I don't recall seeing a lineup go after the first pitch in a long time as did the Rockies against Schilling last night. What were they thinking? Getting into 0-2, 0-1 holes not only sunk their at bat chances, but got Boston's veteran out of throwing more pitches.

I don't think that was too bad of a strategy. Schilling doesn't walk people. He comes right after them.

Francona's damned if he does/doesn't with his choice..I can assure you,Ortiz won't be at the plate in a 2-1 ball game, late innings....

Q: You mentioned the significance of Oct. 16 for Red Sox fans (in a bad way) with the Boone home run in 2003, the 19-6 loss in 2004 and the Game 4 loss to Cleveland in 2007. Guess what else happened on Oct. 16? In 1941, Tim McCarver was born!!
--Timmy, Groton, Conn.

SG: You couldn't make this stuff up. You really couldn't. At the rate we're going. I'm waiting to see McCarver pop up in a Chevy commercial right as John Cougar Mellencamp is giving out free Taco Bell tacos and "Transformers" DVDs to poor people from the bed of a Chevy Silverado.

"John, here's the thing about our country -- it might be a country that belongs to folks like you and me, but the key to this country is that we fought two major World Wars in the 20th century, and each time, we defeated foes who could have potentially conquered democracy inside our borders. Had we NOT won those wars, this might not be our country right now. (Dramatic pause.) But we DID win those wars. And when you win wars, usually, with very few exceptions, you get to keep your country. That's why ... This is ouuuuuuur country."

This is very true.

Look at his walk rates, not just in the post season but for his career.

His K/BB and BB/9 are always stellar.

Like this year, in 151 IP, he walked 23 batters.

In 24 post season innings pitched this playoffs, he has walked 3 batters in 24 IP.

If you want to sit there and take pitches from Schilling, you'll find yourself down 0-2 all the time.

Probably so, but look what it got them. Take a strike, you're down 0-1, or maybe up 2-1. Water under the bridge though. A no win tonight, and Colorado's all but gone.

Pedroia, 2B

ugh all the rockies "fans" are waving the towels.

what a bunch of ****ing tools

what? I dont see what tito did thats soo wrong. Putting timlin in?

The only problem I saw was that batting practice pitch thrown to holiday.

1. taking daisuke out after one ****** walk. (the first walk he got screwed on the 2-2 pitch it should have been a strike)
2. javier lopez is just ****ing awful. i'd rather see gagne. tito should have brought timlin in when he took out daisuke.
3. bringing timlin back out for the 7th after two amazing defensive plays saved the 6th. he got rocked on a shot to the track 410 feet to center, then lugo made that amazing catch.

i love that dirty waterr
oh, oh boston you're my homeeee

god damn that was waaaaay to stressful
