Decided to cancel the second order to eliminate any future problems with my shipment.

I have an order from AT&T and one from Apple. The Apple one is delivery June 24th. The AT&T one was placed at 6am on the 15th so it should be June 24th but the useless bastards at AT&T didn't process the order till the 16th so they will ship it later than people who ordered after me but got their order processed same day.

I tried several times to cancel the AT&T pre-order and they won't cancel it and told me to cancel the Apple one. I'm not cancelling the Apple one and it says $299 for June 24th delivery.

Any advice on how to cancel the AT&T order?

Last time I ever pre-order from T

Well I canceled my AT&T order on Thursday. Today Apple canceled my other order. AND I'm out my $199 upgrade.

****

Oh wow. This was my worst fear during the whole situation. I didn't cancel any orders for fear of this happening. Maybe if you had kept both orders you'd still be getting the AT&T one? I'd definitely be doing some calling. At the VERY least you should get your upgrade eligibility back, and you should be getting a phone on the 24th. This is BS.

I'll let you know what happens with mine.

My Apple order now shows as shipping. My AT&T order still shows as processing.

Looks like I will get at least one. This was such a clusterfark....anyone else reading this thread should just leave your dupe orders alone!!!! You'll only end up flagging your remaining order for special attention.

Tass, did you get any official communications from AT&T or Apple or did your order just go poof?

Yeah. That's why I'm thinking - because my AT&T order was starting to be processed it f--ked something up on Apple's side. But if I hadn't canceled the AT&T order, I probably would have gotten it - All be it, not on the 24th.

Yeah, that's the last remaining puzzle piece: when will the ATT orders actually come? It sucks to have an Apple order that was going to arrive on the 24th and lose it and have to wait for ATT to get their act together. What a total cluster.

My AT&T order was several hours after the cut-off time, so I figured not on the 24th.

Maybe I can at least get the upgrade thing resolved so I can at least stand in line on the 24th. Or maybe I'll just wait....

They screwed up my account and lost my subsidized upgrade when I tried to get a 3GS on launch day because of the servers going down. It took three days to get it resolved so I just gave up.

Man you have my luck. When I started getting through on Apple's servers, I called my buddy who was trying to get a phone and told him to give me his info and I'd order one on his account for him since I had gotten through. I did, and I just checked and his says "prepared for shipment". Mine doesn't. Not a good sign. I fully expect my Apple order to get KO'd shortly and kiss my launch day phone goodbye. Thanks AT&T!

This is why on the pre-order day I opted not to order on the ATT site even though people said it was going through. I kept going on the Apple site (starting at night and finishing the next afternoon) because I had more faith in Apple.

When I had multiple Apple orders I cancelled the other two so there wouldn't be any problem. Now I'm "prepared for shipping."

I was worried about multiple orders causing problems like this.

Definitely get on the phone with someone to try to get your order back. I would work through Apple. Apple keeps records of these things (on my order status it still shows the other orders there, just marked "cancelled"). You should get your upgrade price and order back.

I cancelled my AT&T order a couple days ago. The guy over the phone gave me a confirmation number for the cancellation, but I never got an email. Not worried though. My Apple order is at prepared for shipment, so it seems like I'm good to go.

The guy at Apple told me that I failed to agree to AT&T's terms and conditions.

First he told me that I should have received an email where I clicked on a link to agree. And then he told me that there was some little check box on the order page that I missed.

What? This makes no sense.

I wish I would have had the nerve to do the same. I told myself I wasn't going to order from AT&T, but I caved and it's going to bite me.

I just got off the phone with Apple (second time). They told me it wasn't the agreement (which he told me I would have up to a week to sign), all he could see was that it was an internal error - probably due to my duplicate order with AT&T. He said since it was canceled, it couldn't be reinstated. But he was able to get me a reservation at my local Apple store for the 24th. So it's something. I just have to make sure my eligibility is back before Thursday.

i think it is hilarious when you people that ordered one from both at&t and apple are getting them both canceled :D. Maybe you will learn a lesson out of all this (doubt it though).

Sleazy e, your name fits you nicely by the way, but not everyone was being greedy or trying to pull one over on AT&T. .

I am in the same boat. I placed an order with AT&T and never got a confirmation email, waited 3 hours and then called AT&T and they said my order didn't exist. I gave them my order number again, same thing so I went to apple's site and got one there and got a email right then. I wake up the next day and I then have one with AT&T also so I try to call AT&T to cancel right then and they tell me I can't! I try for the next few days and keep getting the same answer so I finally spoke to a higher up at AT&T and he said I would just receive both phones and to send one back. I have been charged for both phones and neither have been canceled and they better not be because I did everything in my power to fix the situation and AT&T stopped me. So sleazy e, your name fits you nicely by the way, but not everyone was being greedy or trying to pull one over on AT&T. If my orders get canceled i will move to sprint and get the evo since I am stillbin my original 30 day return policy.

+1

I hate to say it, but I agree. It seems a little silly to wine and complain that there are problems with the orders when someone went and placed two orders on two systems for the same product on an account where only one is allowed. Talk about asking for trouble.

Kind of like trying to rush and park two cars in the same spot, changes are both will get wrecked in the process.

It happened to me... initially placed my order through AT&T but was advised by a CSR that the order was not in their system and for lack of a better term, "didn't exist." Hearing that, I proceeded to Apple's site where all of a sudden after 10 hours I was able to order. Bingo. Well the CSR was wrong and two days later I get a hit on my credit card from AT&T. I call to cancel the order which I was initially told didn't exist. I ask if it will cause problems and am told no. Gee, second wrong answer in two straight calls. Now, my upgrade date is next fall (2011) and I am out an iPhone 4. Did I try to play the system? Negative. I fulfilled my 2 year contract for my 3G and tried to upgrade and got screwed for it in the end.

upgrade date

for those of you that had duplicate orders at at&t and apple: does preordering through apple extend your contract and upgrade date? before i preordered, att's website told me i was eligible for upgrade. i then tried to preorder through att's site, but the final confirmation page never came up, so i then made a preorder for in-store pickup at an apple retail store. when i got the email that the att order did go through, i called and had it canceled.

now my upgrade date is february 2012, and i'm afraid that the contract was extended by the now cancelled att preorder, and i will have problems picking up my phone at the apple store. i called att, and they informed me that preordering through apple for pickup DOES extend your contract automatically, but i am skepical. is anyone else in the same boat/know if i'm going to have any problems? Thanks.
