Why. They are trying to steal some of Microsoft's thunder and dampen their launch

I really doubt it. After all Apple went to all that trouble to make sure anyone could install Microsoft Window's on their computers. Then there is Office. I know a few other Mac users who rely on it being available. I can point to two who did not switch until the Intel version of Office was available.

Apple didn't have any trouble at all, they bought boot camp.

So does the danish store

Looks like most EU store are now out of macmini's

Switzerland is out of the 2.93 iMacs

I also agree next Tuesday for the announcement

The danish Apple Store says 5 days on Mini too, but the entire iMac line still ships within 24 hours

Perhaps its because they think that they can still sell some more iMacs before taking them off the web site.. Either that or macmini stock is low enough for them to take off and keep the rest for warranty replacements

I believe there's enough evidence supposition that the roll out will be next tuesday. But if your looking for a good deal, there's been a constant update on the refurb site of some great machines for several hundred off the price. I've been thinking of getting the $1599 3.06 iMac myself. But will probably wait to see what new comes out

History shows Apple goes through a slew of updates on its major saftware just before a big release and I think that is what we are seeing. Once everything is smoothed out then the new hardware will hit the streets. Its coming.

I think the recent SL data loss bug may have set them back a bit.

I don't think a software bug which affects some users will stop them from releasing a 'planned' hardware update.

Sure it will. You think they will want to sell hardware loaded with software capable of destroying user data?

Get real. As soon as that fix is announced we will see the hardware

The software bug is only present on machines that were updated from Leopard to Snow Leopard. And some more things, that aren't relevant for the discussion.

So no. It really has nothing to do with the new hardware

That would mean that they have to stop selling anything in the store loaded with SL. And they are still selling hardware....

errrr.... if they want to make a big event out of it, then it is very likely that they will release an update WITH all of the new hardware to make more of an occasion of it: it would look stupid if they did an event and then left a relatively large bit of it until 2 weeks later..... so they may have postponed the whole event until they have a fix for the bug.
This would also account for the stock shortages dragging on for so long.

the bug has nothing to do with hardware updates. Different teams completely. That's like saying Microsoft won't release any new Xbox because they need to update Vista SP1. Get real.

OMG, Someone could explain this people the diferences between hardware and software?

The Snow Leopard topic has no sense in a new hardware event

i'm beginning to think no new imacs today either. the store should be down if they were releasing something..

this has just been one big disappointment.

It does from the stand point of the public impression. The SL bug is now surfacing on generic loads of Google news.

See, public impression doesn't need facts or be logical to have impact. Apple announces new hardware and I guarantee someone will ask about the data loss bug.

So in order to minimize that possibility they won't release till the bug is fixed. That way their day in the sun isn't soiled by some cretins question.

I know it doesn't affect new installations, however it is a question they don't want asked and someone would.
