Just spoke with Orange this morning, all nano sim orders must be placed on Friday.

Sims will take 3 to 5 working days to be delivered ( so they must be getting delivered via 2nd class post as per normal).

Get those axes ready peeps! It's sim chopping time!

this is terrible. will they be in stores on friday as well? maybe that would be easier for most of us

I spoke to my local orange store and they said that the stores only deal with pay as you go sims ( as the numbers are pre assigned on those sims) for pay monthly existing customers we have to go through 150.

I argued the point how they were all orange but the manager explained to me that the stores are not owned by orange, but just licensed free holdings (i forget the actual term for it ,like Starbucks ) so they are not allowe to touch the pay monthly customers unless ts a new contract signing.

Yeah, as i found out the hard way when trying to cancel an orange contract taken out in-store, Orange retail are like a franchise thing and the same terms do not apply to them as orange online. As I was told repeatedly by bother arms of the orange brand they are separate entities, even thought they both trade under the orange name.

Anyhow, I called orange last night (17th September) I had arguments with several people and a manager over how terrible their knowledge was. First they knew nothing about the Nano Sim. Then when I threatened to cancel my contract within my 14 day cool off period they suddnely knew what a Nano Sim was. They told me various things, none of which got to the bottom of which was correct.

They told me I could call 150 on 21st and Order a Nano (what use is that when I'll have the phone on 21st).

They said i MIGHT be able to call 150 on 21st and order a Nano.

They said the Nano's would be available sometime AFTER 21st September.

Honestly, I've been disgusted with orange customer service from Day one. Today is my last day of my 14 cancellation right. I'm considering cancelling and going back to O2. But then I spoke to O2 and they told me I couldn't apply for a Nano Sim until 21st even if I took out a new contract today, So I don't think I'd be any better off.

Franchises! That's the word! Cheers dude!

To be honest I have been with orange since I was 12 and this is the way they have always been. They don't commit to anything unless they know it can be done , which is fair. I still remember back when my Nokia 3210 was two months late on range because they didn't like the way the OS displayed their name.

I am picking up a bunch of free giffgaff sims to practice chopping, Order the nano sim, chop mine down so i can flash the phone in the pub on the following week, then sim swap to the nano sim when it decides to turn up.

If everyone does this, giffgaff would think they hit the jackpot with a tsunami of new sign ups, lol.

@orangeuk now saying there trying to get the nano sims out by Friday.
Think they haven't got a clue!!

They tweeted and replied to my direct message yesterday stating that You will be able to order your nano sim card for PAYG and existing customers on the 21st either by phone or in store.

----------

if not get the scissors out and get to your local phone shop to pick up some free sims to test it on first.

Orange Nano Sim on way (Apparently)

Hi guys have been checking this and other forums on what to do with regards getting hold on a Nano Sim, as I like many have ordered directly from Apple an unlocked 5.

I have ordered 4 free Orange Sims (standard size) in preparation of cutting them down for practice, to then 'attempt' on my iPhone 4S Micro Sim just incase I can't get a Nano when the phone turns up.

Further to this I spoke to many CS people, both from Apple and Orange CS and like many was told different stories along the way....

Friday 14th 8.08am - ordered iPhone 5 32GB Black from Apple Store Online

Friday 14th 12pm - spoke with Neil at Orange CS, 150 option 1,2,4 (I'm on Orange Premier if that makes any difference these days) He said he would diarise a note to check twice a day on the availability of a Nano Sim to be sent out to me

Tuesday 18th 8.01am - Spoke with Orange CS again didn't mention i had spoken to Neil/CS on Friday, spoke with someone different, he told me he is aware of the issue of supply and that he had a meeting with an Apple/Orange team where he was told that Apple will supply a Nano Sim with all phones!

Tuesday 18th 8.06am - spoke with Apple UK CS, was told they do not supply Nano Sims with Orange/T-Mobile/Unlocked Sim Free phones! (You can imagine at 8am ish how i was feeling this morning!!

Tuesday 18th 10.31am received the SMS from Orange CS (Neil) below...

Anyhow I thought I'd register on the forum, hello btw :), I've just received a text message from Orange CS, the guy I spoke to on Friday 14th Sept, saying the following....

"Good Morning Charles I have sent out a nano sim as requested on Friday. You will get this in the next 4 Working days I hope you enjoy your new phone. Thanks Neil"

Obviously I've not received the Nano Sim yet, I always reside on the edge of caution with these sorts of promises, but I hope this helps you guys...

Cheers

Charlie.

BTW I didn't have to pay for the Sim.

Well, following the @OrangeHelpers feed, I just called 150 - they STILL don't have a clue about nano-sims, and said OM customers have to buy them from Apple.

So much for joined up thinking! Anyone else having better luck?

And finally ordered!

The usual caveat of 4-5 business days but it is being sent First Class apparently...

+1

I can confirm to the nation that I have ordered a nano sim over the phone, now im wondering if these are possible to get from the store immediately?

Can someone confirm that?

Orange just rang back, they said they just have had an announcement and can now order nano sims! Currently on hold being transferred...

People it is in there internal comms that they can now send it out, as one of the orange employees actually called me back and said that she put it on hold for me and I got it sent out after just calling them now.

You just have to get through to the right ppl.

Nope the guy just told me he'd spoken to a colleague in the iPhone team and that they can't send them until the 21st still. What is going on?!
