Moron. Could have gotten a MiFi on eBay for probably $20. As if having MHS-specific UDP for $50/mo wasn't enough of a deal, already. How many different times/places/ways did it need to be made clear to these people that these were smartphone plans (hence the minutes and texts)??
$45/mo! But of course with taxes and fees then $50. I would not AOL to my buyers w/o a 4G LTE PHONE on the line BEFORE I AOLed the line to them explaining repeatedly that they should never call Verizon without a phone on the line so they needed a phone! Also I explained to them there was no way to get Verizon to activate a tablet or a mifi on the line so they needed a phone to get the SIM card active. No phone, no $45/mo UDP MHS.

After talking to the guy, my expectations of eBay people sank a new low.

I've encountered few types of people on ebay.
1. They know this thing is not "totally on the up and up.." but knows it's invaluable, they just pay and move on....
2. They know this thing is not "totally on the up and up.." but knows it's invaluable, they want to ask every single question they can. Then not buy from you.
3. They dont know this thing is not "totally on the up and up.." but knows it's invaluable, they just pay and move on
4. They dont know this thing is not "totally on the up and up.." but knows it's invaluable, you answered ALL their questions, they still dont get it. Proceed to mess up....

I know it's legit, you all know it's legit. But the CSRs at Verizon may not, and the buyers are skeptical.

It's people in general. Most of my buyers were not Verizon customers and I spent literally hours explaining to them about Verizon and what they had to do to keep the UDP and/or MHS. I can't tell you how many times I went over the same things only to have the buyers not get it and then I had to reexplain things.

When all was said and done I still had an unsatisfied buyer due to him not understanding my repeated explanations. It was so draining!

Some people are just morons and some people just don't listen b/c they think they already know everything.

So Jules, I have an order that was placed online back on Nov 5th. Went in store to pick it up and had issues. I believe when CORe wiped out all my old applications they wiped this one out. Anyway after 20 mins on phone with Verizon the Apple rep says screw it. Cancels the order online and just adds a line in store.

I go back and check and the order is still active showing it is ready for pickup. Now if I went to pick it up it would have the same issue of no credit application. Do you know of anyway around this? I want to win the award of the last UDP iPhone! Lol but seriously I want a UDP line for the fiance since I was overzealous and cleared house thinking the glitch would remain.

Just received my Jetpack in the mail along with a $20 antenna I bought from Ebay. I have the Time Warner (ripoff) Ultimate 50/5 plan that runs $100 a month. The speeds I am getting without with the antenna beat my home connection! Thankfully, my city will be one of the TW MAXX areas that will see Ultimate plan upgrades to 300/25.

I read several posts on the Verizon forum about people calling in to ask a question about their plan and have the reps deactivate their line and service due to having an active Jetpack. However, I did notice that almost all of the posters were not very versed in the FCC rulings or the fact that we can put our 4G cards in any device of our choosing. So, they just took the reps words as fact and didn't push it.

I also saw a few posts where they did get their UDP reinstated via corporate on Twitter. Simply because they did some research and pushed the issue.
I just wanted to post this because some of you guys seems to be on the fence about losing UDP. They "can" take it away but they will have to put it back if you push the issue.

Check out this guy...

This guy had his reinstated!

That sounds like a disconnect b/t Apple's system and Verizon's system that becomes an issue once you go to p/u the phone and they do the scan activation. But of course the only way to tell is to try it.

OMG YOU SOLD YOUR FIANCE'S UDP LINE?!?!?!!?!?!? I did the same thing and cleared out my last $45/mo UDP MHS line and then was shut down by fraud. Sucks.

I don't know any way to resolve this except through CORe if they can resolve it. But for sure you don't want VAT involved.

I didn't do any on feebay but I noticed in my CL ads I sold more than I could give away. I actually had a few people inquire on my "free" ad and my "$$$$" ad and they ended up buying one because they were suspicious of the "free" ad. A few times once we'd meet and do the first transfer I'd offer a 2nd for free and they would do that but they still tossed the cash out for the first line

We live in a day when "free" is no longer considered a good deal lol

How would that be possible and where have you heard of a 34.99 line before?
It's not possible and I think the data only UDP MHS were $39.99/mo.

It won't help you to be well versed in the Block C licenses. The reps won't know what you are talking about. They will take away your UDP and you will have to file an IPR to get it back.

----------

I also saw a few posts where they did get their UDP reinstated via corporate on Twitter. Simply because they did some research and pushed the issue.
It has to go through the IPR department. Nothing special about twitter, you can call to get an IPR filed.

----------

They "can" take it away but they will have to put it back if you push the issue.
Reps can do anything they want to your account but you can get it corrected if they did something wrong. To get UDP reinstated you have to file an IPR. It is a HUGE hassle though and you will spend quite a lot of time trying to get it all sorted out.

Moral of this story - do NOT call Verizon with a MiFi or tablet on a line that has voice minutes on it. And NEVER go into a corporate store for anything other than to look at the devices.

Had the same thing happened to me twice on cl. Has one listing " free" and the other was $45 . the free never got any hits but the $45 got 2

Jules, I realize it may seem time consuming, but I posted that information to reassure people that come across this thread. This information is extremely important to newly AOL'd UDP line owners as they should not worry about Verizon checking your "device history" and slapping you on the hand and removing your UDP. I don't see anything as a hassle to fight for your rights as a consumer and for services that you PAY for.

After all, Verizon reps should understand their OWN policy. Refer them to this...particularly the swapping sim cards into ANY LTE capable device.

When I first offered it locally for "free." It must had been my english, the first few inquires, literally thought i was giving them free udp's. They thought i was going to foot their data plan bills. Learned and said free transfer of the udp. Like discussed before, most people who dont know about unlimited data plans, or just dont believe it can be transferred, are especially hard to convince. I must have answered over 100 emails within 3 day span. After all that only resulted two transfers.
There were people just told me, i dont believe you, let's go to verizon and get this done at the store front. One basically said I called verizon and they said it cannot be done.
It doesnt feel like it's on the up and up, ignorant verizon CSR doesnt help either. But why would verizon education their own employees about regulations? These are the front line people that can block a lot of their unnecessary hassles.

FAQ #7!
Good to have that one in the pocket when you call them.
Time for a wiki, Jules? You seem to be very good at that.... and after it's all done you can write as many rtft (or rtfw) as possible... =)

Education is valuable, but also time consuming. People who get it, get it right away. People who are sheep, will always need to be led and told what to do.

Actually you should. The reps can kick you off of UDP arbitrarily. So don't get reps interested in looking at your device history if you are going to use a voice line as a data hotspot.

As I said before, you will get your UDP back but it will cost you a lot of time and aggravation to get it back.

You are just plain wrong if you think people don't need to worry about what the reps will do when you call Verizon. People need to worry about that. The forums are replete with stories of people losing their UDP for a variety of invalid reasons from getting a new SIM card to moving a line b/t subaccounts. Shouldn't have happened but it did and they got to spend lots of their time on the phone with Verizon getting it all straightened out.

Probably because they did not call knowing the facts. The uninformed start back peddling when they hear buzz words such as "violating", "excessive", abuse...etc. You will always be a victim if you do not know your rights. This applies to anything. Sure, people always argue "they can do whatever they want." Prime example of back peddling? It's like the old XM subscriptions tricks, they make it extremely hard to cancel (not if you know what to say and who to contact, first line reps weed out the weak). Catch my drift???

The moment I get any confusing/conflicting responses from a rep that I know to be true...I simply hang up or ask to speak to a supervisor. Let them try to make changes to my account before I was able to acknowledge my understanding and acceptance of the changes. That alone is a big no no. After all, these reps are not highly compensated and really can't afford to spend thirty minutes on the phone arguing with you about their OWN policy, especially territory that they know nothing about.

Make them back peddle and tell you to have a nice day!

Probably because they did not call knowing the facts.
No it is the reps that don't know all of the facts and you aren't going to be able to convince them otherwise with legal arguments about the Block C license restrictions.

As I said, after a lot of time and effort on your part, you will get your UDP back though an IPR.

There is nothing more to say on this. People need to be worried that the reps can do this and accordingly, not do anything stupid like call with a MiFi on a voice line or even just call to get a jetpack directly from Verizon when you have a $45/mo voice line with UDP on your account.

Did you see my post? Forget the FCC rulings, its in plain English on their site!
Per their own policy

Can I use my Verizon Wireless 4G SIM in more than one device?
Yes; the Verizon Wireless 4G SIM card contains all of your subscriber information, so the SIM card is portable and can be used in any Verizon Wireless-certified 4G device. All usage will be billed to the account associated with the 4G SIM card.

Here is the killer...

"All usage will be billed to the account associated with the 4G SIM card."

My account implies I have unlimited data with my 4G sim card. Jules, can you find it in their policy where they strictly prohibit a "certain" 4G device or using your service (SIM) with said device. Wait, the above policy explains that, which also happens to be a watered down response to the FCC rulings.

If a rep cannot interpret that as it is, they need to go back to school. Like I said before, hang up and call back or request to speak to a supervisor.

Feel free to test out how that works by calling verizon with a MiFi on a voice line.

The wise and prudent among us will listen to my advice.

I like that "employee discount on a 45 dollar plan" why not ask them to pay you for using there service

It was just a question. Didn't think it deserved a flame. There were people making hundreds of dollars in this thread selling iPhones and you're going to flame me for a legitimate employee discount?
