch it happen. Observe. Then bow down to my insight. If I feel like it, I'll provide more.
You can bet that if and when new iMacs including high performance ones are announced you will see this in the corresponding MR thread;

It's fun to speculate about this stuff Corpse but you seem to take it a bit more seriously than others. I have a feeling you don't bat 1000 at the prediction game any more than the rest of us.

Did anyone catch this?

Looks like Best Buy is out of pretty much everything, as are all of the BB stores in my area. Points to soon, methinks. (if someone already posted this, sorry, that's a lot of pages to read through)

And for the guy who posted his 10 page conversation of trying to coax information out of a low paid apple rep, get a lfe!![]()
I have a life, I was simply providing legitimate information for viewers of this thread. I'm still amazed at how dissapointing it is that readers of the forums can be so negative; why post if your mad at the world? It wasn't your time "wasted" chating with an apple rep.
Invitations by Friday, now go get a life!![]()
That doesn't surprise me, since the SKU for that model has been discontinued and Apple is not making it anymore, so the stores cannot refresh it and all of them will eventually run out of stock. I can't believe Apple would go for long without any units in the pipeline, so there must be an update coming soon.
