Fedex, anyone?

I posted early this morning (around 0800), asking if anyone besides me received notification of shipping by Fedex rather than UPS...I've seen no responses--apparently, every single one of you on this thread will receive new MBP via UPS. Why is that?

I placed CTO order April 19; I wonder if Apple switched from UPS to Fedex (1) because UPS' containers are full to the brim with MBPs stuck in country, or (2) because Fedex jets take a different route and aren't delayed by volcanic ash.

Where are you located ?

On the Apple Order Status page does your Shipping Method say 'Merge in Transit' or 'Fast Ship (EMEA)' ?

No, there's nothing to merge--just a lovely 17" i7 with HR antiglare. Store unit had identical specs except 5400RPM...for $50 I wanted 7200RPM.

Sales guy at store placed the order for me; we tried it both with regular shipping and with expedited shipping--there was no difference in the (broad) arrival window, so I went for standard shipping...did not ask for Fedex.

I don't know if this is just me being pedantic but surely, now that the ash cloud has apparently left Europe and things are (slowly) getting back to normal, UPS should change the scan code for our packages. It is no longer a "Natural Disaster" that is holding up the transit of our MBPs, but is something else - whether waiting for planes to arrive or for the wind to change direction (your guess is as good as mine :( ).

It comes back to transparency and giving the customer information.

Wrong continent mate. Try "Has your MBP shipped yet?" thread, there are lots of FedEx stories there.

Ah, so THAT'S why the thread title says "is your MBP stuck in Shanghai [UK/Eu]"!! I took that to mean, "is your MBP stuck in Shanghai or in UK or in Eu?"

Thanks for translating for me! Good luck to you all!!

BTW, how many of you are posting your stories on FML?;)

Mine is shipped via TNT. It's also stranded in Shanghai :( Btw. I ordered it from Norway

EXACTLY! They had a Service Level Agreement of x days to deliver our packages which stopped when there was the "natural disaster"... now it is over they should still deliver within the timescale of x more days they had left in the initial SLA. To put us on the back-burner is just disgraceful.

You see, I'm not sure if they have put us on the back-burner. Are there any shipments which have come out of Asia yet? I think they must be turning around the 2 planes they said were making the way there today, and those will be leaving soon (hopefully).

I agree with you though, now the "disaster" is over, we should be back onto SLA for fixing problems and interruptions. Otherwise, how does this affect everybody else? If somebody orders a mac next week while a backlog still exists (even if tiny) do UPS just say that SLA's can't be used because the disruptions this week are still being fixed - even if in reality, they make no difference, UPS just feels like being lazy now they have a free excuse.

I'm afraid you are being a touch pedantic. As frustrating as it might seem, the cause of the delay IS still Natural Disaster. I'm not sure what information you really want to see. It's not really practical for UPS to assess millions of packages and update status. I would much rather they focused on getting things back on track and simply updating the status when they have scanned the package as it enters the next stage of transit.

As for the guys talking about sea freight... You had better pray that's not the case. It takes at last 2 weeks (usually 3) for a container ship to reach Southampton from Shanghai.

Quite a few people here are saying UPS are being lazy but in reality they're probably doing everything they can to catch-up - they're a business and its in their interest to do that. I would guess they're going to use all their spare capacity to get people their orders.

Fair point. It just gets frustrating to not get any news on what is going on.

Think about that for a moment? This is not what UPS wants to do. This incident will have cost them dearly. It is not in their interest to be "lazy". As long as planes are full (why wouldn't they be, they're clearing backlog), then they are moving as fast as can be expected.

And guys, just in case you think I'm some kind of UPS shill... Here's my MPB! Also stranded in Shanghai.

If the theory voiced before about departure times is correct, we should expect the flight to Icheon to either have departed or be departing soon.

That said, not sure how quickly UPS update their status, I expect not too quickly from my experience of courier companies.

Live footage of our MBP's arriving in Cologne

LOL but, well, at this time just relax, enjoy your favourite film or serie, book or take a walk (well, tomorrow) or whatever make your life joyful, and think of this week as non-existent. I will do to relax myself a little :)

Pray for our mbp to be fine when they arrive... AT LAST, after almost a year waiting for arrandale...

From what people have been saying. UPS ship from Pu Dong Airport, Shanghai. I've been digging around trying to find a flight schedule.

I don't have any idea how accurate this is, but it's what I found:

http://www.flightstats.com/go/Fligh...ToFilter=(5X)+UPS&airportQueryType=0&x=15&y=5

At the time of looking, the only departure listed with UPS from Pu Dong Airport tomorrow is to Anchorage. Flight 5X 85, left 5:41am local time.

I'm hoping I've got something wrong, the website is rubbish, or UPS do something weird with their flights. But according to this website, there are no planned flights to Europe tomorrow.

I'm just hoping that this website/UPS update flight info late.

Edit:

http://www.helloflight.com/Airport.cfm

Is concurrent with flights, but states that it is mainly for USA only. Maybe the 1st website is also only USA.

Edit No2:

http://tools.ipapilot.org/jumpseats/index.php

Supposedly lists UPS flights, but states that UPS does not make it's flight schedules available to public. This means that I doubt there's any chance of finding when flights are.

Looks like we're going to just have to trust UPS to not mess around on this one.

Lol at the YouTube clip.

Anyone got any info on the flights that are in asia according to ups? There can't be many places for them to be or be going to other than where we want them to be going and they should surely be in the process of packing them or have already taken off. What time do the flights usually leave shanghai?

Any ideas how to track ups flights worldwide? All the popular sites only do Europe and USA, but our flights won't show up on there if they go to incheon.

See my previous post, I was thinking the same thing.:)
