Of course...why does the 64GB model even exist on a phone that costs 1K?

What does that have to do with anything? This isn't a lot to ask for the technology involved here. Apple isn't just going to give away more than 64 GB of storage when a good 50% of the buyers of said model don't even 64 GB.

Also, I love how it becomes "just a phone" whenever price is discussed. Quality Macrumors.

But smart of Apple to remove the 128GB option; forced to choose between 64 and 256GB, many more are going to go for 256 than would, if the 128GB option had been available. Not so great for us.
They didn't really "remove" the 128GB model, they simply doubled the RAM in the 32GB and 128GB models which occupied those slots. Yes, I realise that means that the 128GB is no longer an option but if they had simply 'removed' the 128GB model then it would be 32GB and 256GB and that would be quite different.

That's just dumb. I'm guessing you have no engineering background at all. You simply can't have wireless power where you can magically beam electricity across the room in an safe and efficient manner.

Yeah, you'd have to be really dumb and have none of those super engineering smarts to think that a device could be charged wirelessly by magically beaming electricity across the room.

This. Should've at least been 128 and 256 as options. And not just because of the cost, but also because there's no way 64 GB will be enough between the larger app and game resources for the higher-res display and 4Kp60 video recording.
Why "at least"? Why is that acceptable, but this isn't?

No. The truth is 64 GB is overly generous here. Most of the buyers of that model don't even need 64 GB. Apple isn't going to just give away 128 GB storage to people who don't need it.

All the complaining about price and now the majority will be getting the iPhone X and the most expensive model. So the answer is , YES, people will pay just about anything for animated poop.

You do realise everyone who wants an SE has already bought one?

Also, we don't want a 4" phone, we want a 4.7" display in a phone the same size as an SE.
I'll be doing my part in putting an end to the SE as a flagship phone by buying my wife an iPhone X and telling her she has 14 days to decide to keep it, or go back to her SE. It will work, because it's not that much bigger, but it is that much better.

Agree with others. I would not at all need 256, and only got 128 with the 7+ (and have 50 GB free). Apple is just ripping us off by not offering 128 MB as an option. 256 does not give me "better" or "higher quality", just costs more.

Well I for one am stunned that this is the biggest attraction amongst those polled. All the amazing technology in the iPhone X and these people are most impressed by a simple coil of wire!

Of course it all depends on how the survey was worded, and what choices people had.

Just wait until they see the reality of charging wirelessly versus using the fast-charging via cable and we'll see which they prefer...

I always loved it myself. Very nice to be able to just plop the phone down.

Also, perhaps I'm not the only one who's spent ridiculous amounts of money on replacement Lightning cables for my wife and kids ;)

This. I’m buying 2 iPhone X 256GB for my wife and I. Kids get our 7’s from last year as hand-me-downs.

I know 6 people at work who are going to pre-order as soon as it goes live. I think demand will be higher than all the naysayers think.

Bigger problem is if the demand will be presist or just initial demand and dies off. Only 28% surveyed wish to buy iPhone X, that is pretty small number.

256GB is so pointless for most peoples use cases. Most are hit with iCloud is full messages and assume that means they need internal storage. I personally use shared iCloud galleries to store all my photos, have iTunes Match for all my streaming music needs and never get close to using 5GB iCloud storage and barely more than 20GB internal.

I don't know if this is ironic but 64GB would be more than most people would ever really need.

Of course...why does the 64GB model even exist on a phone that costs 1K?

1) Some people are cheap. Even at the higher cost.
2) Some companies want only "thin" smartphones so their employees can't get into much trouble storing porn and nude selfies.

That is why there is a 64 GB Tier.

Too bad there is no 512GB option like the iPad. More storage is always a good thing. Maybe next year.

True. Good thing there is 2TB iCloud storage plans now with 256gb iPhones and 4K video! LOL. Heck I don't even have enough storage on my MacBook Pro to backup an entire 256gb iPhone :D

Sounds more and more like it will be next to impossible to get a 256GB iPhone X before 2018. I'll definitely be ordering as soon as orders go live but I fully expect an 6-8 week back order almost immediately with it quickly then slipping to 8-10 weeks.

iPhone X with 256GB storage is the most popular device among prospective smartphone buyers,

Methinks they mean prospective iPhone buyers, since 100% of respondents seem to want an iPhone... This survey isn't making a good first impression...

Are these same people so stupid that they don't know but 8's are capable of wireless charging?

Or is it a result of Apple's confusing train wreck of an iPhone product range confusing people?

well duh, apple forced them too but offering no 128. No one wants that little of storage on a phone with no room for expansion.

Actually, that's not unsensible:

If you stream your media, don't play many games, don't shoot movies (i.e. you basically want a phone) 64GB is more than enough.

If you download your media and/or install lots of games and/or shoot movies you'll easily chew through 128GB.

(Or, get an Android phone with a SD card slot...)

What you perhaps don't appreciate is that by providing more RAM options, the price of every iPhone will be increased due to reduced economies of scale. You say Apple should have continued the "128MB" (assumed to mean GB) model but what about a 96GB model or a 48GB model? For some people those would be better suited. What Apple are doing with 64GB and 256GB is providing enough product differentiation to make people really consider if they NEED the larger size or not. 64GB is not a small amount of RAM and will be absolutely fine for most people. By offering two sizes only they avoid fragmenting the product line and increasing costs for everyone.

In fact in my household, my wife and son just bought 64GB iPhone 8 plus's but my daughter got a 256GB iPhone 8 plus. I currently have an iPhone 7 plus 128GB and would probably go to 256GB if I bought an iPhone X since I'm already using just over 64GB and also have a 256GB iPad Pro.

Wasn't much of an uproar when 32 was the base now they go to 64 and there's criticism. I get it's probably bc of the $999 price point now, but with the better file management, and cloud services 64 is a nice base for a lot of users who don't need local storage all the time.

When spending £1k , kinda pointless getting only 64GB, might as well spent that extra £150 and have a device with adequate storage
