Not opened = no restocking fee. Just hold your position and if you end up with two, just return one or sell it outright. Problem solved.
Decided to cancel the second order to eliminate any future problems with my shipment.
Well I canceled my AT&T order on Thursday. Today Apple canceled my other order. AND I'm out my $199 upgrade.

Oh wow. This was my worst fear during the whole situation. I didn't cancel any orders for fear of this happening. Maybe if you had kept both orders you'd still be getting the AT&T one? I'd definitely be doing some calling. At the VERY least you should get your upgrade eligibility back, and you should be getting a phone on the 24th. This is BS.
I'll let you know what happens with mine.
Yeah. That's why I'm thinking - because my AT&T order was starting to be processed it f--ked something up on Apple's side. But if I hadn't canceled the AT&T order, I probably would have gotten it - All be it, not on the 24th.

Yeah, that's the last remaining puzzle piece: when will the ATT orders actually come? It sucks to have an Apple order that was going to arrive on the 24th and lose it and have to wait for ATT to get their act together. What a total cluster.
My AT&T order was several hours after the cut-off time, so I figured not on the 24th.
Maybe I can at least get the upgrade thing resolved so I can at least stand in line on the 24th. Or maybe I'll just wait....
They screwed up my account and lost my subsidized upgrade when I tried to get a 3GS on launch day because of the servers going down. It took three days to get it resolved so I just gave up.
The guy at Apple told me that I failed to agree to AT&T's terms and conditions.
First he told me that I should have received an email where I clicked on a link to agree. And then he told me that there was some little check box on the order page that I missed.
This is why on the pre-order day I opted not to order on the ATT site even though people said it was going through. I kept going on the Apple site (starting at night and finishing the next afternoon) because I had more faith in Apple.
When I had multiple Apple orders I cancelled the other two so there wouldn't be any problem. Now I'm "prepared for shipping."
I was worried about multiple orders causing problems like this.
Definitely get on the phone with someone to try to get your order back. I would work through Apple. Apple keeps records of these things (on my order status it still shows the other orders there, just marked "cancelled"). You should get your upgrade price and order back.
i think it is hilarious when you people that ordered one from both at&t and apple are getting them both canceled. Maybe you will learn a lesson out of all this (doubt it though).
I am in the same boat. I placed an order with AT&T and never got a confirmation email, waited 3 hours and then called AT&T and they said my order didn't exist. I gave them my order number again, same thing so I went to apple's site and got one there and got a email right then. I wake up the next day and I then have one with AT&T also so I try to call AT&T to cancel right then and they tell me I can't! I try for the next few days and keep getting the same answer so I finally spoke to a higher up at AT&T and he said I would just receive both phones and to send one back. I have been charged for both phones and neither have been canceled and they better not be because I did everything in my power to fix the situation and AT&T stopped me. So sleazy e, your name fits you nicely by the way, but not everyone was being greedy or trying to pull one over on AT&T. If my orders get canceled i will move to sprint and get the evo since I am stillbin my original 30 day return policy.

I hate to say it, but I agree. It seems a little silly to wine and complain that there are problems with the orders when someone went and placed two orders on two systems for the same product on an account where only one is allowed. Talk about asking for trouble.
Kind of like trying to rush and park two cars in the same spot, changes are both will get wrecked in the process.
