Seeing this post got me all excited so I phoned Orange straight away.

HOWEVER! Whilst the very helpful girl ordered me a nano sim (and she knew exactly what it was and knew about the iPhone 5), she did day that it could take between 4-14 days!

When I mentioned that people on here were told they were getting it by the weekend she said "no that's not right as we are covering all our pre orders first so its impossible to say exactly when you will receive it"

So...there you go....hope she is wrong but she actually sounded pretty clued up

Haha they're like a bunch of headless chickens at Orange. when I ordered mine they said it would be shipped today or tomorrow and that It would take up to 5 working days. I even went onto online chat to confirm it after the call and they told me the same.

Just ordered mine, actually very helpful on the iPhone department. She said to give them a call to register it when it arrives. Is that ring the iPhone department or?

Just got off phone from Orange iPhone dept. They are sending me a nano sim but say it could take 4 business days.

I queried their earlier advice that an Orange nano sim can be collected directly from the Apple store but she now says that this is not possible.

So if you haven't already, phone Orange, ask for their iPhone dept and request a nano sim. It might just arrive by Friday! (I hope)

Just called 150
selected option1
option 4
option 2
then pressed 1 to speak to operator
entered incorrect password
held for operator
held for a while longer
held for a bit longer
Operator finally answers and explains they have no nano sims available until the iphone5 is released!!!

AAaaaarrrrggghhhh!!!!

Just ordered mine!! The person on the other end was very chatty!! I mentioned I saw online that people could order now and she went and mentioned that a colleague of hers was telling people that they couldn't get nano sims, but then everyone was like no no no, we can give it out now, it changed while you were on lunch! LOL

I also asked if I would be charged, and she checked my account, and apparently its free!! saves me a potential £20 (what people were saying orange would be charging) then!! nice to know, seeing as I just spent £600 for the phone!!!

Ordered!

Thanks for the help guys, have been reading this thread for the last few days, just ordered my sim, he seemed confident it will arrive for friday :)

Any one know if orange nano sims will come with adapters?

I asked this when I ordered my nano sim and was told no.

I popped into a 3 store earlier, told them I'd just received a nano sim (actually the truth - it was my backup plan if Orange didn't get their act together / the Orange sim still doesn't arrive by Friday) and they were happy to hand over a set of adapters :)

Thanks guys! checked on here when work finished and realised I could have ordered much earlier! My call to 150 went smoothly and one will be sent out to my home address. No charge mentioned. Thrilled :D

Can't see why I'd need an adapter, you need to call to activate your SIM anyway and I'd do that when it's in the phone.

I was told to call up to swap the number over, which may take up to 24 hours, so it'll be nice to do it earlier, so that you can use your phone straight away

mate got his 3 nano sim the next day. just messaged me saying i can get a nano sim through orange by calling up tomorrow "wednesday 19th september". he's big into his gadgetry being a geek n all, from what he's said as he is almost certain its happening for orange customers aswel as every other network, so i will try tomorrow and soon as i get a response i will post. NANO SIM being sent Royal Mail

Just phoned up Orange, put through to iPhone team, told sim will be sent out this afternoon, but to allow the usual 4 days...

:):):)

So I now have a 3 SIM to use if the Orange one does not arrive Friday and I can just swap them over later!

3 SIM arrived within 2 days. :):):):)

Result !!!

I have just been successful in ordering a nano sim from Orange. I ordered an unlocked 32GB direct from Apple last Friday.

I've been following this forum and last looked 24 hours ago and planned to call Orange on Friday so I was pleased to see the tweet and some successes.

I did however order a nano sim from 3 yesterday on their £12.90 monthly rolling contract. To obtain this I had to complete a DD mandate and pay the £0.10 for the credit check by debit card etc

If I don't activate that SIM from 3 will I still get charged until I cancel do you think or does the contract only become 'live' once the sim has been activated? I know I could simply go and cancel any D/D through online banking to make double sure but I'm also quite keen to see how the 3 sim signal strangth compares to the orange sim in my 3GS which is poor in my office at work. The 3 sim is batter value offering 200 mins, 5000 texts and unlimited data for £12.90
Orange offers me 100 mins, unlimited texts and 250BG of data for £10.50 (but I do get free broadband included in that, well at least I did until yesterday when I was told that I would have to switch my landline to Orange to keep it). My initial reaction was knee jerk but after looking at the fact that BT rape me £76/ quarter for business line rental, I'll only be paying Orange £42/ quarter including uncapped 19gb BB.
I've been an Orange customer since 1995, My wife and son are my magic numbers and I use the phone mainly for internet, texts and email these days, I'm not a big chatter!

Any info re the 3 sim would be appreciated.

Get calling Orange now guys. My helper was Chris. I chose upgrades on the options and didn't ask to be put through to iPhone team or anything.

Hope this helps.

Was bored so I found a O2 PAYG 3G micro sim lying around so got the scissors, sand paper and blue tack and decided to cut it into a nano sim. Was fairly easy. Looks just like a nano sim. Sanded it down so it's thinner. Not sure why I did it because I'm none the wiser now.. Until the adapter comes tomorrow.

But hope this comes by Friday anyway, then won't have to even consider cutting things up.

Seems to depend what call centre you get passed to as 4 calls got 4 different answers, I only mentioned the "iphone dept" to assist those who were having trouble. So you got through to someone who had been given the correct info as opposed to the first person I spoke to who was adamant I could not have the SIM until Friday!

One operator told me that I would have to go to an Orange Store but when you ring them they say "we know nothing" etc and tell you to ring 150!

What a way to run a company!

On contract the unlimited data on Orange costs £51 per month as opposed to 3's £12.90 so I am considering if its worth keeping the Ornage contract at all given that the EE transition to 4G is only a promise at the moment and no price plans available either or proposed coverage schedule for 4G.

Would love to hear if anyone receives a posted nano sim today. I ordered mine at 11.40 yesterday morning (just after it was announced on twitter) and there's nothing through today. I assume they're being sent second class by the "up to 4 days" thing...

Imagine Orange didn't really have any nano sims and just told us all this to fool us and get us off their backs? Just a thought. Not a very nice one at that lol.

I ordered some free o2 sims on Monday and they came this morning Royal Mail 1st class. So i ordered yesterday. 2nd class, could come by Friday. Definetly by Saturday.

I did the same and have just been on to Orange who have placed my order like others. I'd like to know if i will be able to send the 3 sim back if not needed?:confused::confused: (I'm new to all this)

My wife just rang to say that my 3 nano sim had been delivered. I have no idea what their coverage will be like but that's bloody good service. I only ordered it 24 hours ago.
I ordered my Orange one this morning and the fella said Saturday probably.

I have 3 contract Samsung Galaxy SII and Mobile Dongle with them also and have always found them most helpful. I find the 3G coverage on 3 is better than on Orange/T-Mobile.

At one location were I notoriously got bad reception 3 sent an engineer out to realign the nearby mast that had got blown off course by the wind! That was good service, went from one bar to dead to 5 bars solid!
