"Please understand that it will take time to clear the backlog of inter-continental shipments currently in our system and customers may still experience delays. "

Booooooo... dognammit, why oh why is this happening.. I was looking forward playing with my new toy this weekend.

I only got origin-scans from shanghai, probably wont get it until next week :(

UPS15D inbound, off the coast of Romania. It's a 747 but not headed for Germany by the looks of it. Cant work out where it has come from, as the flight path should be a LOT further north if the earlier estimations are correct. Maybe from Dubai?

Correction (on the heading). Just as I typed that, it headed slightly north. Currently on course for Germany (I think)

But are we not missing a scan for our MBPs to be on that flight?

Come on, it's not so bad. We can be happy that the Volcano eruption was so short. Can you imagine if the airspace remained closed during months ? Bye bye macbook. welcome severe world economic crysis. Those few days already had a worldwide impact.

Now, it's just some days more to wait. Not a big deal.

Hopefully it's not heading for the jet stream. Man, I never thought I could be so engrossed by a minute-by-minute flight path...

I would say no. Speculation: The goods are scanned before departure, then put into larger containers ready to be loaded direction Cologne. Now if the plane is delayed, I doubt that they would unload the packages which are already sorted by destination to rescan them again when the times comes. I think that the containers were just sitting somewhere ready to loaded. But that's just a guess.

No idea... as far as I can guess:

a) Scans will not show live on the tracking, only later when they are uploaded
b) We only have one persons word for it (UPS person I mean) that there will even be a 2nd scan.

So, there is a remote possibility that either the scan has not been uploaded or there is actually no 2nd scan at all.

Yup... blind optimism! :D

sp3ctre: I am thinking they might have deviated from the original flight plan, from what i have read Finnish airspace is still closed because of the ash, so maybe some of russian airspace is closed aswell? That could prevent them from going via the direct route, otherwise i have had time understand why a plane from Shanghai would come that way... Do UPS even have hubs in the middle east?

Since most of us have ordered before the volcano eruption it's likely that some of our parcels are first in line in the backlog. That message is not only meant for us waiting for MBP's but everyone who has shipped something with UPS.

Yup, Dubai, but that doesn't fit either.... fingers crossed! This is killing me, I am spending all day on flightradar24 rather than doing badly needed work! LOL

... one more thing, it made quite a deviation on course, suggesting that it may be "routing round"... we'll see in a couple of hrs I guess

DITTO! I have an exam tomorrow i should be preparing for but i am spending all my time refreshing this board and watching where UPS15D is going ;)

Ok, this might be the craziest and most speculative post i have made in my entire life, but based on some quick googling, a flight from Delhi to London should take roughly 8 hrs - a flight from Shanghai to Paris which is basically the same distance should take 12. According to this database the latest entry is dated 8am this morning UTC time - which means that it has currently been flying around 6 hours, this unfortunately corresponds very well with it touching down in Cologne in around 2 hours and thus being from Delhi...

Me? Going crazy? I think i just might! :D

Looks like this is one of the craft that UPS uses for Cologne dropoffs! I reckon 7PM-8PM landing tonight looking at the previous timings.

It makes more sense to look at departures/arrivals of UPS hubs. There is only one UPS flight scheduled to leave Shanghai today (to Anchorage):
http://www.flightstats.com/go/Fligh...ToFilter=(5X)+UPS&airportQueryType=0&x=33&y=8

and 4 UPS flights to arrive to Cologne tonight:
http://www.flightstats.com/go/Fligh...ToFilter=(5X)+UPS&airportQueryType=1&x=25&y=7

I stick to my theory that our MBPs are in Vienna and we'll get some tracking update once they are at UPS facilities in Cologne some time after 5X275 lands at 12:10 am CET.

Does anyone know what is the standard route from Cologne to UK?

12:10am CET on 21/04 was about 16 hours ago…
