You don't need the iconic portal for that - you can order directly through Verizon's regular site. If all you are doing is adding a basic line, there are no issues with that.Oh no, I don't think this is a way to get a smartphone and then drop the data plan. I think it's just a way to get a basic line to use for upgrades.
The issue I was talking about was that we no longer can order a subsidized smartphone with a new line and then drop the data plan. We used to be able to do that. Now Verizon requires you to pay for a data plan for 2 years if you get a subsidized smartphone when you add a line.
We want the subsidized smartphone to sell to pay for the basic line for 2 years so it is free. Or you can just keep the subsidized smartphone whatever, but the point is that the value of the subsidized smartphone pays for the basic line for 2 years making it free. We used to be able to do that but on 8/25/14 they stopped that and now the new lines have the asterisk with both a contract end date and a data plan end date.
Also, this only applies to legacy plans, not to more everything plans, but no one here cares about ME plans.
