I'd love to give you one, but you don't have PMs and I don't want this thread closed down. Sorry

Does anyone know why Verizon has not closed this loophole?

because iphones are selling out all the time, they probably need to involve apple to tweak the process. can you imaging, close the ordering system down right now just so they can close this "loophole?"

also they may be getting new customers. we're doing public service, right Jules?

Why don't those of you who have lines to give away put your email addresses in the About Me section so people can email you?

Was the new line showing up on your account b/f you activated the phone?

With suspending service, I know I can do it for a max of 180 days. After 180 days, can I just unsuspend it and suspend it again, or do I have to leave the line active for a while before I can suspend it again?

Also, can I activate an AOL'ed UDP line on a Verizon phone that is currently under another contract? Or will that screw it up?

Actually, you can only do 90 days at a time then it automatically unsuspends. You can then resuspend for another 90 days. Then you no longer can suspend without billing for another 180 days.

Phone's aren't under contract, lines are.

If that phone is active on another account you will not be able to add it to yours.

Yes, if the phone is active on another Verizon line, it cannot be on 2 Verizon lines at the same time.

Marky says otherwise, but I wouldn't play SIM card games like that b/c you can find yourself with pretty bad issues on a line. Fine if the line is a regular old line - after hours on the phone with tech support they may be able to fix it for you. But I wouldn't play SIM card games with a new UDP line.

That's what I wanted to know, thanks!
Just to be clear - you can put a phone from another Verizon account on your Verizon line as long as the phone is taken off of the other Verizon line by having the person who owns the other account put another phone on the line.

The phones are not tied to accounts and are not under contract, the lines are under contract.

Okay Jules, you've given me a ton of info in this thread, and now it's time for me to give some back. I spoke with my friend who's a know it all about Verizon UDPs, and I mentioned that I can't order a basic line anymore through Verizon without a TDP. He suggested using the iconic portal, which is normally for pre-orders, but had several basic phones listed. I selected the LG Revere 3, and it gave me the option for pay as you go data. Here's a screenshot of my order (apologies if this shows up huge):

This isn't the final order page, but I was able to continue and the order went through. Got a confirmation email and everything. So if you need a basic phone line, that's the place to do it.

Now that I will have a basic phone line, I assume what I do is the Jaycemiskel method in the years when my basic line has an available upgrade, and then in the years when my UDP has an available upgrade I do one of the methods for getting an upgrade directly on your UDP line, yes?

OK, but what I was talking about was ordering a smartphone by adding a line and then dropping the data plan so you get the basic line AND a smartphone. See what we used to be able to do was add a line and get a new iPhone, put a basic phone on the line, drop the data plan, and sell the iPhone for a profit of $300+ to pay for the basic line for 2 years. So we got a free basic line to use for upgrade transfers by flipping the iPhone.

If the iconic portal works to avoid the 2 year data plan, you should order through the comcast promo here:

http://www.comcast.com/verizon-wireless.html

b/c the comcast promo is through the iconic portal.

Get your smartphone and a $150 gc for new lines. Then see if you can drop the data plan. If not, return the phone to cancel the line - if you return the phone w/in 3 days of receiving the phone, you pay nothing.

Oh no, I don't think this is a way to get a smartphone and then drop the data plan. I think it's just a way to get a basic line to use for upgrades.
