What do you do with 256GB of storage? My iPhone 6 w/ 64GB is only 65% full and I could cut it down easily if I needed to. I'm genuinely curious as I can't figure out why people need so much storage.

We take photos and video. You don't use your camera at all, sure... but you're in the minority.

4K video = 375mb / minute @ 30fps. The iPhoneX shoots 4K at 60fps, so 750mb/second... which starts to underline how ridiculous 64gb is. Don't you have kids, friends, loved ones? You've seriously never taken more than 5 minutes of video, ever?

If you start shooting videos you'll see your storage decreasing. Specially for 4k or 240fps videos.

Have these people seen how slow and awkward wireless charging is?

Worked fine on my Lumia?

Well, a few times I was woken up in the middle of the night... "Phone is charging!" "Phone is not charging." "Phone is charging!" "Phone is not charging." "Phone is charging!" "Phone is not charging." "Phone is charging!" "Phone is not charging."

"46 percent of a larger pool of 4,196 respondents said wireless charging is iPhone X's most attractive feature. "

Are these same people so stupid that they don't know but 8's are capable of wireless charging?
Poll question specifically asks: Which feature of the iPhone X is most attractive to you?
@nikhsub1 calls respondents stupid for not acknowledging the iPhone 8... in a question about the iPhone X

Pretty ironic dontcha think?

"Yup"
- Alanis Morissette probably... Lana Kane most likely

I can understand why people would want 256, but 64 will be plenty for me. All my music is in the cloud and I have my entire movie library on Plex. I usually keep a couple of albums locally and don't really enjoy watching movies on a tiny screen, so I might keep one or two that I'm planning to watch on my phone. I'll load up an iPad if I plan on watching movies.

But I have friends who have large music libraries and want to keep them on their device, and that it just fine. We all have different use cases.

I'm actually happy that so many want the 256 as it increases the likelihood that I will get 2 64s for the first ship outs.

Same exact set up as me. I barely use any space. Hoping it gives me a shot. I am thinking they will make the most of the 64 Space Grey so that is what I am going for. The color doesn't really matter to me much.

4k video recording is going to eat up a lot of space. It's unfortunate that it could record for short period of time.
So yeah, 256gb is needed.

Never had any issues with the entire wireless charging burning out on the phone or the charger with the lumia? I went through a couple phones and a couple chargers in just a couple of years.

Because... ... ...it's there.
No, really. That's the reason.

Look at this chart and shut up you 4" new phone people....it's not going to happen.
This chart says that not many people are interested in the only 4" option available, which is 18 months old and has the oldest technology of any iPhone in the lineup. It says nothing at all about how many people might be interested in a new 4" flagship device.

Unless Apple makes 90% 256Gb models?

Can't say it has. Phone is now used by my other half, so that's..... 4 years of wireless charging, no issues (well, besides receiving a message, the phone vibrating off the pad slightly causing the on/off/on/off/on/off issue)

Only ever used the genuine charger though, maybe aftermarket crap ones cause issues?

If you can afford 256gb you can afford iCloud storage for $2.99 per month (for 200gb). Since I started using iCloud, I checked my usage on all of my Apple devices (including Macs) and I realized it is pointless to pay for storage that I never use anymore. I understood the argument when iPhone 6 only had 16gb, because people couldn't even update their software, but now, 64gb should satisfy 99% of the population (along with iCloud).

I like iCloud and use it a lot (50gb plan). But, it's not a substitute for local storage. Even when I have wifi it's slow, and I don't always have wifi. It's a nice sync solution plus backup for my photos library and some other things, but I also keep everything local (with redundant copies).

Looks like extraordinarily bad news for Apple to me. 37% of buyers are buying an iPhone 8 or 8+. We saw how little demand there was for those. 28% of buyers are buying an iPhone X. So demand for the X is 25% below the already low demand for the 8 and 8+.

I'm going to hold onto AAPL for now to avoid paying higher taxes when I sell it, but I think I'll be selling as soon as that penalty is gone.

This. I’m buying 2 iPhone X 256GB for my wife and I. Kids get our 7’s from last year as hand-me-downs.

I know 6 people at work who are going to pre-order as soon as it goes live. I think demand will be higher than all the naysayers think.

I hope Melania and Ivanka/Jared like them! ;-)

Well said. It seems that Mansu944 had his butt hurt with 4 inches. /s

It may also just be this person doesn't know how to analyze and interpret data/stats or was looking for confirmation bias and clamored to the low percentage at face value

It's a skill not every one has, stats are effective at being misleading for a reason :)
