Hah right when I posted that comment I realized that this was a UK forum... But whatever lol, I'm from the US. I'm sorry to hear that some of you alls MBP's are traveling through Somali waters, good luck with that!

Yea because our shipping track has an "NATURAL DISASTER" tag and the Expected delivery date got pushed way back to start of May! Fingers crossed, hope that the air space will be cleared tomorrow. *sigh*

My shipping information also has a note that packages may be delayed because of the volcano. I heard somewhere that someones package went to Germany from Shanghai on its way to the US, and now its stuck.. so I'm not exactly sure the of the routes these things are taking and when the hell I'd get mine..

I'm sorry you wont get it tell May though, that's depressing :(

Good news: my MBP is on its way!
Bad news: its on a slow boat
Badder news: boat is routing through Somali waters.

I've had a horrible, awful day, but that gave me a laugh. Thanks :D

Mine is on its way and should be delivered tomorrow according to UPS tracking! Base model 13" from Shanghai. :)

How'd you manage that? :( ;)

My base model 13" is now prepared for shipment. Shame since after reading this thread I went to cancel the order (was planning on hedging my bets with the Glasgow store, who FYI don't have any 13" pros right now). Should have cancelled it this afternoon :(

KOELN (COLOGNE), DE 18/04/2010 21:12 PACKAGE NOT RELEASED THROUGH CLEARING AGENCY SYSTEM - DOCUMENT INSPECTION REQUIRED / RELEASED BY CLEARING AGENCY. NOW IN-TRANSIT FOR DELIVERY

^^ What does this mean? Is it released or not? Im really confused... Also, how would it be getting to Denmark from Germany with the airports closed?

I'm wondering the same thing. Same status for me. Guess tomorrow we'll know more.

The downside for us is that we don't have any live flight information like what the US people are having.
If we have any, i don't think it will be useful anyway right now when the stupid volcano is still enjoying its time pucking the ashes... Anyway, glad that the next batch of MBPs are getting closer to the UK! :)

Anyone else with delivery status "In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule" not had their credit card charged yet?

I assumed it was just taking a few days to show up on the account but I don't think that's the case now.

I guess it hasn't left Apple then :( even though it says 'In Transit'.

I have "In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly." and my card was debited the full amount, but the money is now back in there. This Iceland thing is really annoying.

By road!

Most airfreight usually goes to Schipol or Koln, and then on by road.

A lot of air freight for the UK comes in on this route (I know because I used to be a truck driver doing exactly this.) as it is cheaper than putting it on another plane.

Sounds good. Hopefully there will be some orders marked as delivered in the coming days ;)
I am hoping that the local computer shop where I ordered mine will get a shipment tomorrow, or on Tuesday so that I can get my hands on my new MacBook Pro asap :)

(And yaay, first post here :) )

This is fantastic news! With this info i am hopeful that the estimated delivery date for tomorrow is actually going to hold up :)

Hey Rogue, do you mean that the plane will drop the corresponding cargo for Europe in Schipol or Koln first then continue its journey to Heathrow? What about the current condition? Mind to share your experience? :D

*Can't wait for my MBP!*

Having only one item in your order also speeds up the delivery as some shipping companies like to use particular hubs to group your items into one before forwarding them on. I made sure not to add a sleeve to my order this time for that very reason - four years ago, my friend and I ordered the same Macbook at the same time (me beating him slightly); only difference being that I added a sleeve to my order. Mine took a full 5 days longer to arrive due to it having to be grouped at some hub in Norway.

I ordered my MCB yesterday and the estimated time I could expect it is May 4/5 :(. I think the volcano is a big part of this delay.

I ordered a 15" I7 on Saturday afternoon and it's saying it's shipped with a delivery date of 20th April. No way is it going to make this of course. Just checked again and it's still showing this date but the UPS tracking number isn't recognised by their tracker.

Hoping UPS find alternative methods of transportation.

I.e teleport? :D

@simonwalton, if the "grouping hub" is along the way, then it should be fine. But if it is like China > Amsterdam > US then it would be a real headache!

P/S: I have seen from other thread that I think the current batch goes to Amsterdam for the merging process.

It works out cheaper for carriers like DHL, UPS, etc etc to send freight from China to Europe by flying it to one major freight Hub (Such as Schipol or Koln) and then take it on from there by road. Why send 20 aircraft to 20 different airports, when they can put it all on one.

This is one of the reasons why a lot of freight does not come straight into a UK airport. It is often also quicker as well to do it this way. The majority of my work was from Schipol to Heathrow, airfreight by road. I also did a lot of Royal Mail from Deutche Post at Koln, to Coventry airport.

Ah, now I remember. You're correct - it's Amsterdam. Not sure if UPS do something similar (company Apple used to use for EU orders was Khuene & Nagel).

No, it goes by plane from cologne to Malmö sturup AirPort, and the by Road to Glostrup ( if you are in Copenhagen ) i know this because i had three macs delivered in Denmark over the last three months. (sometimes it goes via poland to)

Me. I even called Apple on saturday with this particular question. The guy told me that he will send this to their financial team.
My guess is that they can't bill you on weekends.

EDIT: oh wait, I have "Shipment dispatched", not "In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule"

Be aware depending on how your package was routed, it could be affected. Shanghai to New York flights usually head over the north pole, or toward London over the middle east / russia. Depending on where exactly those clouds are, it could screw up flight plans. Its counter intuitive but the shortest air routes are often very weird. Shanghai to NYC is not much further than Shanghai to LA, despite NYC - LA being a 6 hr flight itself...

I don't have any experience with whether the flights to Texas go the other way (ie trans-pacific) so its possible yours will take the intuitive route of going right. Just some food for thought.

So I honestly have no idea if mine's delayed....or do the delays ONLY affect UK/EU? Mine's shipping to Texas.

My estimated arrival date is still April 21rst by 10: 30...which is good because I'm going out of town for a week on that day! So it's kinda important that I know when it's getting here!

Most of the font on the tracking page is all red and, for some reason...my freaking MBP is STILL in China....although I don't see that it's actually "delayed" anywhere....so is it?

But even though shipment information was sent two days ago...it still hasn't left the country?

I feel you man. I hate it when that happens. Thats the negative of ordering online!
