* is still enjoying his time clicking on those tiny yellow planes, searching for UPS cargo planes...

If you can get this one to load (it is very overloaded) it is even better:

http://www.radarvirtuel.com

You can filter by callsign (UPS). Currently it shows only two, in the USA. The good thing about this one is it sometimes has slightly different info and it also shows the cloud.

Does anyone have any sure evidence that German airspace will be open tomorrow? At least partly? While it will be good when UK airspace opens again, it doesn't really matter as long as German airspace opens, they're only going to get driven to the UK (as far as I know?). I'm guessing that people like me who already have export and departure scans should be almost ready and waiting to go once UPS get the go-ahead? Bit optimistic but hey :)

After being stuck at "origin scan" (UPS) in Shanghai since early on the 17th, my CTO MBP status has finally (and literally a few minutes ago) just moved to

KOELN (COLOGNE), DE 19/04/2010 23:49 PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE

Potentially promising for delivery by the end of the week!

Especially the last line! :)

@sp3ctre, I have the same thought as you...

@noah82, when did you place your order?

Same for me! It just got updated. Although I read somewhere that this is basically an electronic document issued to the customs... but ofcourse, correct me if I am wrong!! :)

Yeah you're probably right. But it's slightly exciting for me as my status hasn't changed in over two days. To finally see that it seems to be about to make a move is great! :D

Spotted on radar, currently between Greece and Italy, headed NW:

Flight Number : UPS13
Company : United Parcel Service (UPS)
ICAO Hex Code : A382B3
Reg Code : N325UP
Model : Boeing - B763
Departure : ANC - Anchorage, International - USA
Arrival : HKG - Hong Kong - Hong Kong

Departure and Arrival points make no sense at all, but hey-ho.... fingers crossed :)

Edit: Looks like it is headed to Spain, but it is obviously not scheduled to, so lets see if any status's update once it touches down.

Same here :)

At least something is happening now. Maybe they have resumed operations and are currently preparing for the next available flight?

i guess/hope the planes from asia will move to europe this night and can then try to bring the cargo to cologne somehow. even if the airspace stays open like it is right now there might be a posibility that they can fly to cologne.
other option is to land close to germany and just get it in with a truck.
so thursday or friday might be the days (i hope)

This is a bit offtopic, but I guess we all can need a laugh: The 'I hate Iceland' Scotsman.

@jamescwarren: There is no evidence that german airspace will open tomorrow. It's closed at least until 2 pm tomorrow. So if the ash cloud situation doesn't get better or gets even worse the air space could easily be closed longer than that.

Edit: Just found this on the UPS Website, don't know if anyone already posted it:
"For inter-continental inbound volume from North America and Asia, we have utilised non-impacted airports in Europe and our ground network to get part of the volume shipped to its final destinations."

Yeah, fingers crossed for the plane on it's way to Spain as we speak :)

That said, its flight path suggests it may have come from Dubai

Macbook Pro seems to be 'in transit' with UPS, now departing from Tamworth UK at 10pm this evening. Delivery is said to be 'on time' and will arrive tomorrow. Quicker than I thought - two days earlier than estimated by Apple.

I guess this wasn't from China then.
