i drill/service water wells for a living and i dont even use these things. i have some hearing problems anyway, but the lifeproof/armor i've tried had crap call quality. some elderly people are hard enough to talk to on a landline in a quiet room. i ended up sticking it back in my candyshell case and leaving it in the truck while i'm working. when i'm not, it almost disappears in the front pocket. i'm not fooling myself with these so called tough waterproof cases anymore. they are fine for my kids iPods, but not very practical for me. jmo

@justmizell

I myself worked the trades for almost 18 years so my hearing is pretty screwed as well so sound quality is a pretty big concern for me due to my hearing loss.

I actually just got my iPhone 5 and it's been my first iPhone since my 3GS was stolen a year ago. I too am at a loss as what to do as far as a case that offered the protection that my iPhone 3GS OtterBox Defender did (now that was a great case) most if not just about all of the iPhone 5 cases on the market have some form of deficiency with the way they are designed!

I ended up buying another OtterBox Defender to get the phone in some immediate protection until I figured out which way to go with the final home for my iPhone 5.

The OtterBox Defender is built like a tank but, I have no idea why OtterBox would completely forgo any protection around the Front Earpiece/Camera cutout and the back Camera Cutout? It does not make any sense what so ever that they would leave these 2 areas completely exposed to the elements and not provide a screen protector shield over these 2 areas.:confused:

I mean it's a really nice a solidly built case with the exception of those 2 design flaws. I mean it completely defeats the purpose of wrapping this phone in body armor only to leave those 2 areas open to scratching and chipping:confused: ....why otterbox....why?

I have been looking high and low for a solution that provide the same degree of protection that the OTTEBOX 3GS Defender case did and it's just not out there and if it is there are just complaints after complaints revolving around the other cases that are offering something equivalent of the 3GS Defender.

Besides the Otterbox defender the only 2 combinations that I might consider trying is the Element 5 Black Ops with a GLASS tr shield or a TWIG Case with a GLASS tr shield

@justmizell

Anyway, the sound quality on the iPhone 5 Defender Case is the same as a stock iPhone quality if you are wondering and it is a really nice case minus what I said above.

The home button worked fine for me. Just a slight tap and the phone will recognize it.

Case worked great on the mud run today. Lanyard was awesome and made having the phone accessible for pictures/video very easy. Only downside was I got a scratch on the screen protector somehow, so I'll be exchanging it through warranty or the store.

ALRIGHT. anyone do the water test and have some water get in their case?
Trying again to see if it was a user error. we will see.

I wonder if the metal clips would get rusted in salt water (ocean).

No, Otterbox updated their information with Zinc Alloy latches corrosion resistance.

returned my first one. was leaking water. Got another one and it works perfectly. No rattle on the clips, no water. I like the bulk. Probably gonna keep it. I have a few days to decide I suppose.

You ready to click on "pre-order now" for the Atlas? I'm ready! :D

Yep, I sure am. I just hope they have the black with gray available at the pre-order. I'm not to crazy with those 4 color combos on the Atlas page. :)

Risk, which one of those 4 colors shown on the Atlas page would you get it that's all they are offering at pre-order?

The black/grey or blue/black one. Don't matter to me right now. All I want is a good case. The Armor case is the closest to it right now when it comes to the best case with dust proof protection right now.

The LifeProof is actually a good second to me despite its flaws. The OBEX is a fail due to the mute switch cover. If the OBEX had the mute switch over of the Armor or LifeProof, it would have been perfect.

Where will you be able to pre-order the Atlas, the Atlas page or the actual Incipio site?

Probleme avec le capteur de proximité

Quand je telephone l'iphone reste allumé

Merci de vos reponses

Picked up a green Armor case for my white iPhone 5 tonight and I love it! I'm coming from an Otterbox Defender. I actually prefer the bulk - I don't have to worry about dropping my phone and I also feel like I'm less likely to forget it somewhere. If you're used to no case or a thin case, this will probably seem HUGE, however, if you're already used to an Otterbox Defender there's really not that much difference.

Anyway, I checked w/ the AT&T store to see what their return policy is. After reading quite a few concerns about waterproof cases in general (primarily in terms of call quality) I didn't want to get stuck with a $100 case I didn't like. Their return policy is 14 days - refund, not credit.

I wanted something protective, don't mind bulky. I'm probably less likely than the average person to damage my case doing something rough or manly but I don't want to worry about damaging my phone either. So I don't mind the bulk for the added protection (and waterproof is a bonus) but I don't have to have it - I'm not willing to sacrifice much in terms of call quality.

First impressions... Looked better in person than I thought it would. Not as big or boxy as I thought it would be. Easier to put on and take off than I thought it would be (even easier than my Defender - which helps for wiping away "rainbow slicks"). Screen feels like it's better quality than my Defender. For the most part screen sensitivity is great. I really like that it's dust-proof, something I had to worry about with my Defender.

I can't really think of a con. I did have a small rainbow slick earlier but opening the case and closing it got rid of it. Seems unavoidable. Not a fan of the small home button but at least it's very easy to press. And the screen is a little less sensitive toward the top, there's a bit of a gap there between the front of the phone and the protector. Nothing I can't get used to. I may see about sticking a little something behind the phone to try and push it up toward the screen a bit more.

Ear speaker quality is excellent. The bottom speaker quality is excellent. Neither are hampered at all. I only made one call, to my wife, asked her later if she noticed any difference and she said no. Most of my calls are made from the car using Bluetooth so it doesn't seem like I'll have any issues.

Haven't done a water test yet. I have no plans to intentionally submerge my phone but I suppose I should do one anyway. Will maybe try it tomorrow.

I've tried quite a few cases in the past, always went back to my Otterbox Defender in less than 24 hours. I'm apparently a bigger fan of their products than I want to admit. This case is just awesome, very happy with it.

I've been using it a while now. One thing I'm noticing is there is a slight gap between the screen on the phone and the screen on the case. It often means I have to tap a little more than usual. But I've not had any rainbow slicks. I would obviously prefer not having either issue but I'll tap a bit if it means not having to deal with rainbow slicks.

Other than the slight loss of screen senstivity I'm still loving every other aspect of this case.

Still need to do my water test though...
