I miss Steve's taste.

But your iGod was involved in this as he was in the next couple of years' products.

I like it though.
Everybody wants something new from Apple without knowing what it could be.
Now the bring some color to the boring smartphone market, but most people are too conservative to be open for this little change.

The location bar at the top and the toolbar at the bottom are much darker than they are on my iPhone (with iOS 7)... Is that normal for iPhone 5 owners?

I have an iPhone 4, so I don't get all the visual goodness of iOS 7.

I think we can safely say, the 5C is coming. Although, we haven't seen any 5S front panels and not really any physical evidence of a finger print sensor. I guess we'll just have to wait. Hopefully we'll see invites to this event tomorrow or soon.

This is reminding me of the way Apple used to sell notebooks - plastic iBook, aluminum PowerBook & plastic MacBook, aluminum MacBook Pro. Plastic isn't necessarily a bad material for phones since it's light and durable. May be in the minority but I like what I am seeing. Will be nice to have all iPhones on the same size screen again.

A second thought: I'll bet the price is going to be so high despite it being so ugly that not a single person is going to buy it. They don't need to worry about the 5S being canibalized - they need to worry about the 5C not being bought by anyone.

And how much would you like that bet to be? I'll fade anything you suggest! :D

Interesting that you say that. I currently have an iPhone 4 but gonna buy a 5S cause it's so old. How does iOS 7 compare on iPhone 4 to iPhone 5 cause I'll definitely upgrade to iOS 7 when it comes out, just to wet my appetite until I can get my 5S!

I also think it's targeting those who would otherwise put a protective case on their phone. 5C = 5 case/cover? More likely c = color or cheap. :D

The names denote the relative prices of the devices, although everyone is getting the spelling wrong.

It's actually the iPhone 5$ and the iPhone 5¢
;)

these better cost $99 unlocked. why would anybody pay more if you could get an iphone 5s for $199 subby. americans, anyway, haven't jumped to full price phones and these cheaps aren't going to help them anymore.

The primary motivation for releasing these isn't for the US, it's China and other developing markets. That said, I think that the reception for these will be just like the iPad mini: they will be more expensive than what everyone's expecting, but they'll be wildly successful anyway.

Ha. I was going to post a pic of the flower power iMac, but that works too. :)

But normally there is a new beta a week before the Keynote, and that one is usually more polished than the latest one we have for ios 7

No, there is always at least a three week gap between the final beta and the keynote. The GM has to be done around three weeks in advance because it has to be put on the new phones, but they can't release it because it contains info for new iphone features.

I would like to know why these phones are already packaged, because how are they going to install the final version of iOS 7 if the phone is already in it's container. Unless these are just phones packaged as some kind of packaging test run?

The GM is done. If Apple wants to have a good stock for the 20th, then they have definitely started packaging phones and loaded them with the final build, which will be released to developers the day of the keynote.

I doubt they'd ACTUALLY call it iPhone Cheap. It seems to me Apple have a more intelligent marketing team than that. Colour, maybe. Or color, as Americans say. Hopefully whatever it is they get the pricing right. If they want this phone to sell the cheaper markets it needs to be affordable. I'm still with a lot of people who think the iPad mini costs too much for what it's trying to be. I love mine and I can't wait for them to get Retina, but they should have been cheaper.

Really? Wow! You believe that! Man the people you know live truly truly shallow lives for them to think they are judged by the phones they have!

Do they wear big bling solid gold medallions too?

the stuff you buy with your hard-earned money tell a lot about you

iOS 7 GM

If the 5C got the iOS7 GM up and running by the time they were being produce, does it means there are a "production ready iOS7 GM" somewhere now?

I would be willing to bet you the largest amount of money you could afford to bet that they will sell more than 1!!!

When did Apple *ever* package a product with a lame 'photo of the interface' stuck to the front? I don't believe these are genuine.
