If they start Byrd, gah. We'll be in trouble.

I don't care what happens after this series, I just want to see the Yankees humbled - and who better to do it than the team that handed them their worst loss in history (22-0)? :D

Honestly I don't think the Red Sox want any part of the Yankees since they did do a number on their rotation.:p

I'm cheering for a five game series with game 5 going 15+ innings and ending well after midnight..I'll take the Sox chances against anybody right now. Ortiz and Manny heated up at just the right time.Which was missing all season..

so i ask, are any red sox fans here cheering for the yankees?

I'm afraid I'm actually finding myself rooting for NYY tonight and for game 4. Then hopefully an exhausted Cleveland team comes to Boston on Friday night.

See my post from before-- I am a Red Sox fan.
I'm with fotografica on this one, I think we just want to see a team with tired arms. :)

Ugh, starting Byrd is such a bad decision. If they went with CC then they'd still have Carmona for game 5, if necessary. This way, if they lose tonight, they could potentially lose the series with Carmona sitting there ready to go.

The question is, Byrd (full rest) and CC (full rest) or CC (3 days rest) and Carmona (full rest). This doesn't seem like a tough call to me. The only explanation I have is that the Indians are already looking to the ALCS and want either CC or Carmona to start game 1. But I think it's a big mistake - the Yankees can easily come back from down 2-1.

As a Sox fan, I want to see the Yankees eliminated now. Not because I fear facing them (in fact, I think Cleveland is a much more complete team), but because I would never root for the Yankees in any circumstance, ever. The fewer games they win, the happier I am.

I'm with you there. I contemplated for a second if I should root for the Yankees if the Angels would've made it to the ALCS (since we pretty much own the Yankees), but I just couldn't bring myself to.

Byrd will give up runs. Our only chance is that he has a good night, keeps the score low AND the Tribe brings the lumber to the plate.

how can you not root for the Tribe?

Any team that hasn't won a world series in nearly 60 years has my support once my team is out of it.

Here's my ideal scenario:

Series goes 5, Clemens comes back and thrills people once more.

Arod breaks out and nearly carries the Yanks to the ALCS, but Jeter commits 3 errors and strikes out 5 times in game 5.

Hafner hits a walk off jack in the bottom of the ninth, game 5 to send the tribe to the next round.

Joe Torre gets fired and joins the Orioles =D

***ahh bliss***

I heard a stat that said Josh Beckett has 2 regular season shutouts in his career, but three shutouts in six postseason starts. Schilling doesn't even seem to start pitching until the playoffs. I'm not worried.

Clemens is off the post season roster as of today.Villone replaced him. Hopefully he rides off into the sunset.

Take it to five games and burn thru both bullpens....

Is it just me or does Betancourt stop about 5 times right before he comes set?

I haven't seen him pitch with runners on, but if it's the same motion, that looks like a balk every time.

macnut's not here i wonder if he's off cutting himself or something :p

or following met fans jumping off windows...just watch wfan go explode for the second time in just over a week. i had my kicks last week as the hated mets went bye bye, but i'll be seeing how met fans react to the yankees failing in round one again.

Haha, it reminds me of the pitcher from Angels in the Outfield. "Bass sets... and sets... and sets... and sets again. *covers mic* God, will he just throw the ball already?!"

It's all over for the Yankees....

This might be the worst playoffs ever in baseball history. Who cares about Rockies and D-Backs. And I doubt if anyone is going to give a damn about Red Sox and Indians, Yawn.

Bud Selig must be rolling around in his grave, wait he's not dead he just looks like he is.

For the majority in here that don't give a damn who is playing anymore the hot stove will be firing up shortly.

So unless the Yankees go all the way, it's the worst playoffs in baseball history?

No wonder the Yankees and their fans are hated by nearly everyone who lives outside of the Bronx :D
