FFS, Apple - stop making features only available to the largest screen size! Some of us want "all the premium" in a smaller form factor! (They've been doing this for a very long time - I remember in 2003 buying my 12" PowerBook G4 and missing out on features the 17" model had. The iPhone 7 Plus getting the second camera but not the smaller iPhone 7, etc.)
I'd gladly take "all the non-premium" in the iPhone 5 size. I only use my phone for basic tasks like sending messages or calling Ubers, and I want it to fit in my pocket. There's no way I'm alone.

I understand your responding to *this* article. My question is still, why do you assume that all the other leakers are wrong and this Fast Company is right?

Im not assuming this is fact or a done deal. I’m stating that if this rumor is correct, I will be disappointed. Does that work for you?

Except it doesn’t mean that in this case. So you have a “pro” 6.1 device but you have the more “pro” pro at 6.7. Apple needs to just drop the pro moniker.
There are two different models of 6.1” iPhone, one is mid-tier (iPhone 12), the other is at the top of the line (iPhone 12 Pro). The Pro is rumored to be about $300 more than the regular model.

iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro seems to make sense to me. How would you prefer Apple name them, since you don’t like the word Pro?

For the 6.7”, there is only a top of the line model, iPhone 12 Pro Max. I guess you would like to rename it as well. Suggestions?

Honestly. These days the premium features, Lidar, 5G, Wide angle camera aren't all that appealing and I really just want the cheapest phone right now.

It seemed like you were taking the rumor of the day, from an unvetted anonymous source, as fact.

I think I read too much into your post. My mistake, sorry about that 😬

If they decide against releasing an iPhone with mm 5G here in the UK then this is going to be the year I move to Android. It would be a terrible decision. £1k+ phones should have a multi year life span.
There is no mmWave 5G in the UK... 🤦🏽‍♂️

No wonder Tim Cook cashed out last week.

Another long on ignorance, microscopically short on facts, post from you.

It would behove you to learn just how CEOs etc. leverage these stock sales: usually they’re planned for months in advance and one has to first notify the SEC of the sale under rule 144.

In this case they were sold under Rule 10b5-1 which is triggered when a certain price and volume conditions were met. This is a process designed to prevent people from taking advantage of insider knowledge.

In other words, the sale had nothing to do with knowing anything insider as you have accused.

In addition all tech stocks took a hammering on 9/3 - not just Apple.

Also, unsure why you’re all over this “where’s the announcement?”. It’s a rumor, a guess, an assumption. You know full well that Apple have yet to announce anything.

On my phone I'm using 3G most of the time, which is more than enough for social media, maps, Netflix and Youtube. But yeah, 5G must be awesome for ... I guess VR immersion? Any apps doing that yet, like bringing 20 people together making it seem like they are in one room despite being in 20 different locations?

Thought so.... so what's the rush?

Such a non-issue really. As if one human being on the planet would notice a 200mbit vs a 1000mbit download on a PHONE. This isn't a workhorse computer. It's a phone. 4K doesn't need 5Gmmwave to function (and hint hint: the iphone screens barely do more than 1080p. So...)

Does anyone even care about this 5G?
I believe Kuo reported this few months back.
Also, I do not really trust the first generation of 5G modems.
Not because of the implemented spec, but power consumption, switching protocols and so forth.
I will certainly wait until next year, my 4G phone plus WiFi works just fine.

I remember times, where I looked for tri-band gsm phones, that would work everywhere in the world. Then came the iPhone, which truly did.

Now we have this beancounter CEO who gives us crippled phones that only partially support of available protocols. And he gives them us a whole month too late.

Steve would have never allowed this.

You mean the Steve who shipped the iPhone without UMTS, in 2007?

I think he’s talking about that Steve Jobs guy who was famous for just adding alllll the features users ever wanted and never removing or omitting something for seemingly arbitrary reasons. Peace be upon him, etc.

True or not about the Pro Max, it is still very early days for 5G development. The more I read about 5G, the less interested I am. The real benefits like IoT and efficiencies are five years away.
