Apple UK have told me is "the most efficient way of sending it"

"if it doesn't arrive, we'll resend by courier"

She said if I'm not happy, then all complaints should go to:

panther.salessupport@euro.apple.com

They set up an email just for this?

THERE MUST BE A LOAD OF COMPLAINTS!

Group email or shall we all send one?

Well, no Panther, no red van, no more patience...

I live in deepest Scotland too (it's not dark tho', blue skies and sunshine today!) and our post also comes early and NOTHING from Apple again.

I'm now off to write my email to the local Trading Standards officer and I'd urge everyone else to do the same. A few complaints from different parts of the UK and the subsequent visit from the Dept. of Fair Trading might be the slap in the face Apple UK need.

Here's hoping...

Individually and a group one.... why not ;)

Get in touch with Trading Standards as well, and don't forget to mention that in your emails.... :D

Glad to hear people are getting deliveries finally though.... ;) :)

If we're going to write email complaints to Apple surely it's better to use our own words and not to send a group email, or have everyone sending the same email?

I'd think that several separate complaints from different parts of the UK carries more weight than a single one with 20 signatures.

Unless we're all shareholders that kind of mass-action will probably be ignored or dismissed!

You can't make an individual complaint directly to the Office of Fair Trading, you must go thru' your local Trading Standards Office, usually based within your local council.

You can get your local address, including their email address, by entering your postcode here : http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/

I'll be emailing them cos i want to include a PDF showing the front page of the Apple Store complete with the 'offending' graphic.

I'm going to send one on my own. This has happened too many times to me now.

Just got off the phone to my local depot, and it's definitely not coming in the van.

He also mentioned that there have been strikes in the south of England for the postal service. Any parcels directed through there would be affected.

I'm tempted to go to PC World and get a copy, then sell my sealed copy on eBay - I'll only lose a 10er or so.

H

Why not just send your sealed copy back to Apple? You have the right, under UK law, to return any goods bought via mail order within 14 days (i think it's 14 days) with no questions asked.

Then all you'd lose would be the cost of return postage, which can't be much - just send it Parcel Post, that's quite cheap, isn't it Apple?!

:)

10 days I think. I had 10 days to return my lemon of a Powerbook (dead pixels) for a replacement. It is within your statutory rights to do so.

i think i might, thanks! I'm on holiday from Wednesday and want it on our powerbook.

Do you have a link about the returns policy for mail order?

Hey! That option's just disappeared too - PC World in York didn't receive ANY copies of Panther.

Coincidentally, there's a black cloud hovering right over my head...

The Distance Selling Regulations 2000 define your rights with respect to mail order.

http://www.hmso.gov.uk/si/si2000/20002334.htm

Unfortunately, it's in the usual legal-ese. The OFT website has a more reader-friendly version:

Thanks mate, though I'm gonna have to wait anyway it seems! I have no other way of getting it bar going to the applestore in Leeds and everything there is even more expensive. Grrr.

They supposedly posted it on the 24th

I asked who I should contact if I wish to complain and was told: astoreadmin@euro.apple.com

I'm on hold to the Apple Store right now - mine was apparently shipped on the 21st.

On a lighter note, it seems they got rid of Enya! I'm listening to some classical music, but god help them when they answer the phone... :D

Great, let us all know how you get on.

DON'T FALL FOR THE ACCENT!!!

Good luck!

Just finished the call. Apparently, it was sent through regular post, but via something called "express post". The person I spoke to said that it was quicker than regular post, but when I pointed out that that was clearly bollocks, she was a bit stuck. She said emailing panther.salessupport@euro.apple.com would be more useful as they had all the up-to-date information. I've sent off an email, but I'm not holding out much hope. What a bunch of useless f*****s they are.

I got crashing drums and heavy classical crescendos! Maybe it's mood responsive...?

Also, I got an Australian accent too. Maybe they're hiring more staff in an emergency to deal with all the complaints!?

Thanks...I think. No seriously, well done. If nobody bothers to do anything in this world, nothing gets done!

I've always found that each rep that you speak to will always have a different answer.

My sorry story.

I ordered from the Apple Store Education for Individuals on 9th October, as I'm a student.

I also ordered some DVD-R media at the same time.

23rd October, I get an email telling me my order has been shipped. Yay.

24th October, I get an email telling me that while they have indeed been shipped, they have now been... delayed. Why? No explanation. Boo.

25th October
26th October

27th October, I phone Apple. They tell me that the orders are going to be 'merged' together before sending out to me. This has not yet happened. Hopefully I will get it tomorrow, Tuesday. But it might be Wednesday. Or at some stage after that.

Great.

I might just go to Cancom and pick up an education-priced copy, and send the other one back. Except of course... Cancom won't do it at the education price. Hooray!

Why is the organisation so monumentally rubbish?

Floop

P.S. Anyone else a little worried by reports of Panther killing external FW hard drives on installation? Ha! Me too!

Yes! It's maybe the only silver lining in not having my copy yet. Has it been confirmed that this only affects FireWire 800 drives, or is it all FW hard drives?
