Nice. A fellow udp creator at my local store. No wonder supply was hard to come by in the early days of this. . .

Actually I got started very late like November 7th (I was waiting for a pre-order to arrive ship to home) and you were very active the month prior to that in fact you were one of the posters that got me interested !
Every time I was at "the store" there were 3 or 4 people scooping up 2 at a time in store (I couldn't figure out how to do that)

Just got off the phone with a very competent agent, tried to Aol a plan and keep the udp, with no success multiple times.

She said that verizon is aware of how valuable these are, and are working on a promotion to have unlimited data for a certain period of time (like 1 year) with a new 2 year contract, etc.

She specifically mentioned this because according to her, the computer was actually not allowing any unlimited data transfer, period.
each time she tried to force it, it went to the 2gb plan. She said that this is an extremely new change, and the computer usually let you force it through, but they had a software update to coincide with this new promotion.

The old unlimited customers (read, current unlimited) will be allowed to keep theirs, but the system was changed such that any change of account on the plan will auto trigger to switch to a ME tiered data plan.

Again, this internal computer change was due to the pending promotion, since it's udp will be a different code in the system.

Wether true or not, I think it's pretty interesting. If Verizon truly sees the influx of customers from this event / Trying to best T-Mobile's offer, it's pretty amazing to watch market forces at work so quickly. Verizon wants, at the end of the day, contractual customers, nothing else. This is due to Wall Street, earnings, etc if verizon can get more customers by offering unlimited data for x period of time, then why not?

Is the rule not to tell csr that you have udp and just ask to preserver your line as it is. If this was true we could not even put a line in sub account without loosing udp. At least changing minutes will not affect udp lines.

I just moved a UDP from subaccount to a main account and UDP is still there.

thanks jules got verizon to push my ported line off the account. Only four lines showing up in myverizon now. Will try to activate the order placed on nov 11 in store tomorrow again.

two single nationwide with udp lines = about $80+$80
450 minutes, 1000 texts, UDP = $80 each x 2 = $160

and a nationwide family share with 2 udp = 99.99 + 29.99 + 29.99
2 lines sharing 700 minutes with unlimited texts and UDP = $160

so about the same price?
Well yes, but with the individual plans you get 900 minutes total but only 1000 texts per line. With the FS you get only 700 minutes to share but unlimited texts. If you want unlimited texts on the individual lines it would be $10 more per line so $20 more for 2 lines.

which ipads can i use udp on?
Any Verizon LTE iPad will work.

The best I've seen in Los Angeles has been in the 70 mbps range up. I average around 20 mbps down in most places though. XLTE is active around here but it's highly variable.

Nice. What city are you in?
Anyone have experience with a uml290? Got one off fleabay but reception in my basement is terrible for 4g.

UML290 is a good modem but I would grab a UML295 (as cheap as $19.95 this week on ebay) they are totally plug & play with all drivers and software on board so you don't have to install verizon's MBB manager on your machine. Add an external Wilson base antenna like the "Cellular Trucker" (technically a 3g antenna but they work well with 4g and are cheap) they bring me from 1 bar to 5 bars.

Nice - will have to check this out. Props for continuing the UDP nation in the PNW

Doesn't matter. Fcc regulations mean Verizon can't do anything about that

True but a lowly rep may not be up to date on the latest FCC rulings and can switch you off with a click of a button and then you would have to fight to get it back. Wouldn't risk it myself.

"Can" and they did do it, and then they terminated line

The buyer screwed up, and doesn't want anything to do with it

How did the buyer manage to mess it up? When I called to accept my AOL, I was anticipating suspicion and questions so I tried (probably unsuccessfully) to be ho-hum about the UDP - saying something like "just leave it with whatever it has, for now." The rep, on the other hand, emphasized repeatedly I shouldn't change anything because of the UDP. She even said something like, "if you don't want it, I'd take it."

After he accepted the line he called Verizon and wanted a discounted price on a brand new jetpack so he can put it on his line, that's when they dug into the account and terminated the line. Now he's fighting me for a refund through PayPal.

Moron. Could have gotten a MiFi on eBay for probably $20. As if having MHS-specific UDP for $50/mo wasn't enough of a deal, already. How many different times/places/ways did it need to be made clear to these people that these were smartphone plans (hence the minutes and texts)??

Exactly. You will get your UDP back but you have to file an IPR. It is a HUGE hassle requiring lots of phone calls to Verizon and supervisor involvement.

After talking to the guy, my expectations of eBay people sank a new low.
