There is a hope that our new toys may be closer than we think. I presume that Apple customer service knows no more than we do about UPS shipments and UPS isn't particularly well informed either, otherwise they would have updated their tracking system rather than just putting "NATURAL DISASTER" on it. One has to admire the fact that there is a scan for natural disasters though..:)

Anyway, here's the possible scenario. Yesterday there were 2 UPS flights from Seoul (INC) - usual path for shipments from Shanghai (PVG):
5X65 to Anchorage landed today 2:52am and
5X9 to Vienna, landed yesterday 2:32pm.

People in the US are now posting their FedEx tracking info showing that some MBPs arrived to Anchorage FedEx facility today at around 3:30 am. Therefore it is reasonable to suggest that MPBs somehow got to Seoul and that Vienna flight also contains some of them.

The next flight UPS flight from Vienna (VIE) to Cologne (CGN) 5X275 hasn't taken off yet, it's scheduled for 10:40 pm tonight. They might be there, what do you think?

LOL, I think this is "waiting for Arrandale" logic :)

Interestingly I haven't received the email that many seem to, from Apple saying sorry for the delay etc...

I haven't heard from Apple either. Order status still says Estimated Delivery: 19th April

Same here... maybe they just simply don't like us...

alternatively maybe they scanned for everyone who has the LAST status as "natural disaster" whereas ours have moved on since then.

I'm from austria -
the apple order status says, it should arrive today (21st) -
the UPS tracking service even tells me, that it was in Cologne (Germany) yesterday... but no further information since then :(

It definitely seems like a LOT of people are hitting a brick wall:

http://twitter.com/ups_europe

All they seem to say is "be patient" .... "we will make a statement later"... They really do seem completely incompetent

I wish they would come and partake in this thread, 140 chars is not enough to express my dissatisfaction with their communication.

Agreed. They keep saying "check the website or call the service line, info updated hourly". But their website wasn't updated since Sunday I think.

Does it say "PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE / RELEASED BY CLEARING AGENCY. NOW IN-TRANSIT FOR DELIVERY"? If so - it's still in China.

... crap, yes. I really thought it had made its way to Germany, because the Location says COLOGNE...

Nope, as said previously in this thread, this means that Cologne just received some "paperwork" which is sent electronically.

We're all in this state :)

Just got off the phone with Apple, They are quoting me the 27th for delivery.

This sounds about right considering the current situation...
I doubt the MBP's will be in China for much longer....

Tony

Nope, only the information about it is there sadly!

I really think now is the time for Apple to offer an apology along the lines of "We know nobody saw this coming, and it couldn't have been avoided, but we're sorry you all had to wait anyway". And then they throw in one of those cinema displays. :D

LOL, sounds like Apple are just as crap as UPS for updating their tracking then :)

It was shipped 15/16th from china

At least some Magic Mouse love from Apple, right?

Bugs me when they think they know because either they are estimating like we all are, or they have access to some source of information that we don't. In the latter case, surely we should have easy access to this as the people receiving the goods? Apple already have the money.

Sounds like expectations management to me. Giving the later date and if it gets delivered before then Well Done, Good Apple. The original shipping time for BTO was 4 days, 1 day to build, 3 to ship. It should be here on the 24th if UPS don't put it at the back of the queue, which is possible I suppose..:(

Sure, but the 24th is a Saturday... I doubt they would deliver on a Sat unless they were paid more.

Good point. Hopefully those poor UPS guys will be working 24/7 until they get the backlog sorted, their warehouse must be stuffed to the roof. Not that I feel sorry for them.
